Did I read this correctly? Opponents of Dawson think opposing segregation is a bad thing and they better represent the future of the Republican party? Sounds like the Republican party is like the economy -- it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

If S.C. Rnc chairman is what you republicans want, you can expect to continue to go down in flames. That is no change for yall at all. Here in S.C. the GOP remains a sad excuse for a political party, much more concerned about the Bible and legislating morality. They do have our S.C. house and senate wall to wall repubs. Look at how we fare in education, human services, look at our economy. Yeh!!! the good ole boys at thier finest, only the rich survive here in S.C. So if you want more of the same, you can get it from a RNC chairman from S.C. Very seriously I am hoping that the uneducated here in this state will finally realize that they are not republicans, that they are very poor people being used by the greedy and corrupt republicans that profess to be christians.

Dawson written letter to club leaders Aug. 20th should have urged not just inclusion of people of color; but inure best interests of today’s injecting some of today's rhetoric. Instead of giving more diversionary tactics of religion, sex, education, energy, and concern for the average Joe and Jane, try those sensibly.

While I can only hope his intentions were genuine (yeah, right), I'm guessing that this is merely a calculation on his part as he knew this would be an issue in his intended run for the RNC chair. What would be interesting is that if he does not get to chair the RNC, would his convictions be the same.

Not knowing anything about Mr. Dawson other than that he wrote a letter encouraging racial progress in his country club, but joining the club in the first place is questionable to me.
My daughter refused to go with a friend's family to a country club because the parents said her black friend couldn't come along. She was a sophomore in high school at the time, and made quite an impression on that family.
Each of us must make a stand ... somewhere.
