Napolitano is a good pick. She brings border-state experience and I feel that immigration has long-been overlooked on the Homeland Security docket.

If this is true - Napolitano will be excellent at Homeland Security. She's smart, she's legally brilliant and she has great common sense and a drive to make this work. As a border governor, not only has she rode rough-shod over a gun-totin' wild western state - she is compassionate and knows what is important - kids first, and people. She will do an excellent job - proven by having been elected twice, a Democrat in a red state, now purple. Only downside is that we will lose her as one of the best governors this state has had.

Obama made another solid pick to fill DHS. Napolitano has a good record on immigration issues, and has improved the border situation in her state. Obama will need her experience, and knowledge on security issues concerning our nation. That is fact!

Good for Gov. Napolitano- she's a smart, talented individual who is actually a credit to female governors- unlike someone else we know. The only negative is that John McCain has no obstacle to a 2010 re-election.

Oh, well, I'll just have to take comfort in the fact that Gov. Napolitano will (hopefully) be kicking Joe Lieberman around on Homeland Security issues. A lot.

I am sure Sheriff. "Joe A" has a great record on the ground in law enforcement. Politically, on the national level?? My bet is that he does not have one to speak of. For political positions in Washington. An individual needs to think of the whole nation, and not just one state. That is fact!

My head is spinning. Qualified people filling top positions? Whatever happened to putting the likes of Michael Brown, former horse show organizer, in charge of FEMA? Gonzalez, the President's personal lawyer, as Attoney General? Not to mention all those fourth tier law school graduates stocking the Justice Department. I suppose Obama is going to replace them with graduates from top law schools. My God, good sense is breaking out all over!

Perhaps one of the biggest concerns about Hillary becoming Sec of State is that the people she surrounds herself with are not very good with leaks. The last thing we need is for the world to know everything that goes on with the Sec of State because her people can't keep their traps shut!

Fact (or should I say lack thereof), why would you NOT want a governor of a border state to head up Homeland Security. A Governor of a border state has a much better understanding of illegal immigration issues (which tie into Homeland Security issues) because they deal with it daily.
Who would you want to head up Homeland Security, the Governor of Utah, South Dakota, or West Virginia? I bet your pick would be Sarah Palin (sorry to bring that name up again).
You don't list your name. You don't list your city or state. For all we know, you could live in Alaska, the capital of illegal Canadian immigration, where hundreds of thousands of Canadians cross the border into Alaska a year (yes, I'm being sarcastic).
California, Texas, and New Mexico also have border issues. Florida deals with them coming on their shores. Illegals will cross our borders no matter who is governor of any of those states (and others).
By the way, who is "JOE A"? Since you don't have the decency to list his entire name, we have no way of verifying your claim (how convenient for your argument). Local sheriff could mean he's the local sheriff of a Phoenix suburb or nearby city.
If you're going to complain, at least give us facts we can research. This blogger is the 3rd one today who made general comments without facts to back up their statement, and the 20th or so from naysayers of Obama who do not have the courage to list their name or the city and state you are from (which is what this website asks you to do). You are nothing but a coward and will continue to be a coward until you can say "my name is Joe, Sue (or whatever your name is), from whatever city in whatever state, and I am the one proud to say I post by the pen name FACT".

she also has emergency management experience in addition to the other skills that have been pointed out. that would allow an excellent workmanship understanding of what the incoming fema director must deal with.

this also adds diversity to mr. obama's cabinet as he promised. electorate representation with qualified selections is wise and is needed.

to the immigration issue. just applying law enforcement is not enough in itself. also, illegal immigration is hard to stop without federal leadership and funding.

sheriff joe made good strides, but he also practiced some skeptical actions that one must ask were they fair and humane.

we must secure our borders for security reasons, but us being a nation of immigrants must find a way to allow those who are here to become citizens. imagine what that taxable income would do for the states within the country and the federal budget (hello). think of the amount of income that is not taxed that would help against the deficit and help with services needed by the american people.

we also don't want to break up families. despite what some want to believe all latino immigrants aren't bad people. they want a better life for their family and themself. that is what makes america great.

we will never be able to send 12 milion people out of the country. secondly, we couldn't afford it. thirdly, these are good people that want a chance at what we have already. a better life.

let's find a path fot citizenship for them. bring them out of the shadows so they can be a part of the american citizenry without hiding.

the only non-immigrant is the american indian. we must remember that. our ancestors were allowed to come here to start a better life. that is why we are now here.

let us not discriminate against a people who want to work and make a life that is better than poverty.

every white person is not a criminal. every black person is not a criminal. every american indian is not a criminal. every asian is not a criminal. every latino/hispanic is not a criminal.

letus stop finding those reasons that holds america back and stop us from being great.

Exactly. The Clinton camp is leaking this because the Clintons are self-aggrandizing and self-righteous. Richardson would be a much better Sec of State, FAR less drama.

Anybody who doesn't see that the Clintons will be in the way and always fighting about how the president wants things done hasn't been paying attention.

A little true humility on the part of the Clintons would go a long way.
