Honestly, we have approximately 4 years before the next Presidential election - is the media going to give every hoot and nanny the spot light every time they want to toot their own horn.

This is ridiculous - campaigning for a Presidential spot when the current one has just been filed – isn’t there an appropriate time for this crap?

I think it is dangerous and non-productive for a wannabe presidential possible candidate to be questioning every decision a setting President makes – just for the sake of exposure.

Really - it's only because of the media, that idiots like Romney get's this attention.

We need to focus on what our current President is doing - not giving media attention to people that want to "bite" from the current President's popularity.

Where was this criticism during bush's Presidency as I seem to remember the development of nuclear weapons and their first test under bush. And while we are criticizing, what exactly would Romney do, invade North Korea and start a third war?

That does it. Romney needs to get his facts straight before talking. Pres Obama DID INCREASE military spending, it was simply shifted to fighting a different kind of war, you know, terrorism. Typical GOP, spend more on defense rather than provide health care, education, roads, bridges for the American people. Where does Romney plan to get all this extra money for his increased defense spending? Maybe increase taxes? As far as I'm concerned, they can cut more money from defense as soon as the economy gets better.

As for the rest of Romney's remarks, I disagree. Pres Obama stated we've made mistakes but also criticized Europe for their anti-Americanism--it was never one without the other. There's nothing wrong with admitting mistakes. Bush led the Europeans and us on a wild goose chase for WMD costing billions of dollars and lives, America needs some humility on occasions instead of cowboy mentalilty overseas--and we're still fighting those two wars seven years later. America NEEDS assistance from our allies in the battle against extremism if we are to succeed so a little humble pie apology could mend some fences--we can't do it alone. It's not about popularity, it's about restoring America's badly damaged image.

Not at all. If you listened to his ideas, and liked what you heard, great. Vote for him. I happen to disagree with his stated policies (nothing against his wealth or religion), so I won't vote for him. That's how this works.

I think that the last several years have demonstrated that speaking from a position of physical power wins you tepid support at best and is a good way to make yourself an island.

I am also mature enough to recognize that an admission of error is not necessarily a sign of weakness or betrayal, and that not all aggressive rants deserve a response. Rather, I think that being an uncompromising righteous authority all the time is a waste of energy.

I saw Romney at a fundraising breakfast last week. I always thought he was a little plastic, but he gave a great speech at that breakfast. Romney wants to increase defense spending hopefully to invest in a better prepared armed forces. The lowering of standards for recruitment is lowering moral and causing early retirement of some very qualified servicemen that would normally train and pass the torch. I have a family member that is retiring early because the new recruits continue with their street mentality while enlisted (no respect, professionalism, or discipline). It has been proven that a country that produces children that are overweight, uneducated, and gang bangers has a great impact on the recruitment process. So in the meantime hopefully he will focus on a quality education that promotes the value of nutrition instead of sodas and fast food (juices w/high fructose corn syrup), physical education instead of laziness, and a safe learning environment no tolerance for violence (being bullied has been accepted and ignored by the teachers and administration) in our schools. Building and investing in our defense is great but need you men and women of stature not criminals in our armed forces.

Someone tell Mittens that military spending has NOT been cut under Obama's budgets. Instead, the spectacular rate of growth has merely slowed. It is funny how the right wing suddenly embraces Keynes and fiscal policy when the decry how the non-existent cuts will cost American jobs.

Maybe Americans will take the Republicans a little seriously when they are honest, and acknowledge that they are really complaining that the military budget should continue to grow at the same rate that it did under Bush.

Another fact they ignore is that Obama CUT taxes, and the amount of the tax cut might even make Reagan blush. Of course, tax cut was mostly for about 95% of Americans, not the top 5%, so I guess it does not really count.
