It doesn't matter how you play the game, but just whether you win or lose. And to lose is awful because what you really lose is face, forget the lose of thousands of dead troops and thousands more maimed. They are merely the players in the game and can always be replaced. The GOP wants more war. Wouldn't it be grand if all those who want this war were drafted and put on the front lines? Then we could bring our regular troops home for a much needed rest. Go for it!

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

It is WAY pas time for people like Reid to stop apologizing for telling the truth. Petraeus is on record as stating there is no military solution for Iraq, just an Iraqi political one. There IS a REAL war, and our way of life is at risk. It's between Islamic fundamentalist heretics and democracy. However we came to be involved in Iraq, and I think the Bush Administration has bungled both the reason for Iraq and the execution of the "war" we need strong troops and united public opinion and sacrifice to defend against the REAL war. Being pinned down and bleeding in Iraq is precisely what Al-Quaida wants. And, if we leave without victory, we WILL embolden the real enemy. Quagmire, anyone?
There's been a fairly balanced (for them) PBS series called "America at the Crossroads' and I was struck by a statement from an Imam who (basically) said that " Democracy and Islam cannot coexist. A democracy decides by the people's opinion. In Islam, God decides and He does not need the people's opinion."
Somebody smarter than the current Administration needs to come up with a solution, quick. Is Reid right? The Iraqis have to solve their own problems; bigger ones loom for us.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

For giving aid and comfort to the enemy you are hereby convicted of treason.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

I support our troops, however, funds need to be cut to end this war. And for everyone here mentioning the word treason. Get a grip. Sharing your opinion in not treason. Saying we have a failed policy or lost the war is not treason. Questioning the intelligence of our leadership given the state of the Iraq War is not treason.

I also find it ironic that those who stake claim to having true "American" values (that's you Christy Adams, Everson and Rick) have the a fundamental lack of understanding of our government. If you have a HS diploma, you must have had a class on American Government and you would realize the constitution does not have a clause for the impeachment of a senator. Not to mention the one place in America that free speech is absolutely free (no prosecution for slander, hate speech or inciteful speech) is on the floor of the U.S. Congress. If Harry Reid wanted to yell "Fire" on the floor of the Senate or call George Bush a felon, he could without consequence. If you claim to be American, understand what it takes to be an American. The GOP, George Bush and the rest of the wingnuts here don't have the market cornered on that definition. Grow up.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

We can't win in Iraq because we aren't Iraqis. Sunnis or Shiites or Kurds or some combination of the above will eventually win in Iraq. So what is victory? Our side (whoever that is) wins and we continue our defacto occupation from permanent bases on Iraqi soil? The oil companies win and continue to profit from obscene production sharing agreements? The blame for losing (whatever that is) gets shifted to the Democrats in time for the '08 elections? Just what is it?

In the meantime the death count rises and US moral authority falls. There is no victory - just loss. We must leave now.

Then there was the ROMAN WALL In GREAT BRITON.
Then there was the BERLIN WALL.
Then there was the GREAT US|MEXICAN WALL
and NOW we have the GREAT WALL OF BAGHDAD.
April 20, 2007
U.S. soldiers are building a three-mile wall to protect a Sunni Arab
enclave surrounded by Shiite neighborhoods in a Baghdad area
“trapped in a spiral of sectarian violence and retaliation,” the military said.
They said the concrete wall, including barriers as tall as 12 feet, “is one of the
centerpieces of a new strategy by coalition and Iraqi forces to break the
cycle of sectarian violence” in Baghdad.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18227048/
I do not recall ANY of the previous Walls
solving ANY problems.
This is GREAT GENERAL PATRAEUS' plan to
WIN THE "WAR" in Iraq? Nah, it could not be his idea
it must of come from the Greatest Military leader of all time:
GEORGE W. BUSH
This is our TAXPAYERS MONEY AT WORK?

I guess to Moat they started building in September of 2006 did not work out well.
The new plan was to secure Baghdad by encircling it with a MOAT. This was supposed to keep the bad guys out.
Our GI's have been manning backhoes and bulldozers since last July. I thought that the Kings
in Castles found out that MOATS did not work around 1400 A.D.
How many millions did this MOAT cost the US taxpayers?
Gimme a break!

I am not trying to bait anyone. I am not trying to put anyone on the spot. Many on these message boards say you cannot negotiate with a terrorist--all they understand is force. So, does anyone have an idea of how the US should end this war? We could double or triple the number of troops. But that would mean reinstating the draft, because our present military is spread too thin to continue the way we are. Some GIs will say they don't want to serve alongside a draftee, but draftees fought well and honorably in WWII. I have heard that the quickest way to defeat an enemy is to demoralize him, so we could destroy the mosques. Or we could demonstrate we mean business by pulling our troops back from a chosen city and bombing it to the ground (ala Dresden, Germany). Or as a last resort, we could use an A bomb. This would not only stop the war in its tracks, as it did WWII, but would make it clear to Iran that even though they develop a nuke bomb, we have more of them than any other nuke-armed nation. Some people who post on these message boards seem to be knowledgeable, and they post intelligent responses to others' question, but, although many say the US must win in Iraq, no one has offered a workable strategy on exactly how to accomplish this. There must be options other than those mentioned above. I'd sincerely like to read others' solutions. Not just opinions, but honest-to-God workable solutions.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

As long as we don't say we lost, I guess we win. Have you thought about the fact that while we are trying to stand between two waring tribes in Iraq, the Talaban is reclaiming Afganistan! Are you able to think at all outside the misrepresentations of G.W.Bush and his staff of "advisors"? Please, please people, open your God given minds and THINK! The Bush vendetta must be ended, and the people of Iraq allowed to form the kind of government that suits them best! Tell them Senator Reid that their false accusation of not supporting the troops is their position, not any others. Tell them about the lack of personal armor, tell them about the unarmored Hummers STILL sitting in Kuwait waiting for the armor plates, tell them about the unarmored supply trucks in daily convoys, tell them about the combat damaged equipment STILL unrepaired and the last GOP Congress NOT funding the repair bill of 19 Million dollars, but instead appropriating 20 MILLION dollars for a 'Victory' celebration, tell them about the units that rotate out leaving their equipment for their replacements because it was not issued to them before they arrived in Iraq AND tell them that even in the face of all else, the military is still spending BILLIONS on a Space Missile Defense System that has not shot down a single Damned thing! Then after that laundry listing, Ask pointedly, Now, President Bush, who is 'REALLY' not supporting out troops?

Then tell them that you are asking for a Bill of Impeachment for High Crimes and Misdemeanors and if you want to push the envelope, ask for a bill appointing a Special Prosecutor to investigate the actions of this administration in starting, continuing and mismanaging this FUBAR effort and investigate possible criminal acts, and illegally suspending Constitutional protections for Americans and violating their civil rights.

That’s what you need to say; stop being a wimpy apologist, call the dumb ba*ta*d a liar! THEN PROCEED WITH THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS. When that is accomplished, indict Chimpo and Shooter, give’em a fair trial, then hang the guilty crooks and proceed with forfeiture of his and Cheney’s ill-gotten gains and apply it directly to the national DEFICIT.

HOW do we get out of Iraq with dignity and with the least loss of lives (our military and Iraqi civilians)? Impeaching the main players of either party will not get the US out of Iraq. (While impeachment proceedings are ongoing, more people will die in the war.) One option I didn't mention in my previous post--talk with Russia and the UK; perhaps they will tell us what they did wrong when fighting in the same region in the previous century. BTW, I do not personally advocate the solutions in this or the previous post. WE NEVER INTENDED TO LEAVE IRAQ! 62 years after V-E Day we still have a whole armor corps based in Germany. Almost 61 years after WWII ended we are in Japan. 109 years after the end of the Spanish American War we still have a base in CUBA, Guantanamo Bay (Gittmo)! We've been in Saudi Arabia since Aug. 2nd, 1990, and Kuwait since February 1991! I can go on and on.Why is it the default position of the ignorant liberals and a few so-called "moderates" that we NEED to leave Iraq?

Iraq is THE central front in the war on terror, and you want to concede it to the enemy, even though the troops WANT to be there. It’s an all volunteer military, and nearly everyone had a choice to reenlist or join since AFTER the invasion. Now I know why only 9-11% of the current US Military votes democrat. I met only 2 liberals when I was in the service. I thought it was a BRILLIANT military strategy, to invade Iraq after Afghanistan.... Look at a map for God's sake. Creating a democracy in the HEART of the Middle East - the land of Mesopotamia, the Garden of Eden - creates a land void of Wahhabbism and state controlled media that preaches violence and propaganda against the infidel. It's going to take a full generation, 20 years or more to start to fully work, but it no doubt will. In the short term it will deny the enemy a safe haven backed with state funds from oil proceeds. And immediately, it GUARANTEED that Sadaam would never again attempt to produce or acquire WMDs.

We knew the terrorists will follow us wherever we go. We knew they would regroup and flock to us as partisans. Afghanistan is the most inhospitable place on the planet to defend territory. It goes from 110 to below freezing in 24 hours, with arid deserts and elevations regularly above 16,000 ft., has millions of places to hide, and gives the advantage to smaller, more mobile forces (ie. small groups of poorly organized jihadists.) It was time to open a 2nd front.

HERE's the problem. Bush CANNOT go on TV and say, "We want to lure our enemies into a land in which we can slow-bleed the enemy on favorable terrain. We want to change the face of the Middle East, and create democracies in the 3 main sponsors of terror, that happen to border Iraq: Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia." WE WOULD LOSE ALL SUPPORT in the Arab world if he said that! It's a delicate balance, but Bush chose to bite his tongue, and take a massive poll hit to save national security. THAT is a leader.

Isn't it blatantly obvious that the democrats stand to lose politically if we WIN? They don't even try to hide it anymore. So it shouldn't surprise you that EVERY single "TROOP WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE" that dems have proposed is scheduled for BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION! (14 in all.) They know they are considered “soft” and “weak” on national defense. That is their strategy to win back the white house, and they do not care about the consequences. A win in Iraq, or an attack on Iran would destroy all that.

What Democrat Senate leader Harry Reid did was treasonous. Did anyone watch Al-Jazeera today? Talk about giving aid and comfort to our enemies... From Cairo to Kandahar, Islamic Extremists are celebrating in the streets, and terror cell leaders are using it as proof that Bin Laden was right… America will cut and run after only 3.000 casualties. Ask you grandfathers how many Americans died on D-Day. Ask a police officer how many murders there are in Philly, DC, or Chicago each year. How about some historical, logical prospective? End of rant. Do what you want. I say Reid (D) must resign, or should be arrested for Treason. He is the current Baghdad Bob, Tokyo Rose, and Neville Chamberlain all in one embodiment. OUR way of life WILL be affected by what we do... more than you may know.

Meanwhile,Democrat Majority Leader Hoyer stopped in Cairo to meet with the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood.By the time that the departing congressmans jet vapour-trails had disappeared over the Med Sea,its leader Muhammed Imaghi-Akef was calling for holy war ''against the US and the Zionist''.al Qaedas movement into Gaza has this guys fingerprints all over it,as HAMAS is a branch of the Brotherhood and Akef has been seeking stronger ties with the Wahabbist terrorists.Dems are now being gulled by the 'moderate'image of HAMAS,that speaks in clipped English tones picked up from stints at Princeton and Eton, dresses in western suits, and apparently [rightly,if it is the Democrats we are talking],believes that this is all that is needed in order to get the West, led by Bush,to cave in and begin sending the Palis dough again that will not end up in the hands of those who wear Saville Row suits,or even ordinary Palestinians where it would belong, but into the hands of terrorists, and kaffedah-wearing bunco artists of the Arafat stripe.Herein lay the crux to the problem.Bush has created a genuine mess in Iraq, complete with 'Halliburton'spectacles of excess.[Bear in mind that Bush critic George Soros has made millions off of Halliburton, while Bush,to be fair, has not earned a cent, and that Democrats such as Reid,Pelosi and Feinstein have cashed in on companies engaging in war profiteering in Iraq.www.opensecrets.org or The Center for Responsive Politics,a non-partisan political money watchdog for more on these bi-partisan shenanagins].Yet the Democrats are equally clueless as to what to accomplish in the Middle East, worse, they seem to willfully seek a nearly Chamberlain-like groveling in the face of arrogant jihadist dictators,as if[as we saw in Cairo and Damascus],this will do any good. There seems to be no place that they will not prostrate themselves. In America, they hang with CAIR allies. In Europe, they seek the admission of a clearly radicalizing Turkey into the EU,and are ignoring the returning threat in the Balkans, caused by Islamics this time rather than Serbs. In the Middle East, their policy positions are opposed by a clear majority of US soldiers serving in the field[www.military.com,for the reams of abuse that are being showered upon Pelosi and Reid at this moment,by those of all branches serving in Iraq and Afghanistan],but are being praised by none other than FATAH,HAMAS,the Brotherhood,AL AQSAS and HEZBOLLAH who utilize American press-releases of the Reid sort to maximum effectiveness. These are not the kind of people one would want on their side,if you happen to be an American politician.Reid doesn't want anyone attacking his patriotism, but at the same time the guys best press in the Middle East is coming from the jihadis. These people actually consider the Democrats to be 'thoughtful and articulate'in their stated policies. We will see just how ''thoughtful''they are when Iran gets the Bomb, another war in Lebanon is fired up,or another portion of a major American or European city lies in smoking ruins.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

Bob - if you think this is treason, just wait until '08 when we kick the rest of those Republican SOBs out into the street. Now we've taken down Saddam and finally everyone with a brain knows that our administration was lying to us from the get-do about the WMDs, etc. We've killed thousands of innocent people in Iraq, and our presence has drawn the terrorists there and they've killed other innocents. We've lost over three thousand of our own young people. For what? So we can continue a never-ending war? The Russians almost destroyed their economy and their military fighting year after year in Afghanistan. We're on the road to doing the same.

Mr. Reid is not a traitor. He's just telling the truth which is something that has rarely been heard in Washington since the Bush administration took office.

That country has not been liberated, it is being permanently occupied. Huge permanent bases are being built in Iraq, and our reasons for occupying Iraq have nothing to do with the lives or well being of the Iraqi people, or with "fighting terrorism". This is all part of the American Empire, intended to have troops, air bases and naval bases all over the world, forever, in furtherance of our imperial ambition. Or until the Empire collapses unpon itself in bankruptcy. Rome gave up democracy to keep its empire, while Great Britain gave up its empire to keep democracy. Treason - if you're labeling Reid with Treason for wanting to get our people out of Iraq, you better hand this administration a Treason charge for lying their way into Iraq. I think the only possiblity (and it's a slim one) is to partition Iraq into three separate countries: one for Sunnis, one for Shiites, and one for Kurds. All three of these groups carry grudges against one another that go back centuries. They hate each other, and nothing we can do will change that anytime soon. Modern Iraq was put together artificially following British occupation during World War I. The reason for Saddam Hussein was that only someone like that (a dirty, rotten, ruthless, murdering scumbag) could hold such a "country" together. Taking him out created a power vacuum which IMHO only another dirty, rotten, ruthless, murdering scumbag can fill. Better to partition the country and let each of the relatively homogeneous groups figure things out for themselves. Still have the big problem of how to divvy up the oil money. And Turkey (a major US ally in the region) will be royally pissed to have an independent Kurdish state on their border. It ain't gonna be easy...

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

Dogface Soldier, Ft. But even his General Patreus has stated there is no military solution in Iraq. So why are we still in Iraq if a diplomatic solution is the only answer? In the meantime, our soldiers continue to die or be maimed for life with no change in the situation whatsoever. Its pure madness, very similar to the madness the U.S. displayed almost 40 yrs ago when Johnson "surged" our troops in the "Tet Offensive". It was the beginning of the death spiral that would engulf our best and brightest, culminating in 58,000 U.S. military killed in action. The reason it went on for so long was because we didn't want our reputation tarnished as the mighty, invincible U.S. military. All the military advisors knew Vietnam was a lost cause but fundamental human pride stood in the way of stopping the madness that consumed so many lives, including 2 million of the enemy.

Under different policial circumstances, Bush woulod be facing impeachment proceedings. But the country does not want another round of impeachment after the Clinton saga, although to an independent observer, Clinton's lying about a consensual sexual affair comes no where close to an impeachable offense compared to taking the country to war when it was not necessary to do so.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

The War on Terror requires a global swat team to find and liquidate terrorist training camps, and CIA infiltration of terrorists groups to determine their plans and activities. They didn't attack us, and we all know the story of how we got over there, not the why's which we will learn years after Bush has left office, someone will finally cave and say that Iraq was planned way back in 98 and Bush and Cheney just needed an excuse to go in, 9-11 provided that. These people could care less about the Soldiers, I'm so sick and tired of these so called "patriots" accusing anyone and everyone who doesn't agree with them that they are "traitors, cut and runners' etc.
These people are talking "suits" who think because they are capable to stringing a sentence together, except for their idiot leader, that were all suppose to go along, well, I may be well over 50, but I can tell you this, you cannot put out a fire without water, and in the case of Iraq, we ran out of water long ago!
I believe that recent polls show 69% of the AMERICAN PEOPLE, want us out of Iraq, What part of majority doesn't the President understand? Nothing speaks more of patriotism then trying to avoid our military being killed, as apposed to using them as targets for Bush legacy!!! So, if Bush decided to veto the bill, then he's the one cutting off funds to the troops. Joe in Florida..and using these secret thoughts..which are contrary to what he is actually saying.. he supports Bush!

Some want to impeach Reed. Interesting since these same folks dont want to hold Bush accountable for the disaster he created. If finding WMDs and destroying them was the reason for the war then we have lost since there are none there. If denying a safe haven for Al Quida was the reason then we have lost. Al Quida was never there. If building a democracy in the Middle East was the goal..we lose again. If destroying the American military, ruining our name around the globe, killing thousands needlessly and tying us up in a no win situation was the goal, then I guess whoever's goal that was has won! ( Osama are you reading this?)
You Bush lovers are absolute hypocrites if you dare tell me or anyone else on this board that if Clinton had done exactly the same thing you would not be calling for his impeachment and trial and worse! I cant deal with the hypocricy of all these Bush bots!

These people are ruining America and you just dont want to admit you are wrong and the entire war was and is wrong...And now Bush is not going to withdraw primarily because he wants to hand off another of his many failures to someone else who will then take the blame when the entire situation collapses.
We always hope that who ever is President will bring out the best in the US people.. Bush has clearly brought out the worst!

I believe Sen Hagel is one who thinks along those lines--dividing Iraq into three manageable areas. As for the long posts by Lee Holmes and Joe Brignoli--interesting stuff and it appears to be factual. (Although how will anyone know, w/o a lot of digging into past history?) But all the rhetoric does not solve the problem facing the US at THIS time, unless you are correct in saying that the Admin had no plan to EVER leave the ME. If that is so, well, we do have a long way to go to match the deaths in Vietnam and the other wars. Which once again brings up the thought of reinstating the draft. Because, will the US be able to get enough volunteers to match the deaths in Vietnam? Perhaps so. When a GI is interviewed on the battle field, he always says he believes in what he is doing. Those who are wounded want to return. (A post from a GI on this board said much the same.) The families of those who died, say they are proud of their GIs, that they died doing what they thought was right. So, back from history, please Holmes and Brignoli, and to the present: If you are correct that the US will be in the ME for a long time, HOW do we accomplish that and still retain US dignity and HOW does the US repair its damaged image in the world community? There has to be something more concrete that "stay the course" or "bring the troops home".

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

I believe it's time to bring the troops home. Benning: I don't care if you and the other soldiers don't appreciate our "fair weather support." Your job, as a soldier, is to follow the orders set down by the commander and accomplish a mission. It's not your fault (or mine) that the Commander in Chief and his staff have put the military into a no-win situation where the military objectives have already been achieved and it's difficult to identifiy who the enemy is.

If what we're doing in Iraq is so central to the overall war on terror, who is the enemy in Iraq that we're fighting? The Sunni insurgents? The Shia insurgents? Al Quaeda?

You see, we can support the troops and have complete disdain for what they're being used for. The U.S. Military is not trained to act as babysitter, or referee in the midst of a civil war among three or four entities as each struggles to assume a position of power and influence. I don't think any of the players in the Iraq civil war even view the United States of America as their enemy. We're just in the way and getting our soldiers killed because of it.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

I'm really trying to understand where the Ultra-Right Wingnuts are coming from... trying to understand the mindset. This is what I have so far--

Grounds for Impeachment:
1) Getting a BJ and lying about it. (Clinton)
2) Claiming we have lost a war. (Reid--Yes, someone above ACTUALLY suggested we should impeach the leader of the senate. SEE CIVICS 101 to reference the stupidity of this assertion.)

Grounds for Praise, and a 2nd Term:
1) Keeping hundreds of thousands of Americans in the middle of a thousand year ethnic conflict that now has erupted into a civil war in the hopes that we can secure reconstruction projects for Administration friendly contractors, and build US bases to ensure energy resources. Or, if those words are too big--"fight them there so we don't have to fight them here." (Bush)

2) Drain US financial resources into military spending and create a mound of debt that threatens the economic security of our children and grandchildren. (Bush, Reagan)

OK... I get it now. If you do something that benefits yourself, you should be IMPEACHED. But if you do something that benefits yourself, and screws a bunch of other people in the process, you should be PRAISED.

American credibiltity is at an all-time low, but rather than acknowledge this "war" is a failure that has cost the lives of more than three thousand troops, the right side of the aisle would rather perpetuate the lie rather than face the truth. Since day one of this war, all we've seen fromt he right side of the aisle is the impugning of the people's patriotism who question their policies. The right has yet to address the fact that not one single pre-war assertion that was cited by the Bush administration as justification for this war has turned out to be credible. Instead, all we hear from the war are shifting rationale and justifications for a war that they themselves refuse to fight. This war has been given every pseudo and ludacris justification that the right can muster. Ironically, not a single one of those "justifications" have sent the right to recruiting offices in droves.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

Reid and Pelosi are handing Iraq over to Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda is making plans as we speak to use Iraq's oil wealth to further its terrrorist agenda. Maybe someone can tell me is Bush so clueless that four years after the invasion of Iraq he still hasn't gone to Congress to increase the size of the Army and Marines by at least 100,000. Do the obvious. Break the country into three countries like it was before it was conbined into one by outside forces. Use the same borders that were there in the beginning. Call them Kurdistan, Shitestan and Sunnistan. Set up a way to share the wealth(by force is necessary) until they see the sensibility of it. Move away and let them bicker over the borders. It will eventually settle down to some livable arrangement. Now, help each one rebuilt their infrastucture. I suspect the world world would like apart of that since there would be money to be made. Just don't let Halliburton know about it. They will steal them blind. Then get the hell out. Fow now, stop the killing of American troops. That whole country is not worth one American life. Then do the simple things that make us independent of their oil. We can do that this year with simple regulations on gas mileage standards (inforced). Damn the oil barons of this world. We need a cleaner place to live.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

What in tarnation is wrong with you Libs!

The Armed Forces are maintained as a deterrent to our enemies from starting a war against us not as an encouragement for us to start an optional war. If you believe the purpose is to start wars of agression then let's change the name from Defense Department to War Department. Bush believes that God placed him in office and/or that he is God. President Bush has rarely, if ever, made decisions based on the good of the American people - he has his own agenda. It is also interesting to point out that over 150 attorney/advisors in his administra-tion graduated from Oral Roberts Law School. Regardless of the lack of leadership under his watch, someone should be held responsible for the numerous tragedies that have occurred due to his incompetence and irresponsibility. Sadly, this rarely happens if politics is involved in this country - money rules, the poor suffer and life goes on. How much more suffering can George W. cause before his 2 years is up? This is a scary thought.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

POLITICS!!!!MONEY!!!GREED!!!We can never leave the country of Iraq, fully. We will always have a prescence there. Unfortunately! The one thing that Bush, did not take into consideration was the religous undertones that drive the people of Iraq. Saadam put fear in all factions of the country. Now they are fighting amongst each other because each beleives that their way of Islam is the correct way instead of thinking like the western minded person would look at things. Until, the religous leaders of each faction gets together and discuss Iraq, with the new democratic government......NONE OF THIS IS EVER GOING TO GET ANY BETTER FOR ANYONE. I do not understand why no one can see this. They do not think like we do. And, someone needs to realize this quick fast and in a hurry. Iraq is an OIL rich country. Oil is black gold, we, the entire world all need it. Meanwhile, male, PRIDE, from Bush and Cheney is leading us further down a road to disaster. They are just waiting until '08 to get out and not be responsible anymore for getting us out of the country. Meanwhile, our Troops and their family continue to suffer. War is a man's idea of "I want control, because my way is the best way, not taking into consideration, that not all people are alike". Peace could be brought to the region, who is going to step up to the plate and say enough is enough. I feel for the Iraqi people, the innocent ones. The children, women and the old people. They have no idea of what their future is going to be like. Put aside, how we got there. We cannot change that. Without even admitting fault or wrong doing.....some diplomacy needs to start NOW. Impeaching Bush and Cheney would be a joy to me. But, it is not going to happen. So, stop the bickering and get the leader of the Kurd, the Shiites, the Sunnis and the new government together, even if it is out of the country of Iraq and make some changes. Quickly. People are dying who do not deserve to die.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

Marlowe Dobarganes, Ft. Why hasn't Cheney been brought before Congress and drilled about his lies and deceits? First and foremost that moron we have for a President and his war mongers (Shooting Cheney, Raging Rummy and Girl Friend Promoting Wolfowitz wanted an invasion of Iraq and got it. Secondly, they then played multiple choice in coming up with the many pretextual reasons for why we needed to invade Iraq. What they failed to consider was what would happen if Saddam were broght down. They lied for getting us there and they are still offering idiotic and empty rationale for our staying there. Osama is laughing his cave dented rear end off as he enjoys total freedom to run his terrorist campaign against all infidels. We could leave Iraq tomorrow and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to our security. The threat to our security has been and remains the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Our invasion of Iraq merely provided them a target to practice their tactics on, not to mention some pretty convincing (to the Muslim world) ammunition to use in recruiting future terrorists. And finally, throughout it all the perverse incompetence that has been exhibited by people appointed purely for their political affliliation without regard for their competence or lack thereof at all levels of this administration has never been equaled in previous administrations. We cannot afford another two years under these blundering idiots. Our troops deserve better.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

What makes me sick is when something like Virginia Tech happens everyone is soooooo heart broken and lost for a reason for such a "tradgedy". For the United States to pull out now would only leave the Middle East in turmoil. The backlash the united States and its allies would take, I feel would be worse than anything we've seen. Patriotic Americans aren't losers, were driven to win. Our country's energy should be focused on resloving the issues surrounding Iraq. The United States and its Allies have the intelligence, the strength, the know how, the CAN DO attitude; and now they want us to quite and run. It amazed me that anyone could ignore what he had done. Now, its finally happening that the "do-no-wrong" George Bush is being seen for what he really is: a poor leader making poor decisions. I hope that we stay over there and continue to defend our way of life against terrorists who want to convert the world to their way. For all you who say we must leave now I say, why is it the people of Iraq don't share your beliefs, unless of course they are terrorists. And what about the palistinian problem? Did Pres. Bush make that up too?? Did he cause them to kidnap Israeli soldiers who, in spite of a peace agreement have not yet returned them? Where is the outrage over that?? A true liberal thinks everyone ought to be able to go swimming in the ocean, until of course that someone is using their beach and then it is a problem. I assume you think everyone ought to get along untill you actually have to pay a price, and then you don't believe it anymore. As for me, When the next elections come around, I truly hope that Democrats do not prevail... they have a history of screwing things up royally, and this screw up will be their grandest. On the other hand, you might just win, and get your way... learn to wear turban or veil; learn to speak farsi and give up your freedom and way of live, or, just live in the aftermath of all the biological, chemical and nuclear residue that doesn't exist. Think it can't happen? Think occupied Europe and Nazi Rule because no one believed the threat. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it... whether you believe it or not.

Forget you are "Democrat". Forego calling yourself "patriot" and your opponent "trator". For the moment, set aside your quarrels with followers of religions not your own. And if you can, turn your attention away from declarations on the Senate floor, or decks of aircraft carriers that a war has been lost, or won. Something far worse is happening; something more urgent than regional differences, abortion battles, party loyalty, or debating a president's intelligence. We are losing our Country, our ideals of liberty and justice for all, our sense of fairness, honesty and decency. We are losing our respect for the rule of law on which the country was founded. We have already lost civility in our public and private discourse, and our respect and fellow feeling one for another. And we have even lost our ability to value each human life so long as body counts fall within "an acceptable range". So I ask you, of what significance is all the shouting over a war won or lost, if in the process of waging that war, we the people fail to protect and hold dear the principles on which our representative democracy was founded? Of what matter is victory or defeat on foreign soil if our beloved Country has sacrificed its heart and soul?

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

This war wasnt started because of WMD.We (our government)had been wanting a democratic country in this area because of the instability there. He (bush) needed a reason and found it in 911.Everyone (America) believed everything bush said. Those that questioned him were called traitors or cowards. I have served on two tours for my country,I am proud of my country, and will more than likely sign back in the military once this camander in chief is gone.I love and trust my country, but i do not trust my government.I hate seeing my friends there(Iraq)but i dont see how we can leave right now. These people are really decent and the majority just want peace and to wake up in the morning and find their house in one peice and their family still alive. What we need is someone in office who will listen to the advice he is given. But let me interject some ideas. 1. Who knows so much about Senator Reid and would take the time to write a dissertation on his life. Sounds kinda rediculous, unless you are tied to the Bush Foundation. Did you, at any point, look into the relationship between Bush and the Oil industry and find all the actions that have taken place which caused our gas prices to rise over 1.50 a gallon in one year. Or is this not on your docket. Ironic that we were not trading Oil with Iraq prior to the War, why the increase in price? Could it be that Mr. Intellect (Bush) alienated all our trade partners in the middle east, except the King of Saudia Arabia, with who he may be having an affair with. (Kissing on National TV) Oh yeah, don't forget a certain college refused to name it's library after him (George Bush), thought it would negatively affect their campus. Not to popular. Oh, don't forget, one of the fifty states (Maryland) changed it's electoral vote procedure because they did not want a rehash of the last two elections. (Idiot in the white house) 2. Why is the military Republican centered. Hint, they are the ones that notoriously send them to combat and make claims like "we will pay you more." Even though Historically Dems sign bills for better supplemental pays. If you are a solider, you are obligated by the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to support the decisions of your superior officers. This is fed to you by your Chain of Command and you are told to never make it seem like you are against the current initiatives. Believe me, the troops would be absolutely excited if they learned that they were being pulled out of this situation. 3. Trusting a politician is really irrelevant, trust the idea that 70% of Americans are against this monstrosity. Every elected offical works at the pleasure of the people. They are not an island, untouchable. Senator Reid is just following the demands of the people, which is his job. Unlike President or is it King Bush. He refuses to listen to the what I am sure he calls the ignorant masses. (That is ironic) After all what do we know? 4. Impeachment would just lead to more issues, like who is going to fill the position, Cheney, that is like going from dumb to dumber. Then who is next? Conde, not such a good idea. She too has pissed off a good deal of international leaders. So nuts and bolts, we have to live with this idiot. 5. Permanent bases, yes we have one in Japan, Germany, Kuwait. Why, Japan, (as a country, not independent terrorist) attacked our country, German almost took over all of Europe, and we were in Kuwait to keep Sadam at bay. Just so he remembers that if he gets any of those crazy ideas, we will put our foot us his A** like we did the last time. Bases for a purpose. One way to send a message to Al Qaeda is to Nuc Afghanistan and really stir the pot, not likely due to the massive number of Civilian Causalities. 6. Bush thought it would be strategically sound to draw Al Qaeda into Iraq to fight them on better land. I thought we were trying to avoid this, but I have been wrong before. Have you been to Iraq, it is not that much better, if not it is worse. During the Summer it is 130 Degrees, how is this better land. Not to mention, put them in a civilian population that is subservient by nature and have been taught to hate your country. Next, surround your troops with radical muslims who at a moments notice will stab them in the back. How is this this great strategy? Oh you are referring to that Tom and Jerry plan that these idiots Concocted to put a democracy in the middle of the muslim world, not really a good idea. Muslim will tend to side with muslim. Stategy+Bush/Cheney=Disaster Enough said.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

Just an FYI, world intelligence knew Saddam had the desire to get WMD's but told George W. Idiot to allow the World Process to do its job, build up support for the initiative, then execute with the world behind you. His lack of patience and rational thought pushed us into this war alone. Powell, the most intelligent man in his staff, told him to wait until he could get the support needed for the war, and he refused to listen to him, he preferred to listen to vice moroon and idiot of defense. Now his failures will resonate through history as a worse military operation in the history of man kind. At least in Vienam, the South was invaded by the North which provided us the justification to go there. The reason for this war reminds me of King Xerses attack of the Spartans, his arrogance will always plague his place in history.

Reid fires back at Bush, GOP

For those of you (as I am) who are truly serious about the impeachment of Geo. God bless you because you'll feel burned eventually like the rest of us. As a moderate, I had some faith but it's long gone. Nice talk up front, but lies still sting no matter how you spin them. The civil war in Iraq is a mess, plain and simple. We should never have gone, but since we are there can we please get my buddies home soon? Haven't they been put through enough, Mr. Cheney? Their blood is on your hands, yours and the preseident's. I am a Christian but I sure didn't get the memo on this being a Christian war. God didn't send Bush the message, Mr. Cheney did. Maybe he whispered it in his ear while Bush was sleeping.

For God's sake bring those young men and women home to their families. And an apology would be nice - from every one in the Bush administration - to our troops, their families and all tax payers. Bill Clinton’s Speech from Dec. 16th, 1988

PRESIDENT CLINTON: Good evening.
Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.
Six weeks ago, Saddam Hussein announced that he would no longer cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors called UNSCOM. They are highly professional experts from dozens of countries. Their job is to oversee the elimination of Iraq's capability to retain, create and use weapons of mass destruction, and to verify that Iraq does not attempt to rebuild that capability. The inspectors undertook this mission first 7 1/2 years ago at the end of the Gulf War when Iraq agreed to declare and destroy its arsenal as a condition of the ceasefire.
The international community had good reason to set this requirement. Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq.

Ignorance means "lacking knowledge," not "stupid." So let me educate you (again).

Every quote you utter and every statement about withdrawal from Iraq is fueling the rhetoric of Islamic Extremism. Does anyone have a clue what we are really facing? Don't you see that it is MOST OF YOU LIBERALS who are causing the Iraq war to linger? Indirectly, YOU are causing our troops to be killed every day. Bin Laden predicted that the will of the American people will falter. I have to admit, I did not believe him at the time. But after reading ALL the above quotes (except for mine, and my 1 or 2 defenders), I am starting to fear for the safety of our children. This is utter insanity. I think liberals are prolific politicians, and I think you mean well, but take a look at a casualty chart for God’s sake, compared with American public opinion polls. There is a DIRECT RELATION between the number of attacks on our military and Iraqi civilians blown to bits, and public opinion polls. But I also think the overwhelmingly liberal media is more to blame than the opinions you give to pollsters. When it comes to geo-political events and military strategy, you are so perverse, misinformed, and indoctrinated that you fail to see what is so obvious to those that study history or have served in the military.

Here’s are 2 quotes that I am specifically referring to:
“Joe Brignoli is right about one thing: bush and them never intend to leave Iraq. That country has not been liberated, it is being permanently occupied. Huge permanent bases are being built in Iraq… This is all part of the American Empire, intended to have troops, air bases and naval bases all over the world, forever, in furtherance of our imperial ambition. Or until the Empire collapses unpon itself in bankruptcy. Rome gave up democracy to keep its empire, while Great Britain gave up its empire to keep democracy. Which will it be for America, and which one do you think bush and them want?”

Next time you make a mortgage payment, drop your child off at school, put gas in your car, or take a paycheck, keep in mind that the lifestyles you live are because of the sacrifice of us who have volunteered for the military, and the policies that support them. Your freedoms are NOT guaranteed, or protected by 2 oceans anymore… some say they never were. There is a fragile, delicate balance that must be continually fought for so YOU can have your ipods, the computers you are using now, and buy your kids Xbox 360. Unless you become Amish and live back in the 19th Century, you are using the fruits that we who have served provided. This is exactly why there is such a severe disconnect between most of you and the 79% of the military that voted for Bush. The ONLY reason that World Wars 3-5 have broken out is because of our continued strategic military presence around the globe. I can’t prove that, because it is speculation on events that have already occurred, but history will tell us that “when the cat’s away, the mice will play.” Until the whole world is a democracy, dictators and tyrants will continue to exist, and WE are the only shining light in the world that keeps them from invading and enslaving their neighbors. I truly believe that if WE were to have never taken an isolationist stance, WWII would have never occurred, saving 50 million lives. Finally, WE ARE NOT AN EMPIRE, FOR GOD’S SAKE. We have the POWER to steal a country’s riches and enslave it’s people. BUT we do not. If we did that, then yes, we would be an empire and I would be the first to lead the charge against it. Our strategic military bases are a result of the treaties we signed with the countries that provide them! From Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean to Panama, to Camp Anaconda in Iraq, we are there by invitation. They are of strategic importance, and are all mutually beneficial for the countries that host them.

The above quote from the liberal was OPINION, and can be argued on both sides. The following quote is pure lies, and I can’t believe that people don’t do the research on this malarkey. I’m dumbfounded that anyone could continue to quote facts that are so untrue… This is not the information age, it’s the DIS-information age.

HERE IS THE EXAMPLE I AM REFERRING TO:
“You Bush lovers are absolute hypocrites if you dare tell me or anyone else on this board that if Clinton had done exactly the same thing you would not be calling for his impeachment and trial and worse!”

I cannot understand why people don’t know this. CLINTON DID DO THE SAME THING, AND REPUBLICANS SUPPORTED HIM!!!!!!!!!! Operation Desert Fox just 3 years before 9/11! I fully supported the decision Clinton made to attack Iraq for WMDs, and so did the republican leadership (according to your beloved NY times!). The only thing I found a little fishy, is that he waited until the eve of his impeachment, and he didn't follow through with an ALL OUT attack. (Another Bin Laden prediction...) But WE were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though all his previous policies up until them were anything but "hawkish."

As Hitler put it, "Tell a lie enough times and people will believe it." Here's more of the disinformation that I want to disprove.

A liberal above said:
1. "George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are guilty of violating the public trust. They have directly or indirectly: 1. Lied to Congress, the British Prime Minister and the American People regarding the reasons and evidence for invading Iraq."

MY REPLY: My previous post, including the transcript from Bill Clinton's speech from 1998, after he attacked Iraq for WMDs disproves that. (Unless the "monitors" of the room decided not to include that information!)Google "democrat quotes WMD" and you'll find hundreds more, including audio and video. But every time I disprove a liberal conspiracy theory, they do not acknowledge it and nonchalantly move on to the next set of false information. A week later, they restate the original, DIS-PROVEN theory, as if our original conversation never took place. Conservatives DO NOT DO THAT. Show me one shred of evidence that Bush lied about WMDs, and the Dems didn't, and I'll lead the charge for impeachment. Anyone can make up the same propaganda, but conservatives don't stoop to your level. On a conservative blog the other day, someone mentioned that when Nancy Pelosi went to Syria to meet with Bashar Assad, she discussed plans to announce the war being lost and will forward a timetable for withdrawal. I also saw a post saying that Barak Hussein(his real middle name)Obama was really a sleeper cell agent for Al Qaeda. EVERYONE in the room attacked the person making those statements. See, you people lie without remorse. I don't know why, but you do. You rationalize it by thinking that conservatives are doing the same thing, and WE'RE NOT. I'm talking directly to the liberals in this room, because moderates would not come here.

2. Quote from same liberal above:
"Why is the military Republican centered. Hint, they are the ones that notoriously send them to combat and make claims like "we will pay you more." If you are a solider, you are obligated by the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) to support the decisions of your superior officers... This is fed to you by your Chain of Command and you are told to never make it seem like you are against the current initiatives. Believe me, the troops would be absolutely excited if they learned that they were being pulled out of this situation."

MY REPLY: It is obvious that you have never served in the military. WE WERE PATRIOTIC, GOD-LOVING CONSERVATIVE BEFORE WE ENLISTED! It is hard for me to explain this to those who have never served (like the author of the post I am referring to), because you would NEVER understand unless you volunteered. When I was discussing re-enlisting, a liberal once asked me, "why would you want to die for a country like this?" I chuckled, and choose not to engage because I could never make him understand. He was so enraged, that he began to cry. A typical example of a liberal making decisions based on emotion rather than logic.

You see, people who volunteer in a time of war are different from most of the people in this room. Some call us war mongers, others spit on us. But there's a reason why only 13% of the military thinks we should have no troops in Iraq. I am sure you look at what is going on in Iraq, and you think, "Why would anyone WANT to be over there?" We were called upon to serve, and we answered the call. And you will never, ever understand us unless you do the same.

If there is a draft, and I think there will have to be if liberals get their way in Iraq, I suspect half the people in this room would flee to Canada. THIS is why you will never understand why we do what we do. All I can say is, "You're Welcome."
