I think it's time for the Generally Obsolete and Pathetic party to simply go away and let a new party take its place. As long as they stick around spewing the same old garbage, they're only assuring total Democratic rule. IMO that's just as bad as total Republican rule. They're surely digging themselves out of existence and can no longer contribute anything useful to the political conversation as they are now. If they truly believe in "Country First", they'll step aside and let the country move on without them. Another party of more moderate conservatives, free of the vitrol and bigotry and religious dogma, will certainly rise up and take it's place. And the country will be able to make its choices from among the best and the brightest in their party, not the most ignorant.

Peggy Noonan says "A great party needs give. It must be expansive and summoning. Great parties are coalitions........" The big problem with that statement is the GOP has refused to compromise, pander to radical right wing religious our way or else crowd, use wedge issues to divide Americans along class, race and/or sexual orientation. Demography does not bode well for them and I truly believe that presently Democrats are more united than they have BEEN IN A LONG TIME. The GOP seems to be the ones fighting amongst themselves w/ their ONLY agreement to say no to Obama. It pretty cynical, selfish, mean-spirited and arrogant to want POTUS TO FAIL ONLY TO SAY WE TOLD YOU SO.

How funny is this.The republican party thinks by using Jeb Bush they will have a High profile name to go with there Out dated ideas.So they are putting lip stick on a pig, and hopes we will look at there ideas.Jeb Bush high profile,really,just the name alone will turn 80 % of the country off,and the rest are Bush lemmings.So who are they hoping to reach,well with a all-star line up of far right wing players.My guess is that if you have the same team on the field,expect the same results.

And this message is for the Democrats out there. Do NOT sit on your laurels and think the GOP is not going to regroup. They will return, and stronger than ever. We need to form our own coalition, even though we now have the W.H. and Congress, good things in life come in cylces....they don't last long. So...to my Democratic friends out there, stop fighting the last Administration on Torture, and let's move forward on things like jobs, energy and healthcare....but mostly jobs. I cannot tell you enough having been unemployed off and on or looking for work from 2003 to 2005, how important a Job is for one's self-esteem. This is why the Democratic Party has to perform on this watch.....they have to pull jobs out of hat over the next four years...or they lose in 2012 to the first Republican Star who comes along these next few years.

Current behaviors based upon past actions lead one to consider the outcome is not good.

Not being a mind-reader,but I would guess that Peggy expressed a hope rather than a conviction on this issue. While I do not agree with her conclusions in several issues, her reasoning processes are more than adequate.
