The trend in Western Pennsylvania away from Democrats over the past 16 years continued, as Obama did better in every county in Pennsylvania except in the Southwest.

After PA went for Obama, I knew the rest of election night would be watching Ohio, Florida, et al follow suit. Once I saw that the 'red' parts of PA were breaking for Obama, I knew that it was pretty much over.

I'm proud of my state. :)

Barack Obama did a great job of picking a cracker jack campaign team. They did such a wonderful job of flipping counties that led to flipping states. He truly did change the electoral map so that the repugnant ones are the little minority they deserve to be.

Give him the needed time and space to tackle them. They will not be fixed in a day or even a year.

It took 8 years to get into most of this crap...

Why people in Michigaan keep voting for Democrats is a mystery. It's not like they couldn't expect their car manufactoring jobs to go overseas when they were getting the gold standard benefits being paid by the car companies. Full health care, full pensions after 20 years, high salaries. What did they expect would happen? Now the Democrats are going to buy Michigan voters votes again with another huge bailout of the failed auto makers, and at the same time raise taxes on the big corporations like Ford and GM.

In fact, McCain flipped three counties -- Beaver, Fayette and Washington -- that Kerry won in 2004. If I may offer a little constructive criticism of the McCain campaign, their problem is that they concentrated the bulk of their stops in the proverbial "T" area of the state (the "Alabama" portion between Philly and Pittsburg). While mostly Red territory, there simply aren't enough voters in this area to combat the heavily Democratic Philly/Suburbs area (frankly, there are more cows there than people). Just, something else for the GOP to think about for 2012. ALL PARTS OF AMERICA ARE "REAL AMERICA"!

A correction on Minnesota. Hennepin county contains Minneapolis, but St. Paul is in Ramsey county. Hennepin county contains most of CD 5 (Minneapolis and some inner ring suburbs, Keith Ellison's district) and CD 3 (suburban Hennepin county won by Republican Eric Paulson). It appears a significant percentage of people voted for Obama, and also voted for Republican Paulson.

St. Paul is in Ramsey county (Betty McCollum's CD 4).

Another county flip in the state of Ohio: Lake County, which borders the Democratic stronghold of Cuyahoga County, went for Bush in 04. This year Obama won it by the incredibly close margin of 345 votes out of a total of more than 111,000. So proud of my hometown and all the wonderful Lake County for Obama organizers.

The flipping of Jefferson County in WI was a real stunner. Prior to this election, there were only 3 presidential elections where a Democrat won:
1932,1936, and 1996.

Were you aware of the complete privatization of all things in Michigan done by Engler and his 12 years of letting the fat cats get fatter? Were you not also aware of the fact that as soon as we got Jennifer Granholm in as Governor -- the president of the United States realigned "manufacturing" and made it more appealing for the BIG 3 to go elsewhere for their needed products? Were you not also aware that when Engler left the Governor's mansion he went on to lead the Michigan Manufacturing Association? Yet - I am sure - it is all Granholm and the Dem's fault huh?

No one outside Virginia understands that.

And I mean no one, lol. I was once part of an emergency preparedness exercise in which a notional Cat 5 hurricane comes up the Chesapeake. The exercise designers didn't know the Hampton Roads cities weren't in any county, and they provided damage estimates by county only. We knew it was hosed up, as a 20-foot storm surge easily swamps VaB, Norfolk, etc. But when we asked about it, we were advised to only respond to the damage reports.

By the end of it, the FEMA guys who designed the exercise were a little embarrassed by it.

I did ground work in Colorado for Larimer county and Weld county-Just from the progress in these two areas I knew Obama was going to win Colorado. Obama had one of the most amazing campaigns in regards to ground work ever. I came in from Wyoming and others in my hometown of Laramie came and helped on week-ends. It was the determination of supporters who just went out there for Obama-

You missed the real shocker in Virginia: The Richmond metro area, which has been solidly Republican since going for Eisenhower in 1952, went to Obama by a 54-46 margin.
