It's absolutely amazing to me that you guys (First Read) spend enough time to bring us this kind of perspective on Sarah Palin (only the VP candidate), who most of you are ridiculing and calling a light weight anyway and YET, you don't even try to bring us the same perspective on Barack Obama, who is the Presidential candidate of his ticket. IF it's so crucial for us to learn abot the trooper issue and to know that people either love her or hate her in Alaska.....shouldn't we learn the same about Barack Obama in Chicago and Illinois and in his earlier days??? Shouldn't we be "educated" about how his political career was launched at Bill Ayer's (the World Trade bomber terrorist) house, how they have served for years together on the same board (although Obama only calls him a "neighbor"). And also, Obama's relationship with convicted felon Tony Rezko and how Obama was close enough with Rezko to get a sweetie real estate deal through him? And what about his years in the state senate...working shoulder to shoulder with the most corrupt political machine around (Cook County...the Stroegers....Chicago with the Daleys...etc). What did he learn from that political machine? Did it produce a "new" kind of politics in him? What about his work with the radical left-socialist group ACORN which Pelosi and friends recently tried to direct $$ to in their initial baliout package bill? This group has been busted repeatedly for voter fraud and other indiscretions and Obama worked closely with them. What influence did they have on him??? Etc, etc.

First Read, do you really think we're all so ignorant that we don't notice that your reporting is all in one direction? How do you as paid journalists and "professionals" sleep at night when you betray your profession which calls for objectivity?

She was so comfortable with Sean Hannity (even though he was assisting with her responses) and yet she was totally different with Charlie and Katy. It is disturbing that she has to be coached to answer "what newspaper you read". I am a woman and I want her to do good but in this case, I don't appreciate the way she is handled. I do not endorse any political party and I always vote for the person(s) I deem best qualified for the office(s) they are elected to fill. I am a registered voter but the party affiliate does not matter to me. I have been reading, watching and listening to nearly everything political on both sides of this campaign.
I was praying that Sen. Obama would not choose Sen. Clinton as his running mate because the Clinton's have way too much "baggage". I was pleased with the choice of Sen. Biden. Then I watched to see who Sen. McCain would choose as his running mate. I was in shock when his choice was revealed. I wanted someone really qualified to assume the position of the Presidency if something - old age, assassin, stroke, Alzheimer's - prevented McCain from completing his term.
I am not happy with Gov. Sarah Palin. She says that it's time to have an ordinary citizen in the office of VP or even President. I don't want someone in office who is an ordinary citizen, soccer Mom, Joe Six-Pack, etc. I know a lot of people but I can't think of one I would want as Pres. if McCain was elected and died - or had a stroke. With the current condition of our country, our declining position in the world view, and the shaky world economy, we absolutely cannot have someone so inexperienced who may get called upon to assume the presidency!
Gov. Sarah Palin has stated she didn't blink when Sen. McCain asked her to be his running mate. She said "Yes!" Palin reminds me of a young girl who is so in love with the idea of being asked, engaged, and having a big wedding that the girl gets divorced soon after the big wedding because marriage was hard and not what she expected. Palin is in love with the asking, the campaigning, the prestige and fame. But running the country is hard and not what she is equipped to handle. And I am not at all pleased with McCain's erratic judgment in choosing Palin, voting with Bush - including the Iraq war - 90% of the time, suspending his campaign, wanting to skip the debate, lying so blatantly about his own and Obama's records, etc. I do not want someone so erratic in the office of the presidency.

That's a stretch. I don't even like Giuliani (and I'm a New Yorker) but you've gotta back up the comparison with a bit more than that... You begin with Giuliani's experience as a prosecutor which was the basis for a lot of his intraparty squabbles. As far as I can tell, from interviews with Alaskan Republican like state Sen. Lyda Green, Palin's clashes are because she basically used people when it was convenient then stabbed them in the back when it wasn't. It's a huge stretch to compare her to Giuliani, whose clashes came because of his prosecutorial work, not just because of his political stair-stepping and back-stabbing.

Domenico, good piece. She definitely knows how to use a knife it seams. But for crying out loud, she can not converse intelligently on anything pertinent to the job. Even if she got into a discussion on her supposed strong subject, energy, she'd likely drift off topic. I wonder what Boone Pickens thinks of her energy credentials?

Sarah Palin comes across as brash and a know it all...which we all know by now if it isn't written down for her....well, she knows absolutely nothing!!!
Try as she may Sarah Palin is not engaged enough on all the issues that come with holding the office of VP.
Do we need a female version of Rudi Mr 911....I think not....they may both be great for the Republican base
but that is where it stops.
America doesn't need "mouthpieces or talking heads"
they want action and leadership....sadly lacking here I'm afraid.

It is interesting how quickly information can be put together on someone. I like your comparisons but feel Sara is her own women. From what I can gather of her, short of the one sided interviews and comments the media makes, I for one am impressed. She is exactly what we need. Someone who doesn't have all the connections and obligations. We need a business manager more then we need a spokesmen. Smooth talk is cheap an really hasn't made much difference in the past. 30 year political career. What? and we need more of that?

She is just like GWB- but not quite as bright. yeah he used to be popular in Texas too. The recent comments by Gov. Palin about her being a "Joe Six Pack" type candidate for VP are disturbing; mainly because we've had "Joe Six Pack" as PRESIDENT the last 8 years and that hasn't worked too well for us.
McCain may have voted with Bush 90+% of the time, but it's Palin who REMINDS me of him; painful to watch, and hard to swallow that he is in such a position of power and responsibility. I see the Giuliani comparison, but she’s more like W. to me.

side note: Giuliani and Palin do both have alleged improprieties concerning their dealings with their respective police forces though.
