But a council spokesman also said the irregularities were much less wide-spread than unsuccessful opposition candidates had alleged in recent complaints.”

Talk about election 2000 in America, there was voter supression....so tell me something? Those that oppose the president's handling of this situation, where were you self righteous SOB's during the 2000 election in this country. The pot can't call the kettel black.

I did spend alot of time watching whats going on in Iran. My heart goes out to the people of Iran. It gives me hope that the people of Iran want things to change. Where is NEDA'S vote?

Then I spent alot of time watching anybody and everybody analyze Pres Obama's stand on this. We sure are opinionated people!(myself included)
I will back our Pres no matter how he handles this. I truly believe if it were McCain handling this we would be in another war! The answer to everything for some people. Look where we are at now with wars.
I happened to catch MTP, boy was that interesting. DG was like an attack dog when it came to Netanyahu. Wish he would attack Repugs and ask them where is their plan for health care!

Just heard from Contessa Brewer that the police and thugs are cracking down on the brave protesters in Iran. That's pretty conclusive proof of vote rigging when 50 districts are reporting more votes cast than eligible voters. No wonder Iran was touting a record voter turnout, old Ahmadi had preplanned the vote rigging and wanted cover for his misdeed by declaring a record turnout.

President Obama is playing his hand perfectly and the repugnant ones are once again warmongering idiots who want belligerence instead of diplomacy. Just what can we do to right the situation in Iran, use military force? Yeah the evil elephants want to start yet another christian crusade against another Muslim state.

It is inconceivable to me how people like Perry in Ohio don't get this. As soon as Iran is able to make the United States and Great Britain the issue, the hardliners win. The only appropriate response is what President Obama has done thus far. Journalists being forced to leave Iran are a reminder to all of us of the importance of a free press. The Fourth Estate has a special obligation to honestly report and help to keep the pressure on totalitarian govts. It is no surprise that the hardliners in Iran want them out.

Ahmadinejad and Khamenei want their supporters to believe that the protests in Iran are the result of meddling and tampering by the United States. The more President Obama says, the more fuel is thrown onto that fire!

The less President Obama says, the more obvious it will be to Ahmadenijad, Khamenei and their supporters that this is their own problem.

As if Nancy Pelosi is hitting them with steel bars and teargasing them rather than using the routine parliamentary procedures followed by most democracies to keep the Repubs from ranting indefinitely just for the sake of obstructionism.

It's one thing when one person says something stupid, but 4 or 5 Repubs have been saying this stuff about how they're suffering opression like the Iranians. We cannot be seen as meddling in their affairs but at the same time must get the word out that what is happening in Iran is not something we condone. The Guardian Council said that there were 3 Million extra votes not the 11 Million that was alleged. This is unbelieveable. MN is arguing about 300 or so votes and the Iran Guardian Council ammits to 3,000,000 bogus votes.

President Obama is taking the correct possition. He has supported free elections and free discent and has and will up the statements as needed.

Why does the minority party think taking a measured, wise, Gary Cooper kind of response is timid?
They are using this tragedy to attack our President. How unamerican can you get.

US & Repub. cowardly withdew from VN, the result was 1975, NVN captured the south and kill hundred thousand of Vietnamese and millions of Vietnamese fled the country for their freedom and thousand of them died at sea. Iranians want freedom from their marty government, they must fight for themselves. US should never involve in other countries. American principles & values won't match for other countries. Don't force American principles & valued down to other country's people throats. Do Americans live up with their principles & values? History will repeat if US involve in Iran.

I'm still wondering why neither side has really acted boldly. If I were leading the green wave in Iran I would mysteriously disappear these Basiji guys by arresting them in the night, etc. They do a raid and walla they mysteriously never exit the house. Then the next day do a demostration unopposed. When asked who knows where these Basiji guys went. I mean they are normal folks, the Iranians know where they live so whats the big problem. Likewise at the same time Rafsanjani just needs to pull a military coup and if the top level won't I bet their subordinates would be willing to arrest them and take charge. Then realtively little bloodshed you just replace Khameini. Boom problem solved. So whats all this foot dragging over there. As to Obama, its highly likely that if we had anyone BUT Obama in office these events would have never occured for various reasons including: having the rest of the world watch us have a transformational election, the fact that we elected a guy named Hussein, and Obama's Cairo speech. So if you guys think Obama had nothing to do with whats going on in Iran you would be mistaken.

Could most Americans even pick Iran out on an unmarked map? I think not, embaressingly enough.
I was in Iran during the last revolution of 1979 and it's aftermath--80% OF THE PEOPLE AT THAT TIME MOURNED THAT THE MULLAHS HAD SLIPPED IN AND TAKEN OVER. They have been suffering ever since and they have taught their children quietly.
Obama is doing the right thing in this very tricky situation.
Instead of criticizing him, why don't you actually attempt to learn something about this brave and long suffering country. Like hey--they don't speak Arabic and are not Arab, they speak an Indo-european language that is closely related to english. No camels there either. Iran means Aryan, hmmmmmmmmm......
