This is sad news. The sacrifices these soldiers and families go thru for our Country is so selfless. If someone would put out there the action that is being taken in Vegas, or everywhere, I would like the information. Showing we care about them, we appreciate their service to our country is where I would like to go with this.

Seems to me that this is more proof of how out of touch the last admin was.They left our fighting men and women to fend for them self's once they returned to there family's.Didn't much care about the ones that where at Reed either.But they had no problem sending them off to fight there chickenhawk war for OIL.and there no bid contractors who have stolen billions.But since Mr Obama has taken charge of these problems I have seen more of these support groups springing up in most towns.We thought that the Veterans admin would take care of those that needed help,we where wrong.

What has been happening is, the spouses are shipped out, this puts a tremendous strain on the families they've left behind. The spouse left behind has to assume the role of both parents and cope with all issues.

When the spouse returns, nine time out of ten the asjustment period is stormy. The military spouse has PTSD, the wife/husband and family has to deal with that issue and it can sometime be volitile.

Families need to go through counseling, it doesn't just affect the person that served in the military, it affects the entire family and that is what no one has ever addressed...it is time.

When a husband or wife join the military, the entire family is in the military.

Maybe the last Administration didn't do more than lip service to our military and their families. This meeting seems a step in the right direction. I hope this Administration and Congress will do more. I know the GOP doesn't like social programs so they will likely vote against any such thing but there are enough Democrats now to make caring a part of our daily lives.

I must note, however that we have an ALL VOLUNTEER military and so for those who feel so lonely remember it was someone near and dear to you who VOLUNTEERED to do that. They weren't stupid. They knew they were likely to be away. Did you tell them your feelings? Did they care about your feelings? Did you even know how lonely you would be with them gone?

But regardless what you knew and when you knew it you deserve the help. It is the least we can do to attone for sending your loved one to a far off country because of a president who had a bone to pick with some two bit dictator. And, of course for those whose loved ones are in or have been to Afghanistan, you truly are the most deserving as that is where the culprits are that are behind the attacks on America. That is where our brave men and women are truly fighting for us and not some other country's people trying to rid them of some dictator. God bless!

Yes, the leadership needs to show they care, but so do the communities that surround our military bases. I live near Ft. Campbell, and there has always been a divide between "old Clarksville" and "the base." There have been many community efforts to address the needs of military families, and many are successful, yet they remain two distinct communities. I think Austin Peay (our local state university) and our local churches have probably been the most intentional and successful at integrating the two communities.

What is it you think she has done? I live in a military town, and last year she came here on a campaign stop. She told the crowd, many of whom had deployed husbands, 'I know what you're going through because with Barack off campaigning, I feel like a military spouse!' Really, really showed she has zero understanding of what a military family experiences. But I will say we have lots of resources for help already, if we're willing to ask and are willing to admit we can't do it alone.

Not to be trite, but I volunteered to do a beer bong in college. Didn't make me feel better afterwards knowing I made the choice. PS. Watch Private Benjamin - This wasn't the ARMY she signed up for. The recruiter is the most hated service person in the country. Most of these young kids don't have a clue what they are signing up for. You are usually at the top of your game, but I think you missed the mark on this one.

You Freaking Moron. Military recruitmant is at an all time high. You never served a day in the service you coward! My daughter is deploying to Kuwait and perhaps Afganistan in a weeks time and as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and will be dealing with PTSD. Up until 6 months ago, there were only 12 such positions in the entire Navy. Thank Bush and Cheney for that not to mention that many in the Medical profession are reporting to CIVILIANS because of the shortage brought on by sucessive republican administrations. In the event there is an "incident", she will be deployed into a "war zone." You are no Democrat and the only soldiering you ever did was behind a desk.

As a Republican, I bought into the "GOP is Pro Military. Dem's are Anti-Military" message for years. I have opened my eyes over the past year or so. First, I finally admitted that Bush had no business "creating" the Iraq War and there was no just reason. Then I saw that Obama earned a higher grade from Veteran's groups than even John McCain. I saw Michelle reach out to military families and the genuine warm welcome Pres. Obama received from our troops (from the message I was getting from the GOP, I thought he was supposed to be booed.) Now I see a serious attempt by this administration to make things right for those who serve and the families who support them. The Bush Administration ignored things like post-traumatic stress syndrome (sorry, "just suck it up" is not an option)So I am now seeing that one needs to search beyond words and macho lines to see true respect and care for our soldiers. Keep up the great work, President Obama.

You claim that us liberals hate the military (never mind that like you, many of us have been, are in, or have family in the military), yet you can still make some of the most hateful comments against those (both Dem and Repub) who are working to help military families. I find it amazing that so many republicans continue to believe that democrats hate the military. Someone even wrote how can Michelle make the troops feel better and hate them at the same time. I served my country for 30 years as an enlisted soldier, I retired in 2005 and have since gone back to school and obtained my Master's in clinical Social Work treating veterans with PTSD. I can tell you that the difference between the democrats and the republicans in regards to our military is that the republicans are pro defense contracting and not pro soldier, it has been the democrats who have done their best to look out for the welfare of the soldier and their famalies, from pay raises to educational programs the republicans have voted against the better programs for soldiers, while it's been the democrats who have pushed hard for higher pay and better benefits for our soldiers and veterans. So to all Americans I say don't believe everything you hear and do some of your own research on who really has the best interest od our troops at heart.

They had no idea that their president was going to lie them into a war, or send them in with minimal support, and substandard equipment, and contractors that would do shoddy work that would kill some of them. Nor did they know that they would face deplorable care back home. The troops are there to follow the orders of the CIC, whomever he may be, whatever their feelings about his orders. Unlike you and I, they don't have the luxury of sitting around second-guessing political implications.
