Roll Call reports, “Judiciary ranking member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) sounded a new GOP alarm Wednesday about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, arguing that if installed she could put Second Amendment rights at risk. The nominee’s track record on the issue ‘is fairly scant, but we do know that Judge Sotomayor has twice said that the Second Amendment does not give you and me a fundamental right,’ Sessions warned.”

This little kluck is trying his best to derail her confirmation with this stupid BS. Sessions, she will not be the only person on the bench ruling on laws.

Sotomayor has no ethics issues, and is obviously qualified. Obama selected her to be the new Supreme Court Justice. She should be scrutinized, but barring any negative revelations, she should be confirmed.

I felt the same way about Roberts and Alito during the Bush administration, but apparently a lot of people who post here disagree. It appears that only a Democratic President should have the right to pick a Supreme Court justice based on idealogy. When Bush did it, Kerry tried to filibuster.

That is why it is so satisfying to see Clarence Thomas with a lifetime appointment. It is nice to see an African-American man who doesn't blindly follow the lead of self-appointed black leaders Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Say what you will about Thomas. He deserves far more respect than those two camera seeking publicity hounds.

Chicken Little Sessions should get a clue that Sotomayor will be confirmed and all this limpwristed conservative crybabying will accomplish is to honk off Hispanics. Whining about the 2nd Amendment is getting a bit old now, the last gasp of desperation is when the evil elephants start whining about someone taking their guns away.

I saw the good news on msnbc.com today that some freaked out white supremacist who threatened federal judges with violence has been arrested. Hopefully they'll throw the book at him and keep him in prison until he rots. One less vote for the repugnant ones.

I wonder who's side Old Arlen is really on wanting Sotomayor's confirmation hearings televised. Did any of the bushwhacker's nominees have their hearings televised?

He conviently benefited from afirmative action and now strictly sides against it, who really knows whether or not he actually did commit sexual harassment towards Anita Hill; considering the lying track records of so-called conservative/ Republicans(MORAL VALUES),
and finally the fake outrage about victimhood i.e., high tech lynching. The Man nows sits on the high court and basically saids nothing during oral arguments. Liberals/progressives are and will continue to be outraged that he replaced the great Thurgood Marshall. It's almost the same, god forbid, if The Shrub had succeeded w/ Harriet Myers.

Sotomayers previous ruling on a second amendment issue states that the second amendment only applies to the federal government and not the states. WTF! Does that mean the states also have the right to curtail freedom of speech under the first amendment? Does it mean that Georgia has the right as a state to ignore the 13th amendment?
