I have this feeling that Obama is the type who is more concerned about the work that will be required in the Oval Office than he is about the decour of the office.

Although I was imagining one of those wall mounted basketball goals going up in the office, or the kind you can attach to the top of your office trash can.

The wierd thing about the Obama inauguration is that people already are sure that parts of his speech, if not all, will be etched in stone. I think they're getting funding for the Lincoln-like Monument to be dedicated to BHO, and he hasn't said a word or even done anything as president yet.

The media has Barack so high on a pedestal that if and when he screws up, they'll cover it up or will find excuse after excuse to blame it on Bush or somebody ..... because any of Obama's bad decisions or mistakes (and there will be some) will make the media look bad for treating him like the Messiah.

Another wierd thing is does BHO think he's Abe Lincoln or just want to be like him, just like the Obama groupies Olbermann, Mathews and Maddow.

I like the hoops idea, CA!

The most important part of the office is what happens inside and the willingness of the occupant to listen to diverse ideas and opinions and solutions.

That being said, I'd like them to get rid of the rug and let Michelle design a new one. I know that the opportunities facing the President and the nation certainly trump the rug and spending time and resources on such a mondane thing could seem petty. However, I really do want them to smudge the place with sage and shamans etc. just to get the questionable energy out of the place. This is a new beginning for all of us. I'm so excited!!!

I think this a story about nothing. I've read up up on transition customs and this is the typical act of the incoming president. This rug will be replaced with matching chairs and sofas, Once the Obama's design their own (but this takes some time). After that the Bush design will be made available to the future Bush Presidential Library. Same thing occured with the Clinton rug being used by Bush, even though it's rumored that Bush's had hated the decor of the Clintons. That is why it was very funny when Bill Clinton told Bush how much he liked the rug. And for the reason the news media was not informed enough to get the joke. It is a thing among the presidents, they all get to design and keep their oval rug.

I am a Republican and I voted for Barack Obama because I felt that if McCain got into office we would still be in the mess we are in and it would only get worse. I also had to think about the chance of whoever was his VP taking over the job. I could never understand what McCain saw in Palin to pick her, the only reason I could come up with was that because Mr. Obama had not picked Hilary, he was going to make sure the Republicans had the first woman VP. Even now she is still blaming everyone else for them losing the election. Most candidates after losing an election stay out of the limelight, but not her, she has to keep her face on TV. If she would only stay out of the limelight and let people forget her for the next 4 years and learn things, she will have a better chance, if she decides to run for office, but right now, she does not have a chance in hell of getting the highest office in the land.

As for the rug, it is normal that the rug stays there until the new President picks out a new one and this one will be sent to Bush's Preidential Library. Personally I like Clintons Carpet much more then Bushes, but I favor the red, white and blues for that office.
