After watching a few clips of the meeting, I was most impressed with Obama reaching out to ALL of the Governers. However, not to put a damper on things, but in the press conference afterwards, Sanford, who said we ought to count on entreprenuership etc.etc., and Palin who spoke in a foreign language (her own) are still stuck in the past. We are in a massive mess, we need a massive push in a new direction. Obama was presidential, Palin was low rent - could not even call PE Obama by that title, she stumbled and continued to call him Senator. Regarding Joe Biden she referred to him 'I tried to convince America that Governers were the best for the job, but her I am and VPE Biden is over there'. She is so disrespectful, and has no clue. Imagine her meeting powerful foreign dignitaries and leaders? I don't think she will even be a governer after this term. People have her number.

This is a new world and they are still stuck in the old one. WAKE UP!! Then again, I supported Obama/Biden and am so proud of the way things are being handled. So let them keep it up - their days are so numbered.

obama/biden is what we need in these difficult times ahead. these guys are going to represent the country as a whole. not just dem's and liberals.

if some would not hate the man because of his party, his name, where he is from (chicago), his bi-racial background and give him a chance to at least begin to serve they may see a difference in the direction this country will be headed.

Just a simple thought: it is an enigma to me that the people in Alaska never comment when their governor leaves and stays away for long periods of time. When our governor jumps on a plane it makes headlines and the rightwing nuts question the costs of his departure and how much the taxpayers are going to have to cough up to cover his time away. Is it they are glad that she is gone and notice how much gets done there without her, or, is it because when she is there no one notices her return? Does Alaska need a "governor"?

Thanks Mark. Excellent reporting. Interesting isn't it - it's not just Obama supporters who see perhaps "change" in governance, in tone, in exchange of ideas with the incoming Administration.

We do not hero worship Obama the way the Ronald Reagan supporters worshipped him. And still do. We just want change and Barack Obama we believe offers that to all of us.

I personally do not want to see republicans left behind if they have concrete ideas that will benefit everyone.

There appears to be a segment of our population out there - mostly males in their late 30's/early 40's who are still very naive about Ronald Reagan. They believed all the rhetoric about him. What they basically bought into was an image. A false image. Democrats, they believe, are evil. It's what they were taught by the right wing media and even a majority of the mainstream media.

If we can open their eyes, all the better going forward. There's no reason why we can't all work together to fix what ails us in this country.

That's the change we've been looking for - for a very very long time.

He mentioned that when he was campaigning across states- the local official accompanying him would often point to something and tell him "This used to be..." His point was that it's time for these areas to "be something" once again.

We have to look at "the big picture." The days of tunnel vision are over. Our nation better wake up and smell the coffee. With all our bail outs along with the 168 billion economic stimulus package, that btw did nothing for our economy it is hard to understand why our government can't see the need to bail us out of our dependence on foreign oil. The high cost of fuel this past year seriously damaged our economy and society. Why don't we invest in America's Energy Independence. It would cost the equivalent of 60 cents per gallon to charge and drive an electric car. The electricity to charge the car can conceivably come from wind or solar . We need to get on about the business of harnessing these sources of energy. Create clean cheap energy, badly needed new green collar jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. What more of a win-win situation could there be? Instead of spending billions upon billions on bailouts, why don't we instead invest in renewable energy. We have GUARANTEED returns if we do this. I just read a fascinating book by Jeff Wilson called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence NOW .This book Is the big picture.
