CBS and NYTimes. Aren't these the same "news" organizations that fabricated total lies about Bush (Forged National Guard records, anyone remember that?) and told lies about McCain having an affair with a staffer. Didn't CBS and Dan Rather announce the Florida voting results in 2000, in Gores favor of course, before the voting was even done in the conservatice panhandle area? Why would anyone in the world believe these ridiculous slime machines?

FR: "...in recent days, Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin have scaled back their attacks on Mr. Obama, although Mr. McCain suggested he might aggressively take on Mr. Obama in Wednesday’s debate."

So many points to make.

First, McCain may have scaled back his attacks in recent days, but it doesn't matter. He's now the negative, angry guy. And voters don't seem prepared to give him yet another mulligan on this.

McCain seems to think so long as he isn't lying and sliming today, all he did yesterday will be forgotten. Sorry, but most voters don't have alzheimer's.

Second, McCain didn't suggest he might attack Obama tonight with the guilt by association stuff. He said he would. Just like he said he would before the second debate.

As we saw with the second debate, John McCain saying he will do something really doesn't mean you can count on John McCain actually doing it.

But this time, I suspect he will. Obama and Biden pretty much assured that, with a common playground taunt. "He doesn't have the nerve to say that to my face."

The question isn't whether John McCain has the nerve; its whether he has the stupidity. But for a guy like McCain, stupidity never gets in the way of responding to a playground taunt, so he'll probably do it.

Third, why did Obama and Biden give McCain that playground taunt? Because for reasons I suggested above, they suspect it will work.

If nothing else, we should ask ourselves if we want a president who someone else can get to do pretty much anything they want simply by throwing down a playground taunt.

For me, I'd rather have someone more mature and reasoned.

This is probably the peak for Obama - I can't really see the numbers getting much higher. But I also don't think they will drop much at this point. His lead seems to be VERY solid and consistent, even with all the economic and political twists and turns lately.

1) The Republican's fundamental philosophy of trickle down economics and total deregulation has now been completely disproven. It does NOT work!

2) Barack Obama's economic UNQUESTIONABLY does more for the middle class.

3) Obama's foreign policy judgment has been shown to be correct on everything from not going into war in the first place, to having a timetable for withdrawal, to meeting with Iran (which Bush is now doing).

4) McCain has FAILED his 3AM crisis exam - his response to the economic crisis has been incoherent and inconsistent.

At this point, these are the factors that are driving voters to Obama, and they aren't the type of things that McCain can "undo" in the remaining three weeks. The die has been cast, the race is over.

Jean Cunningham of Va Board of Elections: "Election officials should keep 'choir robes' or some other clothing at the polls so people wearing materials that promote a candidate could cover them up before voting."

You gotta be kidding me. Sigh. Honestly, we weren't always such a silly state.

Ban partisan poll volunteers altogether. That makes sense, because I'm really not sure volunteers handing out sample ballots are really doing anything to help our democracy. I've worked precinct polling places before. Its pretty slimy stuff - just trying to get that last dig in on the uninformed who get out of their cars not even knowing the names on the ballot they're minutes away from casting.

But here's typical governmental stupidity for you. The concern is that one of those poll volunteers will actually come inside the school or church, wearing one of their buttons. Oh my gosh! So to stop that atrocity from happening, every precinct now is going to keep a supply of choir robes?

And forget the poll workers; even the simple voter who just wants to wear a campaign t-shirt or button that day will have to put on one of those robes?

And yet, when we are shown polls on 'Race for the White House' by your new anchor, David Gregory, they are polls
1. from North Carolina that a week old, and

2. from Virginia that is TWO weeks old.

coincidentally, those are the last polls in either state to show McCain with a lead, altho there was one more recent poll in NC to show a tie. Every other more recent poll in both states shows an Obama lead.

Perhaps you can explain why your station has decided to mislead viewers this way.

It should be pointed out that everyone holding/hosting events for Senator Obama are not "all" paid. The Majority are people who are donating time to his campaign because they support him. In this regard? It should fall to the fault of the McCain campaign that they are unable to compete.

Which just goes to prove what every sensible person has been saying on this issue. If the forms are being caught, it isn't VOTER FRAUD. At best, it's REGISTRATION FRAUD since a person would actually have to show up at the polls and illegally attempt to vote.

This Country has learned its lesson of the past 8 years, and we realize that what we need is not someone of average or below intellect. We need someone who is cerebral, who is diverse, who is truly about the people...

Obama has spent his entire adult life serving people, not because he had to, but because it's what's in him. And for the Repugnants to suggest otherwise is simply distasteful, as well as an insult to all who truly values the good of people.

Obama so has this thing wrapped. I have liked Obama since Febuary this year and I will vote for him in November. I think he will do the best job of the two candidates. That isn't really saying much considering who he is running against and who is opponent represents. I hope that after he wins that he shows I was right and he does good by all standards.

This says it all for me. Initially, I supported Sen McCain because some of Sen Obama's views on certain issues are more liberal than mine. I was fully prepared to vote for Sen McCain until he chose the inexperienced Gov Palin as his running mate. The fact that she has been such a negative force in the campaign, and has really aroused such hateful, intolerant views in her supporters, has greatly troubled me. We don't need someone "polarizing" us--we need someone who will unite us.

I still think Gov Palin could help her party most by deciding to call it quits.

On Drudge, Rassmussen has it 50-45 Obama, and Zogby has it 48.2-44.4 with 7.4 unsure. And I see allot more McCain signs around Iowa than Obiden signs. I heard a report that once CNN pulled some Repubs from their polling data Obamas numbers shot way up.

Yep, with 20 days left this is a slam-dunk for Barack.
