SERIOUSLY!

Nor did she know what countries were in NAFTA!

And the worst part - McCain became aware of her unbelievable ignorance of the issues; he KNEW that she was not prepared to be President... and yet he didn't replace her! He LIED to every single American, and put the entire country at risk JUST TO WIN AN ELECTION. So, to all you McCain supporters - now do you understand why we kept calling his claims of "country first" complete bullshit? Now do you understand that you were WRONG about Palin being qualified? Now do you see how absolutely horrible McCain's judgment was, and that that type of judgment is not what we need in a president? Do you now understand this?

First thoughts: The transition game

Hold the phones, fellow bloggers, MO is now in legal rangling due to voter suppression. More news later,...

First thoughts: The transition game

Sudden thoughts and second thoughts

I am serious when I suggest Tiger Woods allowed America’s psyche to finally accept an African-American to run for president. He broke down the last barriers for the majority of America. Before Tiger, there of course was Ali and Jordan in sports, Bill Cosby as America’s Dad in TV, and the list goes on. It took a lot of media exposure, on a near constant basis, for America’s subconscious to not even notice (other than the constant reminders in MSM). His face; his smile; his eyes; his demeanor, all were in our face for 21 months straight. Seriously, does anyone notice Tiger or Barack’s skin color anymore? We passed that tipping point so long ago!!!

I have what others said they would have… election hangover. No what do we do?

I liked what I read from Gov. Counties with universities went for Obama, IU, ISU, Purdue, Notre Dame. They all came through as I thought they would. The Obama ground game was awesome, high tech all the way. Rural Indiana had never seen that kind of high tech in an election before.

I have really enjoyed the comments from all the regulars. You know who your are and I won't mention anyone for fear of forgetting someone. Your comments helped as we went through the last 22 months.

With my wierd sense of humor, it will be fun to watch the GOP (which is no longer the grand old party) self destruct. Sarah will be in the middle of it and news will come out about how DUMB she really is. As I've commented before, the Pat Buchanan/Rush Limbaugh wing nuts will support Sarah. The intellictual conservatives will throw her under the bus. What I'm looking for is the power struggle between the conservatives and the moderates. The conservatives are more ruthless and will likely gain control. If Romney gains control, then the moderates may have a change. It will be fun to watch.

There are big, big issues that need to be addressed, but I was troubled to see the long lines on election day and the voting machines that had no back-up. We are not a third world nation and surely we can simplify the voting process. We really need to.

If anyone know, pass it on... Although things moved along very well I was able to help a few people gather the proper information they needed and got a few more votes through. The line was long and I got to talking with a 74 year old African American woman. She had been standing in the rain for over an hour so I went to get her some hot tea and shared my umbrella with her while she drank it. As I was heading home to watch the results come in I saw her standing at the bus stop. I pulled over and offered her a ride home. As we drove she spoke to me about how important this election is to her. She told me stories of what she went through in the 50’s and 60’s and how at 74 she never would of thought in her wildest dreams that she would live to see the day that there was even a slight chance of an African American president of the U.S. It hit me then that I myself have not looked at Obama in that light. I have been working and fighting and struggling for Obama for 2 years straight because I believed in his policy and his message of unity and a change from the ground up. Rarely did I even think about the racial implications of this historic election. I explained that to her and her eyes started to well up with tears. She told me that what I had just said to her made this moment in time twice as wonderful for her and I told her that what she told me had exactly the same impact on me. I drove her to her apartment and helped her to the door. She grabbed my cheeks and told me that the work I have done will be a part of American history and to never give up fighting for what I believe in. I gave her a big hug and said goodbye.

For my two year struggle to end in that moment with that wonderful woman was just about the most perfect conclusion to round 1 of my work that there could ever be.

I have so much enjoyed the conversation here. McCain, had he been forward thinking enough during the months after he locked down the Repub nomination, would have been thinking about and vetting his VP candidates. He has non one to blame except himself.

It doesn't take a maverick to simply do what is logical and prudent for your own campaign's viability. Bill Clinton further increased the federal money available for these “sub-prime” mortgages and also lowered the standards for obtaining these mortgages. Coincidently, Clinton’s point man on this was Franklin Delano Raines (let’s make him famous), Director of Office of Management & Budget, who left Fannie Mae to serve in Clinton’s administration and returned to Fannie Mae as its CEO in Clinton’s last year in office. (Remember the name, Franklin Delano Raines, in case Obama tries to slip him into a financial position.)
4.)	In 2003 when George W. Bush was president new regulators found that Fannie & Freddie executives overstated their profits by nearly $11 billion to pump up their bonuses. Bush proposed sweeping regulatory changes; the Senate Democrats killed Bush’s reform plan. In fact, Rep. Barney Frank, (D-MA) House Financial Services Committee Chairman, emphatically stated that Fannie & Freddie were not “facing a any kind of financial crisis.” (Let’s make him famous, too),
5.)	Senator John McCain, in 2005, sponsored a Fannie & Freddie reform bill. At the time, McCain predicted that if “Congress doe not act --- the housing market and overall economy” is in peril. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, said McCain was just trying to impede the Fannie & Freddie mission. McCain’s bill was defeated.
6.)	2008 --- John McCain’s concern and predictions came true. The housing market collapsed and the economy went into a downward spiral.
7.)	There appears to be a definitive history of Democrats seeking to accomplish their social agenda and increasing their base through manipulation of our financial institutions.. .

THESE ARE THE FACTS …YOU DECIDE.
.............................................................
First thoughts: The transition game

We Hillary Supporters are watching. We canvased in WI and the organization was impressive to say the least, and not even really in a battle ground state. Showed up 7am and they had a fleet of mini-vans ready to go drop volunteers all over Milwaukee. We had most wards in Milwaukee covered by noon, and poll sitters at every polling location calling in real-time info on turnout, which determined where to send where to send follow-up canvasers throughout the day. Not to mention all through the weekend volunteers had hung door hangers with all the relevant voting info, including polling location customized per ward. Just an astondingly effective get out the vote effort all day long.

First thoughts: The transition game

FOX reported that Palin didn't know that Africa was a continent. She thought it was a country. Geez, and that was from FOX. 2012? I don't think so.

First thoughts: The transition game

I'm a liberal, and my hope is for 'centrist.' Ideally, it's the vast majority of Americans, with the liberals pushing and the conservatives with a hand on the brake. Most Americans want God in their lives, not their laws. Most Americans want sensible regulation. Most Americans are 'centrist.' We went too far one way. It is the responsibility of liberals, like me, to dampen the pendulum swing and give the majority of Americans a government that is responsive to the needs and desires of the people. Of course, I have a 'liberal agenda,' but I'm a 'real American.' I will bring that agenda to my fellow Americans and seek their consensus.

First thoughts: The transition game

Early analysis of North Carolina voting points to a majority who voted for Senator Obama and then voted the straight Democratic Ticket, not knowing the candidates or the issues. This resulted in the election of some very poor representatives.

First thoughts: The transition game

Sarah Palin does not have to call for a special election, she can appoint a new senator.

First thoughts: The transition game

With President Elect Obama in the process of selecting a viable Cabinet, I believe there are five (5) essential professional traits/skills that all individuals considered and eventually selected, must possess and demonstrate. My first statement is about why do the viewers have to keep hearing about how he is the first African American first off I don't go running around telling everyone that I am European American. I would also like to know if everyone realizes that his mother is white so I guess he would be african-European American I think that is even better and more news worthy. Would we be racist if we just talked about his white side?? if so why isn't it considered racist to be talking about his black side of the family all the time. The other statement I have is about the voting statistics that have come out, I don't have exact numbers but from what I have seen on your news show and others is that this has been a record setting voting year. I have seen the percentages of white and black voters and what I have seen is that the white voters the numbers have stayed the same in mostly all precincts but the black vote has gone up about an avg. of 6% pts. Now I ask you why? why is it so. Well lets talk about it, could it be because one of the nominees is black? It sure looks that to be true and why isn't that considered racist only coming out to vote because a candidate is black. Why aren't the percentages the same when there is 2 white nominees. I saw Oprah in an interview the other day and she was talking about how she had voted early and when she was in line she started a conversation with another woman who had just gotten out of rehab a week earlier. Oprah asked her " how long have you been sober and the woman replied " one week. Oprah then made a comment that " we will take the drug addicts vote" and she was saying it in a tone of voice of a stereotypical uneducated ghetto type of slang. What if a white person had said that kind of statement about drug addicts or used his or her tone in that manner you know yourself that it would be all over the news and he or she would have to beg for forgiveness. Just so you know I am an independent and typically vote democrat as I am for the values of that party such as working families and the small businessman and woman and for unions. I would like to ad something else to what Oprah had stated, she said that she had voted early because she wanted to be where the action was or the party was and didn't want to wait in line to vote. Isn't voting absentee supposed to be just that if you weren't going to be in town to vote at your polling location not because you didn't want to stand in line. She went to the polling location that day and said that she could have voted at her polling location because she wouldn't have been in line long. In Virginia as you may know you are asked to sign a statement in brief it basically says that you will be out of town and if your not and were able to vote that there would be I believe a 5000$ fine and maybe the possibility of some jail time. So why would she go on live tv making that statement. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and hope that you respond. I would like to say that I am not racist at all I am merely playing devils advoquate in this email to you. They allowed investment houses to act like banks and create new financial instruments without value. In addition, they SEC failed to monitor the investment banks and failed to require sufficient reserves to protect their positions. I won't go into the mechanics because it is very difficult to comprehend, let alone discussing derivatives and credit default swaps. Try to go back to various credible sources to understand all of this before spewing the McCain campaign rhetoric as this was so misleading and not factual.

First thoughts: The transition game

Well, you S.O.B.'s got what you cheer led for.
I hope you know that Blue Dogs, such as myself, are alienated, and disenfranchised.
It won't matter this year.
But I guaranty it will in 2010.
Hope you enjoy paying a $#!+load of taxes to support those who are too lazy to get jobs and support themselves.
J.
