I agree that the public option is necessary; but do we need the strong arm tactics?

It is so gratifying to see a concerted effort to use the same tactics that have so successfully derailed good legislation to help push it along.

But I fear that rather than just pushing to get the targeted person to "move on" in the right direction, they need to put some facts out there to combat the false assertions that a public option will:

Eliminate people's choices of private plans
Put the government between you and your doctor
Raise the deficit

The right is doing a very effective job of spreading their mis-information campaign - as usual. It needs to be counteracted with facts!

A threat against Sen. Kay Hagan basically says do what we want or you are history, vote wise.

Here's an idea . . .

It's painfully obvious from this health care reform debacle that most, if not all of our politicians are in the pocket of the very rich industries that fund their campaigns. This has supplanted the voice of the people and we get crap legislation that has no teeth. How do we get rid of this outsized influence by the very wealthy?

Wait for it . . .

Make it a law that all political contributions must be made anonymously. Make it a jailable offense if the identity of a donor is revealed.

Earlier this morning, we warned you to expect MoveOn and other progressive groups to press North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan, after she suggested she wasn't ready to support a public/government option to compete against private health insurers.

Well it appears that they've gotten our message and feeling what we're feeling. This is excellent. It's serving those that chose to be fence sitters notice that we aren't going to put up with their politics as usual...they can be gone next election if they don'y pass HCR.

Interesting how opponents of health care reform want it both ways.
A. Government can't run anything well, so we don't want the public health care option((just look at our VA Hospitals! Of course the lack of funding voted for by congress (or not) has NOTHING to do with this problem)). B. The government public health care option will be so much better and cost effecient that it will drive those badly run private insurance companies right out of business. Here's an idea --- let's privatize health care and let Blackwater run it. They have done such a terrific job in Iraq taking away all the jobs our inefficient ARMY (government run, of course) did, and doing it SOOOO much cheaper than the government ARMY could do it (that's what privatization is all about after all, the MONEY). We have brought the Iraqui people so many luxuries and jobs by letting Blackwater do the work. They have so much good water, electricity, great buildings. Let's let Chaney and Blackwater make more successes and let them handle health care, too. Also, all the Republicans that think Chaney is a GOD, will be happy with our president 'cause Chaney will make MORE MONEY and he can be on TV more often, too because he will almost be as important as our president. Ya Think???!!!

Probably because Senator Hagan derived ~2.4 million dollars in campaign contributions as well as thousands of volunteer hours from liberal groups like Move On, Daily Kos, and Act Blue.

If she crosses the progressives on health care she can expect a well funded and staffed primary opponent in 2014.
