If Chris Dodd can win his seat back after all the garbage he is linked to (highest recepient of donations from AIG,...etc, responsible for allowing bail-out $$ to go to AIG Execs with recent bill), then it's a joke for Democrats to say that ethics and integrity matter to them. For Obama to be backing this guy proves his "hope and change" and "new politics" slogans are mere words to manipulate voters.

I am in the camp that NO Senator should automatically get a pass in the primary. Is there NO acceptable Dem challenger to Dodd? Obviously, not my state; but reforming Washington affects us all and I'd like to see the career guys who've forgotten about the constituents go down to defeat. Doesn't help that he was responsible for inserting the bonuses BACK into the legislation and then he lied about it. No one should be 'safe'. Actions have consequences. And so do elections.

I am rooting for Chris Dodd. He has most certainly got an undeserved bad rap.

Clara-He did not insert the bonuses back in to the Stim package. This was never fairly portrayed by the media. He tried to exclude all bonuses to TARP recipients. The Treasury (Obama administration) said you can't do that because it won't be found to be legal if it is retroactive. So in conference, they changed the language to remove the retroactivity. The other option was scrapping the provision all together. So Dodd didn't choose anything, he was forced by the limits of the law to amend his provision.

The whole mortgage thing is ridiculous. Look the fact of the matter is that he is the head of the banking committee and so it's not surprising that AIG would be a big donor. Or that Country wide would give him a favorable rate. Do you really expect Senators when applying for a mortgage to ask to not receive a good rate? To ask that their rate be raised because it may not look good. Senators don't make millions of dollars like corporate executives, and they are very limited in how they can invest money. Yes, occasionally they get special treatment from some businesses. But if they didn't solicit the special treatment and if they don't give anything in return, then there is nothing wrong with it. During the primary, I found Dodd to be a knowledgeable public servant and a valuable part of the debate about public policiy. I believe he has been a good representative of Connecticut and should therefore be reelected. I hope Obama gives a major push for Dodd, he deserves it.

Dems stood by Clinton when he was aiding Genocide in Kosovo and Bosnia (in both cases he went in to stop genocide on one side only to have the other side turn to genocide once we left). First of all, you better get your facts straight - the GOP is not doing well in CT at all. In all fairness, no one is doing well - state or nationally.

Dodd has had his time; he did well for the state but lately - not so much.

This is why I think there should be term limits. We need all of these old dogs to go and bring in some FRESH ideas; not the same old tired ideas.

As for Lieberman, the only way he got in was that the Republicans put up a wimp of a candidate and no campaigning for him at all.
