As one long-time political observer noted -- while it's possible that Bunning, the former Hall of Fame pitcher, is crafty enough to have Grayson warming in the bullpen to keep other potential candidates out of the primary, Bunning has never shown that level of "crafty deception" in the past.

Ron Paul has brought more new material to the table over the past five years than any other Republican and yet he is ridiculed by the entire party. I am not in agreement with most of what he says, although deep down I have sympathy for libertanian views in general. We all would like less government, if possible, but then we would have no military, federal roads, medicare, social security, etc.

During the last presidential election, Ron Paul was much closer to the ideal on family values, having remained true to his only wife and their resulting family. To hear opponents such as three-time married Rudy Guliani (once to his second cousin), and Fred Thompson and John McCain with their trophy wife replacements, not give Paul his due was too obvious. Better open up the doors to new ideas, white boys.

The Republican Party has been guilty of do as I say not as I do for decades. The Moral Majority has been overcome with moral decay in their candidates, clergy and spokesfolks (see Rush, Newt, etc.) ever since they sought to punish the use of cigars in the oval office...

While I am appreciative of your defense of Ron Paul. His ideas are hardly new. He is an advocate of constitutional government. In other words the original ideas that founded this country. His current legislative effort HR 1207 "Audit the Fed" is a much more pro-active step to curing our economy than anything our current president has put forth. Since it's inception the Fed has caused evey major economic problem we have had and then it's solutions only serve to make things worse. By saying you disagree with Ron Paul you are essentially saying you disagree with the constitution.

As far as your over simplfied description of Libertarianism I feel I must come to my parties defense. Libertarians believe in Natural Law. It is what the declaration of independence was inspired by. It is what inspired the colonists to break free of the shackles of Britain. We do not think that there should be no government at all, but rather that government should not exceed the restrictions of the Constitution. That means you get a military and public roads, but no Social Security and Medicare (considering the monumental failure of both programs I don't know why anyone would shed any tears over them).

As far as the whole moral majority point you made. We are on the same page there. Moral are hardly an exclusively political issue. In fact unless it is harming someone else we shouldn't be restricted in our actions by the federal government.
