I'm still disappointed that the Dow has tanked again this week due to failure of the bill to pass. The Repubs have been asleep at the wheel for so long they only take action (or in this case, inaction) when their jobs are in jeopardy. Had this not been an election year, they would be continuing the same old lame politics that got us in this mess in the first place.

Get back to work, Congress and put together another package so that our economy can have a chance of getting back on track. If this continues, all of us will be in the soup lines. If no deal can be reached, then what? The alternative ain't very pretty and the USA could go the way of the Soviet Union.

Obama on bailout failure

Now is the time for Democrats to go full speed ahead on their own plan and forget even trying to negotiate with Republicans. Throw the Republicans out of the room and make a vote along party lines if necessary. Compromising with the minority party in the house didn't work, so forget 'em.

Obama on bailout failure

We need to get these nay Democrats voters to change their status and say that atleast Democrats are united on this issue. Who cares how the Republicans are saying. You need to be unanimous within the Democratic Party. Obama should take charge of his Obama Democrats and tell Clinton Democrats and other Democrats to vote for this bill.

Obama on bailout failure

Elect Senator Barack Obama. The next four years will be about the hardest any president could handle and may be destined to be a one term administration. There is no way the curmudgeon old man McCain will be able to handle the job at hand. And anyone who thinks - should McCain die in office, his vp Palin could handle the disastrous situation....they need to go back to elementary school or have their heads examined.

Obama on bailout failure

The American people are very unhappy and this is very, very very bad news for McCain. It is bad news for all incumbants.

Our leader, Obama, has five weeks before elected and 113 days before he will take office. Bush and McCain and the Republican party are a disgrace and do not deserve our trust or confidence. We need actual numbers of job losses. We need actual numbers of foreclosures. We need actual numbers of local banks that could 'potentially' go under. We need actual numbers of the unemployment rate. If he wants to make the case, he needs to outline the seriousness of this problem with hard facts.

In response to how our economy affects our national security: Every American can bet that terrorists the world over are looking at this situation very, very carefully, along with other competing countries and markets; who are both looking to see how it will affect their own market but also for the opportunity to raise their own status in the world. If we were to be attacked now, in the form of a suitcase, we may not ever recover. A very scary proposition but one that needs to be explained, in turn offering Obama the chance to cast 'real' vision in this time of uncertainty.

Adam

Obama on bailout failure

And for Democrats to blame republicans for the bill's failure is proof of their inability to do simple arithmatic. The Democrats could have passed this bill themselves, but they failed to do so.
no joe, no bo, nj (Sent Monday, September 29, 2008 3:26 PM)

Yes, no joe, they COULD have, but why SHOULD they? The repugs did this so why shouldn't they take some of the ownership? That is what Nancy P. was trying to say. Grow up guys, and take some ownership of this sinking ship that you drove into the rocks. Just like the repugs, they get their hands all dirty and then they want someone else clean them up...like us, the taxpayers.

Obama on bailout failure

Once again, McCain and Obama display their leadership qualities in a crisis. And once again, for this voter, the cool, steady hand of Obama wins my vote.

Obama on bailout failure

I say give the american people who put them if office the 70 billion! We would pay 30% tax which would go back to our government. The American people pay your houses off, stick in the bank, pay off student loans. Problem solved! CLH MISSOURI
