It took me along time to get over my n egative impression of HillaryClinton because of the antics that occurred during the primaries and I can honestly say that I wasn’t too happy with her as Secretary of State but I respected Obama’s choice because in the end HillaryClinton was the one who put party first; she could have dragged this out during the convention but she had more class and dignity and in her most powerful speech she showed that it wasn’t just about her but it was about all of us.

And after what we have just gone through with Roland Burris the Clown and his traveling circus, HillaryClinton has now fully regained my support and respect; HillaryClinton in the end she showed what Roland Burris is morally bankrupt in showing and that is her integrity.

I hope that the new administration will work on creating a Department of Peace that has its own secretary. If we want to bring peace then why is there not a department that represents this? If one or the other side (Israelis or Palestinians) would learn that in order to practice their religion freely and in peace it does not require that they do so in a location where they feel they need to live in the territory or near the relics of their past, we could give one or the other side Texas. Many Nations could volunteer to help one or the other side make the move to Texas (through funding and transportation) and the two sides would be separated by thousands of miles. Plus the fact Iran's desire to build an atomic warhead that could reach Israel might subside after they realize it was the Israeli's who took us up on our offer to move to Texas. On the other hand if it were the Palestinians who took the Texas offer Iran would see how good a neighbors the U.S. have become with the Palestinians (now owning, living and profting in Texas) and would want the U.S. as friends as well, and would be willing to give up their nuclear bomb desires to develop and maintain this frienship with the U.S.

The Clinton messages is the same as Bush's message. "No options will be taken off the table" (i.e., we'll bomb Iran), and we'll use "smart power," I guess in contrast to "dumb power." It is the same policy with some additional and softer sounding words. As long as we call everyone "terrorist" we won't get anywhere. The real terrorist is the Israeli government that has killed close to 1,000 people in Gaza, injured countless more and has destroyed the homes of thousands with American-supplied weapons.

A poor choice. Clinton does not have the abilities needed for the position. I agree with Bret, Litchfield IL that no one wants 4 years of finger pointing but you have to still put the blame squarely where it belongs and it belongs on the Bush administration and their horrible crimes against the US and the world after 8 years. It's a lot of work to accomplish and not enough time and all Clinton will bring to the table are mistakes and problems that will have to be cleaned up later by VP Biden and the UN.

Absolutely right. Strength through integrity, conviction, support of others. Going it alone as a cowboy at noon in a Western town in 1885 doesn't show strength but to those directly associated with a conflict and then briefly.

President Theodore Roosevelt cautioned that we must walk softly and carry a big stick. There is strength if I ever saw it. Using diplomacy by walking softly but have the big stick as a back-up if all else fails. Leaders of the world aren't stupid. They know we have the big stick but they want respect and to know what is in it for them if they make nice. Just shoot first and ask questions later makes no friends and many enemies. It makes one look like a bully who goes around beating up on the wimpy kids just because he can and because he gets a kick out of it.

True leaders don't bully they use diplomacy and sanctions. Sure it takes longer but often works better, is less destructive and cheaper than using a big stick.

What are the answers?

What do you expect from Hillary Clinton if her message is similar to that of other administrations? The world sees Israel and the Palestinians (Hamas and Hezbolah) at each others thraots (for years). Iran and Syria and other Arab nations are going to back the opalestinains in one form or fashion. Israel is going to fight to survive. Iran wants a nuclear weapon and is intent on getting it. Russia is looking for a comeback as a major power player. Some countries south of our borders resent the U.S. China is passing us quickly as an economic power. North Korea is still run by a nut case, India and Pakistan cotinue to threaten one another, etc, etc. What the hell do you expect anyone nominated for Secretary of State to say, or just exactly what qualifications do they need? That they have miracle answers for all these worldly ills. Yeah right. Clinton will do her best but has no more answers than anyone else as to all these issues where events control the conflicts and will determine the outcomes. Not some desired but impractcial all-knowing, powerful Secretary of State or President as there are no such people.
