But if Republicans who were planning on voting for the bill didn't for this PETTY, PARTISAN reason, they are the ones putting politics before country. Why do I smell partisan Republican politics here? This bill has been worked on for more than a week now and was supposedly headed for a vote where it would pass by a majority vote. Than today 60% of the Dems vote yay and 60% of the Repubs vote nay. The Republican leadership now acts surprised by how their people voted and blames the speaker of house for hurting their feelings. WTF!
I've watched this process closely and things seem to be moving forward then something happens suddenly the Republicans jump out of the bushes crying bad bill, bad bill. In between incidents the Repubs have been virtually invisible and allowing bills to move forward to the point of being voted on.
Just watch the Republican leaders and their post vote comments at their surprise at how their own people ended up voting today. Please remember that this bill originated from the Republican side(Bush, Paulson,Cox, Bernake,etc.) and was supposedly being fashioned into a compromise bill with help from both sides and at the moment of truth only 30% of the Republicans voted yay. This was no planned attempt to allow for a market correction rather politics as usual!

Nice....once again the Republican party demonstrated its absolute disdain of doing the right thing for the country. This bill was crafted basically by the BUSH REPUBLICANS!! Over 60 percent of the House Democrats voted for the bill, even though it was not all that they wanted, because they KNEW that the US economy depended upon its passage. John McCain as the supposed leader of the Republicans couldn't deliver on the Republican pledge of getting 50% of the votes needed to pass this bill. That's not what I want as my President, and any thinking American will realize this as well. Eight years of Republican deregulation of corporations has brought us to the brink of financial ruin, not to mention earning us the loathing of most of the rest of the world. Way to go Republicans.
