And for how many years has the CBO gotten it wrong? Their projections, while relied upon, have consistently been wrong. I find it interesting that the Hospitals felt they could meet the administration to the tune of $400Billion in cost savings. I am sure there are plenty of 'savings' dollars there, we just need to keep turning over the rocks and pick up the cash.

If you are doing relatively well in NYC, then expect your tax rates to be near 60% if health reform goes through and Cap and Tax. So what incentive is there to work harder?

And if they have any shortfalls and are unable to tax the "rich" anymore, then expect them to come after the middle class.

For all intents and purposes, Cap and Tax IS a tax on the middle class and poor. Companies don't pay taxes, consumers do.

Why do we keep hearing about Republican opposition to this poor attempt at Health Care reform. Yes, virtually all Republicans will rightly oppose this legislation, but 1/3 of Democrats are against this as well. The majority of the nationas elected officials oppose this legislation, but the extreme left will try to bully and impose their agenda on the country. Right now, back room deals are going on to either incent or twist the arms of Democrats to support this bill.

Anybody with a brain knows the Democrats are low-balling the costs of the program, and over-estimating any "savings" they are claiming. This turkey of a bill will cost American taxpayers at least double what the Pelosi and the Democrats are stating.

--Preventive care is one of phrases that sounds great and would probably make a better healthcare system. I'm skeptical of the cost savings (possible), certainly not to the degree Pelosi hopes. It would be interesting for the CBO to take a look at preventive care verses our current care. I hope they do.

I've wondered why if preventive care saves money, why don't more insurance companies insure in such a way? It would seem like a great way to beat a competitor. Hence my skepticism--and no you liberals, the private insurers are not merely avoiding preventive care because of their evilness.

I hope the press presses on whether preventive care is fiscally better and not just a cool phrase. (It might be worth it if it does cost more, better healthcare ya know).

Health care costs in this country will never come under control until physicians and patients alike address futility care in the last 30 days of life. The use of hospice services in this country is extremely low, physicians struggle to have difficult conversations regarding end of life with patients and patients struggle to come to accept that additional treatment may not be of benefit. So many cancer patients are admitted to hospitals and continue to receive treatments (ie chemo, etc) in the last 30 days of life. If we end up with a system such as in other countries this will have to be addressed.

Senator Kennedy should be thankful he does not live in the UK. A 78 year old with a glioblastoma would not be authorized to receive the treatment he gets in this country, based on cost-effectiveness. But he, like other wealthy individuals if Obamacare goes through, will be able to afford the MD Anderson type of care while the rest of you will not.

Humana in Louisville, KY is telling its employees that if the Public Option comes to fruition that they will lose their jobs! I know that the Insurance companies are spending $1M a day on advertisng against the Public Option, but to scare your employees is disgusting. These people are really scared and as a lot of them do not even listen to the news to know what is going on, they believe them, and that is what Humana is relying on. Insurance companies don't cover preventive care because employers and their employees change carriers every few years and there is no PROFIT in helping someone stay healthy for another insurance company's benefit! Since 1/2 of our illness - heart disease, diabetes, etc. are preventable with better diet and exercise there is HUGE savings in preventive care - but hard to quantify by the bean counters in DC.

Cost of health care is ridiculous - but what really needs to be looked at is the real reason why people are unhealthy and need this service so much.

Studies show that 50 to 70 percent of chronic illnesses are do to life style - amazing isn't it.

Congress should think of making the HCR bill two fold -

Health Care and Wellness Awareness - a national government ran wellness program included – Ran and contracted by insurance companies and sponsor by willing employees, states, etc.

Tax credits and employer cost reductions would be the motivation factor and should appease some GOPs - (TAXES).

This type of bill will help many healthy Americans stay just that and the unhealthy to slowly join the ranks of the healthy.

Thereby, reducing outrages health cost, litigations, but most important, reducing illnesses and chronic diseases.

Come on congress - let's make the bill an over all change for the American life style - the new healthy life style bill.

It will be cost effective and everyone will benefit.
