Then SF can be what it truly wants to be .... it's own little country running along the Pacific Coast with America bordering it on three sides. However, the Golden Gate Bridge would belong to the Headlands of Sausalito.

The government of SF has proven time and time again to be strongly anti-American. Give them their ultimate freedom, not allowing the U.S. government to have any say-so in their ultra liberal insanity.

Roland Burris is now one of the most recognizable Senators in the U.S. All this thanks to the nonsense which has occurred in the past few weeks. He is clearly a legally appointed Senator and should be seated immediately. To delay his appointment longer will just make him more famous and more likely to be re-elected in 2010. If Reid et. al. are concerned about who will be elected in the next election their worries will be eliminated if they don't get on with it.....

If Burris is not seated I think there should be major outrage anytime ANY Senator is seated, EVER. Reid and Durbin are effectively saying that the Senate does not have to seat anyone they don't like. Imagine if that were followed, say, the next time the Republicans are in power and decide not to seat any of the Democrats.

It saddens me so much to see this charade being played out by the people of Illinois to fill the seat of such a great man as Barack Obama. From what I have seen of Rolland Burris he is a joke and should not be allowed to fill this Senate seat. If I was an Illinois citizen I would be outraged by both the so called Governor and Burris for even attempting this ploy. Enough is enough. Get rid of these crooks and restore some integrity to the state. It is a horrific distraction to the event about to take place in the history of the United States of America.

just to make a correction to the story: jesse white did not "certify" the appointment that isn't a power granted to the secretary of state under illinois law. what jesse white did do was to sign a statement that certified that the attached certificate of appointment (signed only by the governor) is a copy of an authentic document that was recorded by the secretary of state (regardless of whether white agreed to countersign the appointment, he was obligated under illinois law to record it).

in other words, jesse white is merely attesting to the authenticity of the document from which the copy was made, he was not certifying the contents of the document itself. as the illinois supreme court stated, the secretary of state would be obligated to provide this certification for any copy of a recorded document as long as the person requesting the copy paid the fee.

The media are responsible for putting Burris on the front burner and the economy on the back burner. Why? Because they don't have to do any work to understand the Burris matter, and controversy always attracts buzzards.

Durbin appears to get it, but he's from Illinois. Do the rest of the democrats realize how ridiculous they are making themselves look over a formality when we all know they would have the power to suspend the rules and accept those $5 bills?

In all likelihood, at some point, Burris will be seated. And then, who will he have to thank for it? Certainly not Harry Reid.
