The GOP does not want to be portrayed as the culture of corruption again in '08, which may be why even conservative sources are calling for Renzi to step down. Also, some Republican seats were lost (Foley, DeLay) because they became open too late for a GOP candidate to mount a vigorous campaign. To be fair, there are also corrupt Democrats (Jefferson and Mollahan) who are hanging on to their seats during FBI investigations. They have not been asked to resign. When they are, it clearly shows the Bush administration is not good at having to explain them. 6 years plus of no accountability or taking responsibility for their actions had worked well for them. Some people don't see corruption, whether they be republicans or democrats. There's no one group immune from corruption. I'd like to see people vote for the best person, and not just the party, but it's easy to see the wrong in someone who is unlike you and easy to forgive someone who is more like you. It's wrong, but it's the way it is. Who doesn't do this? I guess we vote for the people we think will represent "our way" the best, as much as we can figure out what that is at any given time.
