Wendell Potter is out there trying to tell us what is really going on. When is the MSM going to focus on this and stop the insurance companies, via republican talking points, from brainwashing the public? We have been hoodwinked about health care for too long!

Republicans - WHAT ARE YOUR SOLUTIONS??? Do not give us empty rhetoric about why Obama is wrong, prove to us you are right!!! I would even take someone posting here giving a intelligent, thought provking solution to the HCR problem.

But for some reason, I doubt I will get one. What I do expect is to see countless attacks against the group at least trying...without much compromising solutions from the other side.

One gets tired of responding to these comments. The "Evil Ones" do not want healthcare reform. They want this to go on and on until they feel the public will lose hope & forget about it. How can any decent human being look at themselves in the mirror each morning and know that they are denying health care to millions of Americans. Maybe they are one of those half human-half animal creatures that Brownback wants to make sure are not cloned in this country. Why haven't these idiots finished drafting their so called healthcare bill? Simply because they do not have one! I have private health care and am being pushed around because the Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Anthem) does not pay their bills on time to a particular hospital here in Louisville with many satellites, and so the hospital dropped them. I have had two procedures done at this hospital and now I have to go elsewhere. Does not that sound like what the Repugs are saying the public option will be? I know that Mitch McConnell does and he distinctly know what is going on here in Louisville. Truthfully I almodt get physically ill when I see these idiots on TV. But one thing I know is that idiots are not, they are dangerous and the fools who voted for them are only getting what they deserve. In one word NOTHING.

Its obvious which way this article is written. What is constantly neglected by these articles that drone on and on about how horrible republicans are is that this is not healthcare reform at all. Costs are not lowered, procedures are not made easier, etc. It is simply extending healthcare and forcing people (small businesses especially who are supposed to jump start the economy and hire people) to subsidize everyone else's healthcare. The bill proposed is nothing more than a farce and it's a good thing that somebody actual has enough of a brain to say that we're not fixing the costs of healthcare, which is what reform really is.

No republicans are saying "no" to healthcare definitively, they are saying "not right now," which is important to grasp. If you get healthcare but your economy can't take the immediate strain of the debt that Obama keeps trying to pile on, will it really benefit you at all?

Boehner's comment about lawsuits driving up the cost of health care is ignorant and laughable. Most every state has now enacted some form of tort reform with caps on damages, pain and suffering. I sincerely hope Mr. Boehner is just doing some political "puffing" and does not really believe such horsehockey.

I don't think many Republicans object to a plan to ensure all Americans access to health care. What they object to is the cost. When you're in the midst of the worst economy in decades and the largest deficit in history, you seek solutions to cure that problem first. Ever heard the saying "Don't spend a dollar unless you've got a dollar"? If consumers had taken that approach to spending, we certainly would not be in this economic mess. Maybe the U.S. government should learn from the mistakes of its citizens. Stop spending and accruing debt before our economy is stable and the national debt is under control! Obama is trying to ride his celebrity in order to push this bill through before his popularity further dwindles. There is no other logical reason to rush such a HUGE bill through over a few weeks when the citizens, and more importantly, Congress and the Senate, can even understand what the long-term consequences are. I'm 28, and I certainly don't want to pay for this when I'm about ready to retire. Sometimes, no action or delayed action is the best action. Take your time Congress, spend a year to fully understand ALL the ramifications, and find a bipartisan solution in year. There's no rush when you're talking about over a trillion dollars!

My previous Health Insurance provider had a list of drugs and procedures that were covered under my plan as well as an "in network" list of doctors. If It was not listed I must pay for it myself. My doctor prescribed Nexium for a condition I had. My Insurance Provider would not cover it. I would say my provider was placing itself between me and my doctor. We must recognize that the Insurance companies are for profit. They provide a service and could not care less about the needs of their clients. The Goverment, on the other hand, has no profit motive only service to the citizens. I am now in the VA healthcare system. I can get a same-day appointment if needed. Procedures are taken care of proffesionally and I am treated with dignity. I may have to schedule non-critical procedures a month in advance but so what. I have a small co-pay based on income. My healthcare is Goverment run and far better than any private provider care I have ever had.

The small company I work for (just over 100 employees) had the misfortune of having 3 employees in spend over a month in the hospital each.

The company president informed employees this week that our health care costs will double this year. This is after 10-20% hikes for 10 straight years.

If the swine flu returns this fall, I feel sorry for anyone who blames the cost of healthcare on lawsuits. If one American schools close because of the flu, it will be a sure sign that EVERY single legislature who talked about lawsuits is nothing more than a lawyer that betrayed Americans.

Its clear that one thing that liberals and conservatives agree on is that we all want QUALITY, AFFORDABLE healthcare. What I find interesting is that anyone believes the federal government can provide either of those. As a physician, I can tell you that no healthcare system (government or private) will ever AFFORDABLE in the US until we reform our legal system.

Multi-tasking, multiple priorities, multiple directions are more than the average Republican can handle. It is obvious by this article. They simply are too simple minded to grasp anything other than what their narrow little minds can focus on at any given time. Sad as it is, the once Grand Old Party is now just a dying old elephant ready for the elephant graveyard. Soon only the ivory tusks and a pile of old bleached bones will be all that is left of the party of NO. Theodore Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower would all be saddened by what their party has become. It is good that they haven't lived to see it as it might well have killed them to see how bad the current batch of Republicans are. There was a time when Republicans cared about regular people but those days are long gone. Today all they are interested in is their own selfish interestis and those of their wealthy friends. Small business owners, working people of all sorts just don't resonate with them. Some day a smart one will come along and show them how to multi-task but until then the'll fade away at the mere sight of ordinary people and their needs.

Why has there been no consideration in joining all citizens in the same plan that is currently used to cover the president, members of Congress, all federal and state employees? I don't believe that anyone deserves better coverage than another. If the President, Senators and Representatives, Judges, FBI and CIA agents are covered by a different plan than the rest of us, I find that that is very discriminating! If you want to cover everyone, than do it equally!

I thought health care was in the Constitution. Oh, that's tight it isn't. That makes it a service and not a right. What is next? No extended car warranty so you will have to buy extended warranty insurance? Then what? To fight obesity every grocery buyer will have to buy 3 different fresh fruits or vegetables on every store visit? Isn't this like when the Clintons pushed for owning a home was a right and it led to the current mortgage mess? Not my interpretation but many economists that have labeled the worst 10 culprits to the current meltdown. We have become a country that thinks that privileges and rights mean the same things. Personally, I have a real ptoblem with what is going to happen 20 years from now with the health plan and bailouts. Are we no longer responsible for our actions? Is it not politically correct to live within our means? I am personally against tobacco use but if a person wants to use it why not let them. If we pass laws like this then we go back to prohibition and that did not work.

I don't have a answer for the health care mess. I am a physician in rural Alabama. I see the never ending forms and documentation required by the Federal Government. On the other hand we struggle as all small business to provide insurance for our employees with endless increase in premiums. I just hope something good comes out of this. The only thing I want is for my patients to have the same level of care that legislators are provided with Federal insurance programs.
