It's so stupid that abortion is such an issue for a presidential candidate. If a state wants to remain in the dark ages about a woman's right to chose then fine, but it should not be a federal issue. With all the other problems facing this country, these candidates picking on each other over this type of thing is PATHETIC. Neither one of these people will ever get my vote.

McCain is acting both petty and petulant. It's high time for him to withdraw with his tail between his legs. This is just another episode in the saga: McCain makes a catty personal attack (a la "varmint guns" and "Guatemalans off his lawn"), and Romney responds succinctly, and with class. Needless to say, the contrast between the two candidates could not be more stark.

Before reading this article, I was waivering between Romney and McCain. However, after reading it, I am more likely to vote for Romney and less likely to vote for McCain. I followed the link above and read Romney's 2005 Op-Ed. It's impressive. One thing is certain, if Romney is elected, he won't need a speech writer.

hey if Mitt loses and decides to run for governor of Michigan he will change his positions yet again. I've seen his act up close here in Mass and he said all the right liberal Republican things to get elected in Mass and then promptly dropped them to get ahead in the Republican primaries. The thing about politicians is that while there is typically some honesty in their reasoning, there's always intellectual dishonesty when they try to resolve their reasoning with the party's talking points. In Romney's op-ed piece, he argues that it's ok for victims of incest to get abortions - a point that most would agree with. However, then he goes and tries to tow the party line by saying that there should be parental consent before a girl gets an abortion. That's where things get problematic. I believe that this is a very complex and nuanced issue that requires honest debate -- and cannot be solved by one-liner bumper sticker slogans.

My conscience is fine. I didn't choose to kill any unborn babies. (50 million and counting)
I also didn't make poor decisions resulting in an unwanted pregnancy. I have dealt with my problems without killing them. I don’t think it is too much to ask anyone else to do. Don’t blame the Catholic Church or anyone else for the poor choices of others.

This issue is a choice by a woman to be in charge of her own body & her child. I'm a Mother & Parent of 8 children. I defend a Women right to abort or have a Child as her own perogative. Why is John McCain attacking Mitt Romney?
One may think why not attack Rudy he is the front runner. But McCain is no dummy this is not a battle for 3rd and 4th place. He has been in a presidential election and knows how they work. The reason that John McCain is going after Romney is because that is what makes since. Unlike Rudy who seems to see this as a national election and is following national polls McCain has be there before and knows how to stay in the race. McCain knows that who ever wins the fist primary states will probably win the election and that makes Romney the front runner. Do not be suppressed when you see Romney came from behind to win. McCains plan is simple lower Romney’s support (what every that takes) in key primary states. McCain feels that he has a good chance in these first states. McCain knows that a win in the first primary states means national polls will follow.

I like McCain, he's good and honest man but with his support for Iraq war and support for Bush , it doesn't really matter what his stance is on anything else.
As for Romney, he seems like a smart guy and not stubborn. I am a democrat but I might vote for Romney if he makes it to the final.
