Bless you Richard Lewis.

Like you, we're just Americans who love our country and know in our hearts that this isn't the country we grew up in. We're just people who cherish the role FDR and Harry Truman played in our parents' generation. And as you said last night, we cherish Bobby Kennedy, JFK, Martin Luther King, the freedom riders, the anti-war demonstrators, the civil rights workers, etc. Yet somewhere along the way, we realized that the far right wing of the Republican Party had more or less taken over this country with their 19th century view points. Well, this being an election year, we decided enough was enough and we weren't going to have it anymore. So we're going to stop them, for good.

Just like you, we all love the country we recall as a kid and want those ideals back. And we know that the only way we can recapture all we lost is to elect an intelligent man who wants for our country what we all want. We're just lucky to have people such as yourself on the air who articulates so well what we as Americans want back, not for ourselves, but for the future our children and grandchildren.

We all owe ourselves as individuals one thing, college educated or not – we all must take the time to educate ourselves on not only what occurred in our country’s history - but also to take the time to educate ourselves on what's going on today.

Mr. Lewis, you should not feel intimidated by the intellectuals who precede you on tv. You are obviously a very intelligent man. But what’s even better, there is something you are not which comes across very clearly - you're not a sell out. Because if you were, you wouldn't care as much as you obviously do. You're an awesome guest on Countdown.

And best of luck to Sarah Silverman. It's a terrific thing she's doing.

Hillary on the SCOTUS? I don't think so.

While that is a powerful position, I don't see her wanting to remove herself (and her husband) from attention grabbing headlines. Not every SCOTUS decision is a Roe V. Wade story. Most of the time, the Supreme Court doesn't make the news -- and I don't think that either Clinton would enjoy that.

Not true that Obama didn't respond to McCain's "hard to reach across the aisle when you're so far to the left" comment. He chuckled (with appreciation for a good line?) and John McCain smiled at the chuckle. This rather took the potential sting out of what McCain said.

Actually Obama did comment on what McCain said about his voting record. He said something like, 'of course you have my voting record when you are voting against the wrong-headed policies of George W. Bush'

I thought it was a perfect response (which is why I remember it so well)
