According to the Chicago Sun-Times Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama has surfaced in the federal corrupton case against his longtime campaign fund-raiser, Tony Rezko.

Tony Rezko and Barack Obama first met in 1990 through Rezmar, one of Rezko's companies. Obama was employed in 1993, by the Chicago law firm Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, who were community groups in partnership with Rezmar. Using these groups, and with Obama's help, the law firm helped Rezko acquire over $43 million in government funds to fix low-income apartments. During one of Chicago's coldest winters in recent years, a dozen different lawsuits caused the City of Chicago to force Rezmar to turn on heat for its tenants.

Barack had decided to move into politics with a run at State Senate, Obama was aware of all of the law suits but still accepted plenty of his donations for this and future runs from Rezko. Obama received $2,000 each from two of Rezko's fast-food businesses. Rezko had become someone Obama could rely on to build his early political foundation.

Obama run against Democrat Congressman Bobby Rush in 2000, Rezko donated another $1,000 each from himself, his wife, and four other employees at Rezmar, as well as bundling an unknown amount from others. Obama did not return these donations at the time but returned it eight years later after having already raised over $100 million in his bid to become President.

When Obama began his campaign for United States Senate in 2003 and 2004, Rezko again helped Obama. He gave $11,500 of his own money, Dan Mahru wo was Rezko’s partner give another $5,000, his wife and brother gave $1,500, and three others gave $3,500, $3,000 and $1,500 each. Rezko then held a fundraiser on Obama's behalf and personally bundled for his Senate and Presidential Campaigns until Obama found it suddenly convenient to return his donations when people began to learn who Rezko was.

Obama disclosed, in a 90-minute interview with Tribune reporters and editors, that Rezko had raised more for Obama's earlier political campaigns than previously known, gathering as much as $250,000 for the first three offices he sought.

Tony Rezko and Barack Obama , friends for almost twenty years. Rezko's antics of exploiting the black and low-income communities in Obama's own district were enough to be sued by the City of Chicago, and now he has been indicted by the United States Department of Justice. But apparently this was not enough for Obama to turn down his dirty money and connections.
