I lived and worked in Alaska for 16 years, my husband was born and raised there, a proud member of the Haida Nation. During my years there, I traveled all over the state with a gov't sponsored program to teach emergency medicine. I can honestly say I don't recall ever meeting anyone quite like Ms. Palin. Most people in Alaska are honest to a fault, independent thinkers and just plain old good people. Please do not think that this woman represents who Alaska really is - she is the antithesis of my impression of Alaskans.

I'm choosing thoughtful, deliberate wisdom over the flailings of the Repubs this year. I'll vote Obama/Biden.

Sarah Palin and the campaign use the Palin kids as props! Disgusting! In the past whenever she has exited her plan she holds on to her youngest, the special needs child,as she walks down the stairs. She will hold onto the child as long as the photo opportunity is available. Once she down on the tarmac she passes the child off to her youngest daughter. During the VP debateat the end notice how the child is handed to her and she walks around with the child (photo-opportunity). Then when the crowd is too large on the platform she hands over the child to the youngest daughter. I commented this to many of my colleagues and even addressed here on First Read. Surprise, surprisem surprise! Last night I saw the first dud, sorry, first dude hold the child as he exited the plane. Now Sarah used her next youngest child to do the honors ... provide mommy dearest Sarah the photo opportunity. I may be cynical and have that to thank or blame the republicans on. If indeed Sarah is using her child as a prop to get votes, then shame on her! And shame on any decent voter who would cast a vote for such a cold and ruthless person!

Knowing now that she had this information beforehand, I don't understand is why she would take her six year old daughter, and expose her to the boos. I can only surmise that she was using her daughter. It reminded me of Hillary Clinton taking her daughter on her trip to a foreign country (Bosnia?) where she said she was fired at. It doesn't sound like in either case these two women were thinking about their children's welfare. Does anyone else get the feeling that the mentality of Palin supporters would also think Brittany Spears is a role model? Seriously!

I'm all for having a woman in national office, but folks this country is in deep, deep trouble. We, as a whole nation, desperately need and richly deserve the utmost qualified officials to steer this great land through these most uncertain times. And when it comes down to it, Gov. Palin ISN'T qualified and as a Republican that is difficult to swallow. I simply cannot bring myself to vote Republican for the sake of party because the experience, vision and stability is abundantly & sorely lacking. Our future is precariously hanging by a thread, and I hope people seriously think about this before casting their vote. I fervently pray that the power of stupidity doesn't prevail.

so she basically used her kids as shields to keep from getting booed...

this woman makes me sick.

And her encouragement of comments like "kill him!!!" at her rallies is an embarrassment.

Conservatives are quick to yell "USA!" and "Country First", but they never stop to think that their appallingly uncivilized, hateful behavior is reflectingly BADLY on the "USA"...

McCain and Palin have stoked this fire and incited this rage- if anything were to happen to Barack, it will be on THEIR heads...
