It is time for the old school, so-to-speak, to move over because the demographics and the world views are changing. And make no mistake about it. White House staffers serve at the pleasure of the president... but they work for the chief of staff.

At least they do in a well functioning White House. In lesser White House staffs, opposing power cliques develop. A strong chief of staff has to prevent that.
