It can't hurt to get the views of those who have held the office before. The diverse opinions of past SoS will give a more centered opinion that Secretary Clinton can guild on. They may know something she doesn't or can reinforce what she does. Sec. Clinton has already talked with Sec. Rice and should be seeking Sec. Powell too. Imagine talking to Republicans. Gee, if the shoe were on the other foot do you think the Republican would ask advise or even talk to the Democrats who held the job before.

The Obama Administration is trying very hard to be bi-partisan but it will be up to the Republicans whether that truly happens or not.

A smart move. Notice President Obama spend a brief amount of time with previous Presidents. It's not so much what SoS Shultz says, it's more about crossing party lines. This proactive approach of working with reasonable republicans (oxymoron) will pay dividends. While the Dems are working to build bridges and minding fences, the GOP (Grumpy Old Politicians) are picking a leader. Only in America.
