I'm reserving my judgment of Richardson until all of the facts are in. I think that he would have been good as Commerce Secretary.

How in the world can this happen? What kind of judgement can Obama have if he let Richardson slip through the cracks? It's not like the pay to play scheme of Richardson hasn't been known for quite some time, but yet Obama ignored it.

Obama is ignoring Hillary Clintons pay to play dealings too. Just how have the Clintons got to filthy rich since Bill left office 8 years ago? We know a lot of mid-east payoffs have been made to Clintons "library". Now Hillary is SoS and has to deal with these same Mid-East countries. That is a huge conflict of interest. Again, poor judgement by Obama to put ths country in such jeopardy.

Sad that Bill Richardson had to drop his nomination ir order to allow Obama's team to make progress. I bet that investigation ends up showing Bill did nothing wrong. So unlike the repugnant one who appointed any old criminal garbage into office the past 8 years. I'm sure Obama will find another good candidate for Commerce and hopefully fast.

Has any PE in history had this much corruption and scandals associated with him, his decisions and his associates. I can not remember this much scandal potential being present before the PE is sworn in. The Hillary sweetheart deal that has shown up also adds to the list. Some have already tried and convicted Gov. Richardson. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he is found not guilty of any wrong doing? Once again the nay sayers and dooms dayers would have egg on their faces.

It is good that Richardson took his name out of consideration so he can concentrate on getting the problem resolved and not hurt the Obama Administration. If not guilty, perhaps there will be an appointment at a later date. Eight years is a long time in politics and alot can happen. Someone could resign or asked to resign and Richardson put in their place. Most Administrations have resignations, deaths or otherwise vacancies at cabinet levels. If he is guilty than he needs to suffer the consequences of his actions.

We have to remember these people are politicians and they are doing what politicians do. Ours are mild compared to those politicians in other countries.

Since the spot light continues to be on Blagojevich, I think Richardson is bowing out hoping to avoid the same. Afterall, it's a pay-to-play scandal in New Mexico, too, isn't it? Time to clean up the mess and look forward to a new year with a new administration.

My concern is that this shows possible weakness in the Obama team's vetting process. What else would you ask about a Commerce Secretary nominee who's a sitting governor?

But anyone who thinks pay to play is not commonplace is only fooling themselves. Where have you been for the past 100 years, Sleeping Beauty? And do you think this is confined to democrats? What purpose do you think that corporate campaign contributions serve, anyway? Perhaps you'll all open your eyes and see that it's time for REAL campaign finance reform.

Richardson showed some class by bowing out. Blago and Burris should take a lesson from this. Rather than allow his personal issues to become a distraction, Richardson opted to move himself out of the spotlight to take care of his business. It's sad that more politicians can't show this much grace.

The fact that Richardson was being investigated is old news. The fact that he is resigning suggests Richardson has problems.

Obama is serious about having an admininstration without scandel. Better to clear the deck early than let it blow up later.

As a political junkie, I still kinda wonder about the Paul v Clinton fraud trial. I know public figures are targets for suits, but I thought this suit might have legs. It's more about Bill's actions than Hillary. I guess we will just wait and see. Bottom line is Obama is as serious as a heart attack that his administration be clean.
