The only time in 2 years I have seen Obama get overcome - even though it was only for a moment - was when he FINALLY accepted the nomination of the democratic party and became the presumptive nominee (in June and I don't remember the state it was a blur by then ... but it was the last one - it was the night of the Michelle Obama fist bump). He did mention something like, "that woman poured everything she was into me" and he stopped and took a breath and he was momentarily overcome. Obama continually demonstrates his ability to triage events and make rational decisions about relative importance. Undoubtedly the Mcslime campaign will attempt to take political advantage of this decision, however just like the rest of their mud it will rebound on them. Frankly, I respect and admire Obama for his decision and steadfast devotion to his grandmother; a pivotal influence in his life, a loving and demanding figure that inculcated the values which he displays in both “normal” life and the incredible stress of this campaign.

Reading between the lines and with years of healthcare management experience, makes me believe that she decided to spend her last days in the comfort of her home, with her grandson and this will be his last chance to see her alive.
Based on all that I read, this will be only a blip in his Presidential campaign but it will be a defining moment in his life and I respect that. I can both sympathize and emphasize with what he must be feeling and dreading; my sincere condolences to you, Sir.

How sad that none of his most formative important people can share this moment with Sen. Obama. His mother died before he became Senator, his grandfather has also died. His Grandma is all he has left from his childhood, and she has been ill enough to not be able to travel all through the campaign.

Should anyone critize this decision, I would deem them cold hearted. Barack's decision to be with his beloved grandmother who raised him and is the only member of his family remaining who raised him, is so very touching. I was raised by my grandmother and I can tell you to not be with her during this time must be so very hard, but it is a chance he must take. While the campaign is important, is grandmother probably only has a few days left on this earth and that is what Robert Gibbs did not openly say why Barack made the decision to go and be with her. This is deep and abiding love people. Say what you must about the man as a politician but his is his grandmother who he loves very much. We must give him time to be with her. The campaign will still be there when he returns. I understand the pain he must be experiencing - the pull of staying and campaigning or be at his grandmother's bedside.

The choice is not really one, surly a couple of days will not bring the campaign to a hault.

Regardless of the outcome on 11/4, if (God forbid) this is the end, I pray that his grandmother can see the next 14 days through and know the outcome
