I really don't like Joe AT ALL..but I do trust Obama's judgment. Better to have someone who votes with you 90 percent of the time...he (unfortunately) needs Lieberman's vote, so perhaps the olive branch strategy is best. We're so used to being reactionary and fighting...let's try it this way and see what happens. Reconciliation might reap more benefits than folks can see at first...but Obama is a long-range visionary. I'll reserve my feelings about Lieberman and trust Obama as to the best ways to move forward.

So will it be OK to Joe in 2012 when Democratic Senators "go with their conscience" and say horrible things about him when he's trying to get re-elected, and endorse Ned Lamont? This is a joke. It wasn't all about Obama (so the "if Obama says it's OK then we have to let him back in" mantra is bogus). Joe went off the reservation far before that, by consistently being a voice for "bipartisanship" -- allowing Fox News to call something bipartisanship just because one Dem was for it. Joe is about the spotlight and about compromising for compromising's sake, not about getting real things done. McCain is more about that than Joe -- think about it. They may like each other but I'd take McCain over Joe in a fox hole, in a minute. Joe would sell you down the river.

Shame on him and others, in politics and media, who spent a great deal of time lying or airing the lies, while proclaiming McCain as a good or honorable man. He was neither during this campaign and he should have been called on it. To apologize now, or say you have a few regrets, just doesn't cut it for me. That was pure politics at its slimiest. Lieberman should have been dumped for not showing an inch of loyalty or respect.

This year I canvassed for four different Democratic Senate candidates in four different states. My wife and I gave (significant, w do well) money to the DSCC, the DNC, seven Senate candidate and, of course, Obama.

I did all this because I thought I was a member of a party and that meant something. Apparently I was wrong. If Senator Lieberman and Senator Inouye can betray me and miilions of other Democrats in so consummate a manner and be rewarded for it by their colleagues, then I don't understand the values of those colleagues.

I will continue to vote for and support my local Democrats and Obama, but I cannot in good conscience give another hour or dollar to support the Democratic majority in the US Senate or maintain in 2010 and 2012. Maybe some years in the minority will teach them that it is not all about them and their friendships, but about the party's cause and constituency.

No, quite the opposite BJT. It was Republicans who were easily led by a man who "claimed" to be for "compassionate conservativism". We are now reaping the rewards of that "compassionate Conservativism", and quite frankly, there is nothing to show for it. Wages have stagnated, jobs lost or shipped overseas, banks tanking, and our entire country (not to mention the world) currently in a recession.
But I guess you're proud of voting into the office of Presidency, not once, but twice, a man who helped shape our current problems.
I'm not laying all the blame at Bush's feet. There are Democrats who have dropped the ball as well.
But to sit there and resort to "name calling" does NOTHING to improve America.

Maybe he was referring to his "compassionate conservativism".

My, my. Seems that this Obama-Cat is doing things his way. I love it. Have we all not seen enough of this good man Barack to know that everything he does has a purpose, even though it may be hidden from the rest of us? The only thing I wonder is what the quid pro quo is that Lieberman has to pony up. I predict this will pay dividends for President Obama and I further predict we'll never know what those dividens are!

If Lieberman were so consequential for McCain, why didn't McCain get much in the way of indepent or dem votes? Lieberman wasn't consequential as a VP candidate and he wasn't consequential as this year's pseudo-dem lap-dog for the Republican's. I can't even remember the name of the Dem that played that role in 2004.

It was a smart move by Obama - he continues to show class far above his various opponents.

Lieberman ran as an Independent in 2006. He still is a member of the Democratic party, but is not a "leader" within the party. He lost that when he decided to run as an Independent.

I have never forgiven Lieberman since he was the VP candidate and said that people who did not believe in God could not be moral. He was divisive then, is divisive now and will always be divisive. He is the opposite of everything that Obama and America stands for. He has said he does not believe in representative government and that he only has to follow his conscience instead of the wishes of his constituents -- translation, he is thinks we have an elected dictatorship or house of Lords. His war and homeland security policies are wrong and unconstitutional. Is there anything good you can say about him?
