Like Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, also under investigation for pay-to-play politics, Richardson wouldn't answer reporters' questions about the investigation. However, Richardson successfully resisted the temptation to quote Rudyard Kipling.

The ruling clears the way for the state Canvassing Board to certify results showing Franken the winner after the Supreme Court said the issue is best settled in a post-count lawsuit.

Coleman's attorneys have said they're likely to sue if he loses the recount, meaning it could be weeks more before the outcome is final...'

Richarson was not crazy about this appointment anyway. He was not that thrilled with becoming the Commerce Secretary. Richardson most likely stepped away himself as he has stated as his way of bowing out from a post he really didn't want. He also feels it is a good step (looking loyal to Obama by bowing out and allowing Obama to begin his administration cleanly). This will keep Richardson in Obama's good graces for a future more desirable post. The investigation into these State contracts will reveal nothing beyond what all Governor's do with their power.

Again, a gracious, classy withdrawal. Say whatever you want about his motives or reasons. The truth is that he's doing his best to stay out of the way of progress by not making himself a target for criticism. If only others in the political arena (Democrat or Republican) would agree to put "Country First" ahead of their own political ambitions.

How come nothing on today's Minnesota Supreme Court ruling against Norm Coleman (again). Norm wanted close to 400 rejected absentee ballots in heavily GOP districts, that were rejected (based on 1 of 4 statutory reasons) prior to the election, and were again found to be validly rejected during the recount looked at one more time.

We'll have to wait for Coleman to fight in Court, but it looks like Al Franken will soon be the Jr. Senator from Minnesota.

J. merle, I see your nasty post all the time. Now about Bill Richardson, I really think there is a problem, the look on his face when asked about this during a press conference was very telling. I allways liked the guy, but never really thought he was that smart. I trust Obama will do the best he can and I have faith he will find the right people to help him do just that. I think with all the crooks in and around Washington hes going to have a hard time finding all these honest people to do the peoples work.

in the end i think richardson will come out clean. if he thought he was dirty he wouldn't have taken the position in the first place. the timing of the investigation delays the nomination process. that would mess up mr. obama hitting the ground running. it is a shame the cabinet will lose a good man because of innuendo.

why do some hate obama/biden so much?

the two men haven't taken office and there are those that want them to fail badly. the irony is that if they do fail the country suffers even more. it seems to make more sense in hoping they succeed. just my opinion. it is what someone pointed out recently. unless the right/left, black/white, left coast/right coast and dem/gop nonsense stop we are going to be in a world of serious hurt. i guess some people wouldn't be happy unless they are angry, full of hate or tearing someone down. country first don't matter to people like these idiots.
