Wow -- that's an interesting polling result. Seeing as how gun sales have dramatically increased since Obama won the election, I would have thought that the polling would have indicated the exact opposite.

Gun control. What a surprise that is coming up now. Under Obama, the people in Pennsylvania will lose both their coal mines, and now their guns, all in one years time. I guess they can stand on a street corner and mumble things as they beg for spare change.

After seeing an 8 year old boy shoot and kill his father I can only say the father got what he deserved for having a loaded gun in the house that the poor little bou could get ahold of. I'm for gun control because there are too many idiots out there who are not responsible enough to own guns. I think that there needs to be an age limit for gun ownership as too many children have these worthless things. Too many kids who are not mature enough to understand responsible gun ownership think they can solve their problems with guns rather than fists like when I was young.

I live in a city where gun control should be mandatory considering all the shootings here. Just last week a young teen was killed in a park just a few doors down from my house because guns are just too easy to get ahold of. Only cowards need guns and only cowards use guns to solve problems. I have no problem with responsible hunters owning guns for legitimate hunting where they eat what they shoot.

Only a lazy coward would shoot animals from a helicopter. Too abd that we can't arm the animals with stinger surface to air missiles to shoot down the cowardly helicopter hunters!

I have allways had a gun, my dad taught us all to use a gun as children, I have a hand gun, I have a rifle and a shot gun. My right. On Holloween this year in our town, a man mowed down a 12 year old treat or treater with a assult weapon, and shot his dad also. What in the hell is wrong with common sense gun control.

I disagree. I think that the founding fathers wanted us to own guns as a detriment to the Gov't becoming a dictatorship.

To that end, the average civilian should be allowed therefore to purchase, own and practice with hand guns, rifles, assault rifles, Machine guns, hand grenades, land mines, APC's, Bradly Fighting Vehicles, Abrams Battle Tanks, fighter and bomber aircraift to include the Aurora, B2's and stealth aircraft, destroyers, aircraft carriers, cruise missles and nu-kee-lear weapons of all types.

All of this just in case the Gov't goes rogue on us as civilians...And for deer hunting.

The right to keep and bear arms is like freedom of speech. Because it is a right guarnteed by the Constitution does not mean that it is without limitations. The constitution does not protect speech which incites violence or is calculated to cause serious injury or loss of life. One has no right to yell "fire" without cause in a crowded theatre. Neither does the constitution protect the right to bear arms, when the circumstances, including the type of firearm, present an unreasonable risk of violence, serious injury, or death. One is not allowed to carry a handgun on his person without a license, and then the gun must be concealed.

The National Rifle Association notwithstanding, we as Americans need to rethink the the ownership, possession, and use of firearms in urban areas, particularly in high crime areas, and come up with reasonable measures to reduce violence on our streets.

I don't care how many guns, assault rifles, handgernades, etc., a person owns. If I were a member of congress and wanted to make a name for myself I would strongly encourage a law that allows a person to have as many weapons as he/she can afford! Here is the only requirement they would have to abide by: Everytime the weapon owner leaves home he/she would have to carry every weapon they own with them! You go to the store, you take all your weapons with you! You go to the dentist, you carry all of your weapons with you. You go to work, you take every weapon with you. How long do you think it would take for those gun nuts to realize they only need one small weapon at a time? Cowboys carried all their weapons either in a holster or attached to the saddle of their horse. While the congressman is at it, he/she might tell the Big Three automakers to start raising horses instead of building cars!

I am as liberal as they come, but I believe in gun ownership. Almost my entire family votes Republican even though they are Dems based upon this one issue. The NRA has frightened them into doing so. One of the reason Obama won is because Gun control was not and is not on his agenda. He wants to focus on the core issues that most Americans agree with. If the left wig of the party doesn't watch it, they will make Dems very unpopular with this. It is a losing issue and I believe this poll is way off base.

Look, the background check recently upgraded last year has already gotten out of control. My husband who just 2 years ago could buy a hand gun now wasn't approved for a hunting rifle, because they want him to go through a challenge process and submit his discharge papers fromt he Army. He has a less than honorable discharge because he needed to be released a month short of his 2nd full contract for a family matter. Doesn't it seem intrusive that they want this man to go in front of strangers and talk about this situation. After all, he was the one defending these people in battle overseas.

I could agree to the waiting period as a reasonable safeguard, but I don't believe in the assault weapon ban or inner city gun bans. Assault weapons are necessary to keep within the spirit of the country being able to raise a militia (that could compete with a military coup). And inner city violence comes from illegally obtained guns. Homeowners in those areas need to have the option of legally protecting themselves from criminals.

I am liberal PA Voter who was most decidedly for Obama who hopes he won't cave into the gun banners. That is not an agenda that the majority of Americans support.
