The Washington Post reports on the Obama Administration’s attempts to use some of their political tools to help push key agenda items, including health care. "Former senator Thomas A. Daschle, Obama's point person on health care, launched an effort

Agenda: Grassroots army, charge!

Typical that Greedy Gates would cry for more deficit spending by the government. Why doesn't this total taxpaying deadbeat pay more taxes since he's got so much money from ripping us consumers off?

I'm hoping that Tom Daschle is far more successful than Hillary was long ago in bringing about universal health care. The repugnant ones whine about corporations having the legacy cost of health care yet don't want to get our decrepit failing medical industry socialized like every other developed country. We're #38 in life expectancy because our stinking medical system is more interested in boob jobs, tummy tucks and face lifts because they pay more than doing real medical help that real people need.

Agenda: Grassroots army, charge!

The Bush Legacy Project – Well, okay.

Hey Karl Rove, Karen Hughes, GWB - you can't spin legacy. And since you people evidently don't read – allow me to introduce you to Al Smith.

As Rachel Maddow speaks about Hurricanes Katrina & Ike and the absolute lack of government assistance, which in essence adds up to only one thing -neglect - I think about a former Governor of New York, Al Smith, an extremely interesting and impressive man. He had witnessed in his time before he became the governor, a tragedy of enormous proportions-The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire which took place in NYC on March 25, 1911 not far from Washington Square. This fire caused the death of 146 immigrant garment workers who either died from the fire or jumped to their deaths, due to poor working conditions with fire hazards everywhere. It was the worst workplace disaster in New York City until September 11, 2001. The fire led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards. It was Al Smith, together with Robert Wagner, who worked together to champion safe working conditions.

From Empire Statesman, The Rise and Redemption of Al Smith by Robert A. Slayton:
"Their work (Smith & Wagner) literally changed the way we live to this day.
- Walk into any restaurant, movie theater, school or office and their work is everywhere. Today's doors must egress to the outside, with a panic bar; all doors and windows leading to fire escapes must be marked with crimson paint; a red light shall be placed over all such exits. Fire drills were mandated for the first time. Sprinklers became mandatory in factories.
Al Smith became part of the Progressive movement, that controversial collection of reformers who sought to tame the excesses of society by using scientific investigations to provide answers, then enacting new and powerful regulations."
________________________
So when I think of legacy I think of Al Smith. He understood what the government was all about, especially during a time of unspeakable tragedy. The only time government really matters and something Bush & his crew never quite grasped. So brag and lie and cover up to your hearts' desire, Bush & Co. Only it's not going to work. We have the photo's.

Karen Hughes. Now there's a name I hope I never see again. Clueless. Here we are on the brink of a depression, and they're seeking legacy. Evidently they don't have one. So I guess now they're on a mission to go and find one. Fox Propaganda, Limbaugh and the usual suspects will assist them. And I'm sure it will be a slam dunk. Just like the WMDs.

When it comes to the Republican Party, no lie is too big for the right wing media to spin out of control. Won't be the first time. Nor the last. But -

Facts are facts:
Al Smith = legislation as the result of a disaster.
George W. Bush = disaster period.
End of story.

Footnote: Al Smith used to look out his window as a child on Oliver Street on the Lower East Side, watching the Brooklyn Bridge being built. Years later, he became president of the Empire State, Inc. and was instrumental in getting the Empire State Building built during the Great Depression. I believe the Empire State Building took just a year to build. Katrina? Ike? Hmmm. Just don’t make them like they used to. Politicians, that is.
Agenda: Grassroots army, charge!

THIS IS WHY CROOKED CHARLIE RANGEL WANTS TO REINSTITUTE THE "DRAFT."
WITHOUT A DRAFT --- IT WILL BE A TRUE TEST OF NO OBAMA'S GRASSROOTS SUPPORT. (WAS HE ELECTED ONLY BECAUSE THE VOTERS WANTED NEW FACES IN THE CAPITAL???)

Agenda: Grassroots army, charge!

How many Erics in Ca are there?
