Cheney needs to sit down now. Reading his speech seems as phony and disingenuous as I perceive him to be. Let no one forget that the man has made MILLIONS while over 4,000 US soldiers have lost their lives - all of it based on lies! Stringing him up by his nuts is too kind an act. I hope we find 'actionable intelligence' on his abuses of power and he rots in a dark hole in some third world country - denied of the freedom he so easily banters about. If it doesn't happen on earth - it will surely happen in his 'after life reality'. The only G-d he prays to has $ signs in his name.

Never in the military, but my Dad was a Navy man for 28 years, my father-in-law a Marine for 30, and my brother a Marine for 8. I have learned that these people and millions like them are the daily guardians of my freedoms. Without them, America dies.

I despise people who think that a pullout from Iraq would mean that those brave 4000 died in vain. I just despise them. NO SOLIDER DIES IN VAIN -- EVER!! They stand on that wall in peacetime and in war and keep the barbarians away from us.

It is time to bring these valiant people home from Iraq. They've done their duty. It's time for us to do ours and insist that they come home ASAP. 16 months?? How about 16 weeks?

And no, I don't give a darn if Iraq slides into a civil war or a sectarian war or who runs the darn place. It's their place, not ours. Our soldiers place is here at home wiht their family and friends. There better be a damn big parade for these wonderful folks when it is finally over!!

This morning early I put the homemade cards for my
88 year old dad on the table, I thought of all the men and women who has fought for our country over the years, tears when I think of the loss of my younger brother in Viet Nam. This is what Americans do.
I am not impressed with either President Bush or Dick
Cheney, I know if they really cared about our service men and women they would not have sent them to Iraq for oil and money in the form of no bid contracts.
So Thank you to all our service men and women everywhere. Be Safe and know you are the lifes blood of our great nation.

Cheney: Military service brings rewards as well. There is the pride of developing one’s character and becoming a leader, serving a cause far greater than any self interest and knowing that our nation’s cause is the hope of the world.

How would he know anything about military service? He never served. Too bad he didn't serve. Perhaps he would then understand what "having character" is all about. He would have been wise to actually take some of his own advice, since Cheney seems to feel his personal causes are more important than the causes of our country.

Thank you to all our veterans! On this day, Americans heard from Cheney and Bush. They used great words, but with no meaning for them at all. For Bush-Cheney, all they see is green for the mega profits that they have gained. The blood of our military citizens is on their hands, and they can never wash it off. The reckless use of our armed forces was a crime against humanity, and has left a generation of young people without their limbs. It is shocking to hear Bush-Cheney talk about honor, country, sacrifice, duty, and bravery. The only duty these two have shown is to "special interest" groups. The only country they believe in is one where the rich get richer, and poor become poorer. They view our military citizens "expendible" to their own economic greed. When our military citizens come home wounded. Bush-Cheney have only one message for them. They are on their own, and must become "do it yourselfers." Even if they have one limb or none, the Bush-Cheney message is a simple one. Greed is good, and how well our military citizens got it for them, is all that matters. Bush-Cheney please go home, because you have caused enough damage already! Time to move forward America!!

Happy Veteran’s Day. This is a day to offer our thanks to those who have put their lives on the line to fight for the many liberties that we citizens enjoy. The men and women from all the conflicts that have been fought over the last century or so have served with bravery and honor, and have done so by risking their lives. I imagine there are millions of veterans, having served the frequent conflicts of the 20thm and now the 21st century.

I suppose there might be some veterans left from World War I, but they would be quite old, I should think. Many more from World War II. Their sacrifice and bravery in large part is what made our country what it is today. We owe them our very existence, in some sense. We have also veterans from the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the invasion of Panama, Granada, Kosovo and no doubt other smaller skirmishes, some perhaps without names. And of course, our nation is churning out a great many more veterans as we fight two wars, in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Wouldn’t it be nice, though, if there was a passage of time where there were no new veterans. Where our nation, and those sharing the planet with us, opted to resolve our differences through negotiation, and we fought no wars for a generation or two or three. What if 100 years passed and we did not fight a war? Would there be any veterans left? Daresay their care at places like Walter Reed would have to improve quite a lot for any current veterans to live another 100 years.

I have nothing against veterans. Absolutely not. I would just like to see their numbers shrink, but instead, the veteran population is growing all the time. Alas, in the process, we are also increasing the numbers we must remember on Memorial Day. Sadly, we do not even have a special day for those that will spend the rest of their life in some sort of damaged state as a result of the wars we have fought. In some sense, those that left a part of themselves on the battlefield are the ones that truly need our help, our appreciation, and our admiration, perhaps more so than any group of veterans. They deserve a day to call their own. Those that have given a limb, or two, or have lost the use of their limbs, their eyes, their ears, or those who have suffered such anguish that their thoughts have turned against them. These folks need a day where we consider their sacrifice. Hero Appreciation Day. Victims of Foreign Wars. Can’t even think of a good name.

The United States military is the finest in the world. When motivated, and fighting a just war, we are pretty much undefeated. When, however, we fight wars that are the result of leaders who have misunderstood their responsibility, the results are a mixed bag. I am hopeful we can end, soon, the ongoing creation of new veterans, and that the future leaders of this country will understand, once and for all, that the enormous might of the United States military carries with it the enormous responsibility of using only when there is no other option. We have become cavalier in our decisions to go to war. Here’s hoping we can go 100 years before fighting, so that we can fully appreciate the veterans we already have, without adding to their numbers.

To those that have served, thank you. Help our leaders understand why your sacrifice should not be offered in haste.

The Flying squadron at Joint Forces AB, Balad IRAQ was named in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen at least 3 years ago.
How's that for recognition.
