While the circumstances of how this came out are bizarre and lead to speculation, the truth is that there was a well-known debate within Obama's team of where to put Biden in either the ticket or any future Obama administration. On the other hand I haven't seen the level of disrespect for the office and, yes, the hatred as I have seen for the last 6 years toward the outgoing President. The REAL haters, mostly on the far Left, are going to either continue hating or not know what to do with themselves. After a honeymoon, they may start to hate Obama if he governs the way he says he's going to, from the center, and they don't get their far Left agenda through. As a Christian, I don't hate anyone. I certainly don't hate Mr. Obama. He seems to be a nice family man who I'd enjoy having a meal with or something. I do, however, disagree with virtually all his voting history as a politician. I also don't think ANY of us really know much about him. He has created the brilliant ruse of appearing to be all things to all people and many will be disappointed. And that's what upsets many people...we elected a complete unknown. I have been pleasantly surprised by some of his cabinet picks. Hillary I think will be a creditable, strong Sec State. I think it's a good move to keep Bill Gates on at Defense, at least for the next couple years. The Jim Jones pick is brilliant if Obama listens to him. On the other hand, Pannetta is a strong signal that Intelligence is of secondary import, no matter how brilliant an administrator he may be. A weaker Intelligence system could be literally a disaster. Tim Geithner is said to be brilliant economically, but unfortunately in the end he is a common tax cheat and should be removed from consideration. We need to have cabinet-level people of the highest moral/ethical character. Geithner is clearly a step in the wrong direction from that standpoint. The person tapped to run EPA is a gone-off-the-deep-end Socialist nut job (I forget her name). Mr Obama will be my President in a little over two hours. He will have my respect and I will give him an opportunity to change my mind. If things continue as they have the last couple months, I will end up, I think, far less unhappy than those Lefties I mentioned earlier. If he veers far left, especially on the economy, he will end up as Jimmy Carter 2, and just as we needed Jimmy Carter to get to Ronald Reagan, maybe we need Barack Obama to get to, say, Bobby Jindal?? Only time will tell. But Clara, I too hope you have a wonderful time in DC today.
