I love how many people say "more of the same" when the same people run over and over, yet when someone new tries to enter the picture, all we hear is "no experience". Did Hillary have experience when she ran for the Senate? Did Fred Thompson? Did Arnold have experience before running for Governor? She is well educated and has the desire. Well, this would probably raise a few eyebrows.

Some top retired military leaders and some Democrats in Congress are backing William White, chief operating officer of the Intrepid Museum Foundation, to be the next secretary of the Navy -- a move that would put the first openly gay person at the top of one of the services.

The secretary's job is a civilian position, so it would not run afoul of the ban on gays serving in the military, but it would renew focus on the "don't ask, don't tell" policy as President-elect Barack Obama prepares to take office.

"He would be phenomenal," said retired Gen. Hugh Shelton, who was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1997 to 2001, pointing to Mr. White's extensive background as a fundraiser for veterans' and military causes.

Retired members of the Joint Chiefs have contacted Mr. Obama's transition team to urge them to pick Mr. White, and members of Congress said he would be a good choice for a service secretary. [...]

Gen. Shelton called Mr. White's work at both the Intrepid Museum and the Fisher House Foundation "legendary."

"He has always been a staunch advocate of our men and women in uniform," Gen. Shelton said.

The Fisher House Foundation, which White has devoted considerable time to, offers a place to stay so families can be close to military members who are receiving medical care.

Having an openly gay person serve as the Secretary of the Navy would almost certainly drive conservative Republicans in Congress to apoplexy, and White's lack of military experience -- service is not an option given his sexual orientation -- would no doubt raise questions.

But retired Gen. Hugh Shelton knows a little something about qualifications in this area, and if he thinks White would be "phenomenal," that would carry quite a bit of weight, on the Hill and at the Pentagon....'

Curtis T Long Island. Granted I'm not a native New Yorker, despite that fact. Who the next Senator from NY affects all Americans. Senators make much more decisions that affect all of America than they do just their own state. And besides the fact the Caroline Kennedy is just as qualified for the position as anyone else they are talking about, you stumbled upon the most important issue. Election and yes electability. That is what makes Kennedy the perfect choice. Whomever is appointed needs to run in a special election in 2 years and then reelection 2 years after that. Despite many other public servants who have been languishing in lower offices, biding their time, she is the one who can afford these costly elections. New Yorkers will get their say in 2 years whomever is appointed and I care because I don't want to see the Dems lose that seat to some wealthy Republican. Not only will Caroline carry more status to get things done on behalf of your state than anyone else who could be chosen, her financial connections mean she can attend to the peoples' business over the next 2 years instead of being consumed spending the next 4 years fundraising. And frankly Caronline Kennedy is the best kind of representation we could hope for. She is running for power or clout, she already has those things. Her last name and wealth make her exempt to the influence of monied interests. She actually wants to serve the nation (not herself). SO maybe everyone could cut her some slack for being who she is. Privileged, yes. But she didn't choose to be a Kennedy, what is important is what she has chosen and is choosing to do with it. She has been helping people. Her name is what it is because her family and herself has bourn a great sacrifice to this nation, the loss of their loved ones.

People seem to assume that Foreign entities do not have large undocumented pools of cash available to them that they may do with as they please. If there was a desire to make a bribe to Bill Clinton it would be achieved with no record at all.

This insane drive of some to try and connect donations made to Clinton's charitable foundations to his personal wealth says more about the obsessive nature of Clinton's critics than it does about Clinton himself.

So, the Clinton's have ties to countries that have a vested interest in how the US leans in their social-economic policies. Will he show he's the liar that the Conservative Right thinks he is and keep her or will he be the man everyone who voted for him and expects him to be, and man-up, show his strength as a leader and tell her to decline?
