Mr. Burris seems to be well educated, as a lawyer, and
he has held the Attorney General's seat in Illinois.
No comments about Mr. Burris were made by the Governor
in relation to any favors he expected in return. So, while the FBI tapes do not involve Mr. Burris in any way, the refusal to seat him is not the right of the Senate. The case brought to the Supreme Court by a well known U.S. Congressman confirmed that position.
Why not just allow him to fill the Senate seat ?He may not be the choice President elect Obama wanted but
the new President has many, many more demanding issues
to deal with as he takes over the Presidency. President elect Obama is great and I hope this Illinois issue can now be resolved. Mr Burris is 71 years old and probably has a lot of professional and personal experience that he can bring to the position. I do not know if he is a Democrat or Republican. I just state that ,legally, this is a correct choice.

I don't care that this is a Democrat. I'm finding it very hard to buy this one. Burris openly supported impeachment proceedings against Blago, and on Maddow said he supported the actions of the IL attorney general in moving to oust Blago from his seat. Now all of a sudden he is happily willing to accept an appointment that is so mired in controversy as to be ineffectual. An appointment that would do little more than sully his own reputation. I cannot help but wonder what promises were made and what gifts were exchanged.

I think Burris is ok. The alternative is to have the legislature appoint someone since they won't run an election. Unfortunately the legislature is probably worse than Blagojevich, only they're not wiretapped. They would really sell the seat if they were given the chance.

Only if you live in downstate Illinois, like I do, can you understand the oppression of the Chicago Democrats. It's not just Bloga, it's the Chicago machine. Add that to the incompetence of the Republicans (who can't find a candidate of character in their ranks) and you can understand how disenfranchised all of us are who don't live in "Crook County." Don't flip us off, or laugh at us...pity us. Illinois is democracy at its worst. And oh by the way, our next President comes from the bedrock of Illinois politics. Hope that he is the "one honest man" in the state.

I watched Rachael Maddow interview Roland Burris late night on her show.

Damn good job Rachael!!!- It’s a breath of fresh air to see a smart intelligent commentator ask the very real and tough questions.

I was once again please to see you not only asked the tough questions but give the quest the time to answer them - that is so important.

I will keep an eye on you - you have a great talent.

Now - Roland Burris had some very good points as well - but I was confused as to why he would put himself in the spot light - the dark dim spot light.

Doesn't make sense that he would accept this position at this moment - no matter how legal it is,

it would still be legal once all of Blagojevich problems are solved or resolved, what the rush.

Why shouldnt he be defiant half those in Washington got there for similar reasons, and people love it...Seems that so many americans are gullable to well its not me but the other guy....Wake up and see some of those politicians still there for shady deals and other crimes....Halabertain, seems most of ous have put them aside and never got the outcome of there dealings and who was involved. Typical...Banks gettin big tax money while they pay less interest on our money and charge Americans outrageous fees.on the money they just loaned them..Yep Washington politics at its best...I think it would be nice to find out how much was contributed to politicians reelections or other functions who are getting this bailout money with no accountability...And it goes on been this way when my dad was alive and his dad...And it continues until American people take Washington back....To many find it easier to lay on the couch than pull the lever at the polls for change so i guess it will continue the same and my kids will be saying the same....oh well Happy New Year
