Sadly, I feel that our Congressmen and women have been put in a terrible place - voting for the lesser of two evils, much as I felt in the 2004 Presidential Election, choosing to vote not for John Kerry, but rather against George Bush.

I watched Fast Money on CNBC Monday night after the stock market plummeted earlier in the day, and watched as the traders and market specialists on the show berated a Republican House member for voting no, and not understanding that he was essentially doing nothing as "Rome burned around him."

It is scary to imagine that these Wall Street specialists believe that the American people, and their elected representatives will hastily hand over a large sum of money to the same Wall Street tycoons and fat cats who got us into this mess, without completely understanding the problem, the outcome and the possible resolutions that are being offered.

While Wall Street may understand this issue more than any of us (which is almost certainly true), they fail to grasp that we, as Americans, demand protections and guarantees that will prevent excessive hanky-panky within the financial sector, leaving us, the taxpayers and voters, holding the bag for this disaster, and the future disaster that would most certainly result from giving free money to these immoral, and unscrupulous parties.

Please do NOT support this so called bailout or rescue. I have 3 bueatiful daughters. I do not want to leave them a huge bill from our mistakes. Most of the top economist say they don't think it will work. I understand what will happen if it doesn't pass. I don't understand why everybody keeps saying the voters don't get. My intelligence has been insulted. My faith in the democratic system has been destroyed. Most people are against this yet congress is still pushing it down our throats. Congress was supposed to be elected to represent our views. Congress was not elected to say, my people are not smart enough to make a decision so I must do what I think is right. The vast majority does not support this bill. I am an idenpendent vorter and was leaning toward Obama. I think now I am going to write in Ron Paul. The vote may not count but at least someone gets my vote that actually listens to what the people want. I will check to see where my reps voted on this issue and it will be remembered when their name is on the ticket.

In the presidential debate both Obama and McCain said that they would work to cut earmarks out of legislation. Now a bill that failed the house comes to the senate a $100 billion of pork is added to it and both Obama and McCain not only vote for it but encourage their fellow members to vote on it. I am not sure that this bill is the best thing to do, but I do agree that something needed to be done, and the alternative would be much worse. I still feel that a loan of sme nature with regulations and over sight attached would be a better solution and let the companies pull themselves out just like anyone else would have to do.

I do think that the companies should have to devalue their holdings to show what the true value is as of today. As the values in these properties increase then let the values on the books incease as well. I also think the companies should work and try to refinance as many of the mortagages as possible, even if it means extended or adding several years onto the original time periods.

The reason for "the bail out" bill has not just occurred in the past three weeks. It has been brewing over time. No one picked up on the fact that it was happening, or at least they did not bring it to the attention of people that needed to know (the taxpayers, investors, and retirees). We have been experiencing "trickle down live on your credit cards economics" for a very long time. I have no idea how to fix it, but I also suspect that no one in power does either. We have gotten ourselves into a mess.

Only the ones that got greedy and borrowers that over-extended themselves are affected. We need term limits, NOW!

I can't believe I'm writing on this liberal news website but I just want to let you know you win. I'm a 19 year extremely conservative former (as of yesterday)Republican. I'm voting for Obama. Obama's flat out tells you he's a socialist McCain pretends to be something else. I'm a proud business owner who just 2 months ago got a $15,000 line of credit (liquidity crisis?). I'm a strong believer in free enterprise with rules to make sure all compete fairly. I've called and emailed all my reps & did the same w/McCain & advised them I'll vote for Obama but they don't care. McCain didn't even fight against the 150 billion in pork! You'd think at least he'd do that until he got elected. What a pig!
I pray (can you say pray on this website:))that others are doing the same. I know I could vote for an independent but it's critical to me that McCain loses a vote and Obama gains one.
