Regardless of anything, I think that the Congress should voluntarily give up their government healthcare now - how much money will that save?

If our goverment refuses to provide us relief from our oppresive healthcare system, WE THE PEOPLE will relieve them of their jobs.

These folks need to decide who they are actually representing - the people suffering in their districts or the people who line their pockets.

This is serious stuff Obama. And every move you make is to have the federal government have more and more money and more and more control. Obama needs to accept that people will disagree with him and they have legitimate concerns about his direction.

This insinuation of impropriety in this paragraph is ridiculous.

Are we really supposed to believe that President Obama is being hurried out of rooms so lobbyists can give checks to the DSCC and DCCCC?

Last time I checked, both of these organizations spend the majority of their time AWAY from the President, so why in the hell couldn't they just get the money then?

The attempt to link the President to the fundraising practices of these groups is another desperate attempt by the media to make a scandal where there is none.

Pretty pathetic.

I wouldn't call President Obama's changes sweeping, more piddling little changes that won't really do teh trick they're supposed to. Barack really needs to show some leadership and kick some behinds into line so that we do get sweeping change we can believe in.

What's really sickening is how the Democrats are caving in on health care reform. If it costs a lot of money then it's time to raise taxes on the rich and greedy by replacing the top tax brackets that Raygunz got rid of, plus returning capital gains tax rates back to regular income tax rates. Cutting capital tax rates for the rich and greedy was the dumbest thing ever done.

I liked how Ed Schultz was on fire yesterday about Tom Daschle caving in on the public option for health care. The Democrats are going to have to grow a pair and just push through the public health care option regardless of cost, take it out of the hides of the deadbeat rich and greedy. Plus I don't see them talking about those covered by the public plan paying into it to help cover those big costs. Still if we don't have meaningful health care reform then it's better to have none at all. That way the problem will get worse and then people will get more behind the public option fix.

I would love to see a private sector only health care system. Unfortunately their past performance of irrisponsible and greedy behavior makes me wonder if a public option isn't necessary to force the private companies to do what they should be willing to do on their own. Regarding the Prez's "reform" of the financials. I'm sorry, Mr. President, but I disagree.

What his plan really does is say to intitutions, "Don't worry, we got your back. We'll bail you out the next time it happens". And these companies will have lower funding costs so they can get even bigger. What this will mean is the large "too big to fail" institutions getting even bigger, and the smaller community institutions not able to compete. Hmm, <sniff, sniff> smells like monopoly to me. The way to fight a monopoly is competiton.

Some genius figured that by moving this pile of paper into this document we can make more money, and then sold their new document to the highest bidder with no regard to financial stability or integrity.

lack of regulation or lack of knowledge how to regulate this market was the crux of the financial meltdown. not FM/FM/AIG/citi/any company. it was the new tool on the table that wasn't tested and true...

Money and influence - frankly that is how our government works. If you have money, dole it out, you have influence. Downright scary. So for the majority without money or influence, they will never get the government to help them out. And this is what you are seeing right now.

Health care - forget it the insurance and drug lobbyists will never let this happen. Money and influence.

Energy - forget it the oil lobbyists will never let it happen. Money and influence.

Nothing will improve, nothing will happen because of money and influence.

We need government for the people - support term limits and no lobbyists. And then get some stuff done. We need government for the people.
