The campaigns were in talks this morning about releasing a joint statement. This is a fact. But before the statement is released, and likely after some back-and-forth between the campaigns, McCain makes the "shocking" "suprising" announcement that he wants to suspend the presidential campaigns. If, as has been established, the two campaigns were working on a joint statement, why did McCain's campaign not bring this idea up BEFORE making the VERY PUBLIC announcement that it was suspending its campaign? There is only one explanation: it is a stunt. If, as I am sure the McCain campaign will assert, McCain is "putting country first", why then - and note to the press, please ask this question - why then did the McCain campaign not try BEFORE making the announcement, to get the Obama campaign to agree to the suspension, just as they were doing with the joint statement? Stunt, stunt, stunt.

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

Do you suppose this is what McCain's been "praying" for? Frank. It is clearly a political stunt in response to new polling placing McCain further behind Obama than was previously thought. A president must be able to multi-task. He can not only focus on one issue at a time. Moreover, rather than depoliticizing the bailout, he will be furthering the politicization of the crisis.

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

One more: Is this how McCain will govern? Of course there will be a debate. For McCain to suspend his campaign to the economic crisis is a gimmick. McCain said yesturday that his vote on the bailout bill was not neccessary. McCain deregulated the markets and has not voted on a bill since April. All of a sudden the economy is so important to McCain he wants to vote on the bill. Please. Don't fall for it. McCain is running scared because he is falling behind on the polls.

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

What a ridiculous ploy on McCain's part--how silly this is!

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

Agreed, McCain/Palin is as dead as an empty suit and they know it.

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

McCain, despite his words, has just interjected MORE partisan politics into the financial crisis than we need right now.
Go Barney Frank!!

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

Barack Obama has what it takes to be President. A President has to be able to handle many issues and crisis at one time. He will not be able to pick and choose what crisis he will handle first. He will need to wake at 3:00am for that call that cannot wait until morning. He must, at a moments notice, make rational decisions that are critical to the country and the world.
Barack Obama has the tenacity to work to his full capacity to make this a better country.

Barack Obama IS our CHAMPION! AND he will continue to be when he is our PRESIDENT!!

John McCain is getting his DUFF kicked and now, out of concern for the country, he is suspending his campaign? Give me a break! He wants to cancel the debate and focus all his attention on the ecomony. McCain, the one who admitted he knows nothing about the economy!

Barack Obama's poll numbers are gaining daily and he is surging in all polls because people have confidence that he does know how run Washington and the country. He has McCain running scared.

McCain is a coward. He cannot stand up to Obama and he knows that his attempt at looking "presidential" is the only chance he has.

MCCAIN IS A COWARD!

ONE MORE REASON WHY I AM VOTING OBAMA/BIDEN '08

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

I never was impressed with anything about Mccain, Never, Ever.

Barney Frank on McCain, Hail Marys

McCain is running scared - as well he should.
