Now this is the type of journalism I LOVE to see on First Read. Hard core facts. Make of it what we will. That would be 1.35 of the 5 trillion deficit we've been 'trying to account for'. Another tril on Iraq. Several hundred Billion missing. Another tril on the last bailout. I guess the fiscal conservatives didn't realize how quickly it all piles up on you. Kind of like Animals in a barn, before you know it, your wading in it. Ironically, none of that deficit spending went to infrastructure and apparently it didn't stimulate any job creation, as we are down 2.7 million jobs. Or is work that we are down. I need a Michael Steele refresher course on pretzel logic to live by.

I told you Democrats were complicit in the disastrous Bush tax cuts! Most everything else that passed too, including NCLB and the Medicare prescription bill. Dems even overwhelmingly supported the partial birth abortion ban for the second or third time. Then there's the war(s).

On this one, Richard - I am right there with you! The difference is that the Dems at least showed up to play. Republicans were told how to vote before the first meeting and have not wavered from that position; which seriously perpetuates their lack of maturity and depth. Just my perspective.

The only reason the foreign auto makers are in the US is because the government gave them favorable tax incentives and money to come here. The only reason their labor costs are under control is because the majority don't have overpaid unions. The reason their retirement plans are OK is because they are "young" companies to the US and don't have as many retirees and legacy costs.

The government took away from US automakers and gave to foreign auto makers. Now the government wants to further restrict the Big Three and put them out of business. That's not SAVING JOBS.

Good. you see it too. Tax cuts brought foreign automakers to states that didn't have them before. Repeat: Tax cuts!!And they created good paying J-O-B-S for the people in those states and our country. ANd those people pay T-A-X-E-S. And they don't need extra benefits paid for by the government.

And now Obama, Frank, Pelosi, Reid, and Schumer will bring the automakers back to Washington, berate them for a few days, give them another $60 billion and send them on their way. Then we'll repeat the process in December again when the Big 3 has lost the money again.
