Wow that was a close race 4 years ago that Deeds barely won. Still it will be interesting to see if he can beat McAuliffe in the primary. But either will be far better than that evil elephant McDonnell and should beat him handily.

Why don't you stay out of Virginia politics since you have enough problems in your own state. McDonnell is leading every Dem candidate in the polls, so don't count on that 'beating him handily' thing.

McDonnell was a far right nut but since he wants to run for governor, he is acting like a moderate. He is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest.
The dems can probably beat him if they can get enough people to show up and vote but McCauliffe won`t play well in VA to close to the Clintons.
Also VA has the habit of voting for a governor of the opposite party that is in the white house. If it`s deed amd McDonnel it will be close.

I live in Northern Va (in Jim Moran's district) and was leaning towards Brian Moran because I am familiar with him. (Don't care for Terry McCauliffe since last year's presidential primaries.) However, this TV ad is my first look at Craig Deeds and it made me want to know more about him. He looks good. As I recall, First Read saw him at the fish-plank event and thought he came across the best when he spoke. Maybe a down-state guy would have a better chance against McDonnell.

Hey Ashburn,

Kilgore was 5-10 points ahead of Kaine at this point in 2005. McDonnell has good name id from being AG who gets lots of press, even more so than the Governor. The GOP wants to run against McAuliffe or Moran. Deeds is their worst nightmare. He can compete in rural Virginia, and still hold his own in the urban crescent. I may live in Texas but I lived in Va in 2005.
