Politicians PERIOD! are such loathing cowards. It's status quo as always. God forbid if w/ take on tough social issues and continues to ignore, sweep under the rug, AND not conviently take it own because the polls may dictate taking it on. That's why it took close to 130 yrs for women to be allowed to vote and 170 yrs for Civil rights for blacks. So now it comes down to another miniority fighting for civil rights. It took honest Presidents of both parties like BOTH Roosevelts, Truman, Eisenhower, and Johnson to act as true leaders not act timid to not rock the boat.

My church gets a couple of thousand for our yearly blood drive. Our school system gets a couple thousand for the yearly blood drive.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 31% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-three percent (33%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. That matches the lowest level yet recorded (see trends).

I and millions and millons of other Americans have health insurance but we are always just one misstep away from losing a job and losing our health insurance. We all know relatives and friends who would like to have health insurance but their job does not provide it or they have no job and can't afford it. We all know that we already pay high premiums (for high cost service - dollars for aspirine and a glass of water while in the hospital)because we are also paying for the uninsured who go to emergency rooms and get "free (I pay) services from our well paid private doctors. I want a decent basic care public insurance option that will give me somthing to fall back on if I do lose my present policy. I want a decent public insurance option that helps make for more competition (since most health care is now a closed shop of the biggest firms). I want a public option that will break the choke-hold the medical giants have on the availability of cheaper drugs. I want the Republican and Democratic lawmakers to finally come to grips with the fact that they play with health care as a political ball game every term and they do nothing but leave more and more of us Americans in far right field without health care....because the obviously don't care. I will also be angry and make my list of all those who vote against a good comprehensive health care plan and write and blog and send them notes for the remainder of their term. I intend to work as I can to use the people's media - internet - to keep them from being re-elected. Republican or Democrat = it don't matter, because there are plenty of the people R & D's who are without health care. If we can afford two wars, tax breaks for the rich and corporations,and pork barrel spending for pet projects we can afford health care. And if we can't afford health care I want to see all of the above items cut to the bone as well. There are millions of both parties who want this done, know it must be done, and will be angry if it is not done.

For me the absolutely non-negotiable item is a public option.. Obama must not compromise on this in ordet to get something passed. If he does it means that the Insurance companies have won the day. I would rather his plan for funding than taxing our health benefits. I think this is Republicans trojan horse to try and make Dems look bad. But I do see that despite how unpopular it will be, it is more fair to those people who must purchase privately and in the long run will discourage exorbatabt costs.

There is a difference between leadership as practiced by President Obama and the "my way or the highway" approach of Dubya. DC is a fractious place with lots of ingrown problems. Term limits would be a nice way to poke holes the the bubble of congress.

Ron, Eagle and Juan all have good points above. The average pol is by definition reactive while a leader is proactive. We need more leadership in Congress to match the President's dynamism.

Ron, Harry Reid has been a disappointing Sen Majority leader. It woulld be nice to see a change there in the next congress!

HRC then Energy, then Immigration reform!
