The way-too-early 2008 presidential sweepstakes is underway. Those who have made known their presidential aspirations are staking out positions on issues of concern to every American. Some positions are rehashes of the same old, tired, worn out clichés while others seek to plow new ground.
I bring this up in light of a recent, outlandish statement by the current leading Democratic candidate running for president, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton who the Associated Press reportedly declared, ‘We’re (an) all in it together society’ where ‘it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.’
The trouble is, her vision of a social and economic paradise of shared responsibility and prosperity is Pollyanish and based on a philosophy that has never proven successful. It isn’t working in Communist China today, nor did it work for the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Two exemplary examples of why the promised Nirvana Hillary envisions for America doesn’t work today are communist North Korea and Zimbabwe, Africa.
You are undoubtedly familiar with the ongoing economic disaster taking place in North Korea led by “Dear Leader” Kim Jung-Il, but do you know that in Zimbabwe the we’re-all-in-this-together redistribution of the wealth policies of Marxist leaning President Robert Mugabe have led to economic collapse and massive starvation over the course of the last ten years? Keep in mind that while thousands are starving in North Korea and Zimbabwe the political leaders live very, very well. “Shared prosperity,” Hillary? “Special privileges for none,” Hillary? Yeah, right! Tell that to the people of North Korea or the citizenry of Zimbabwe where Robert Mugabe has reportedly launched a campaign of spending millions of dollars on a monument to himself!
In promoting what I see as class warfare Hillary talks of “fairness.” “Fairness,” she has declared, “doesn’t just happen. It requires the right government policies.” Oh? But Hilliary’s statement forgets two rules of life that apply to everyone. Rule number one: life itself is unfair. Rule number two: no one with the possible exception God can change rule number one.
In speech after speech Senator Clinton attempts to sugar coat her socialist objectives of egalitarian fairness with subtle, deceitful demagoguery wrapped up in one word, “fairness.” After all, who would be against fairness? But do you think it would be “fair” for some nameless, faceless bureaucrat to decide what you are paid for what you do is too much?
So why do you think she brings this up? As I see it, if elected president her vision of leveling the socio-economic playing field, a.k.a. “fairness,” is best summed up in the words of the father of communism, Karl Marx, whose idea of fairness was based on the philosophy “from each according to his ability to each according to his need.”
Anyone who values individual liberty doesn’t want some government bureaucrat or politician deciding who earns too much money compared to someone else, or that it is unfair to live in the house of their choice because their neighbors don’t have one as nice. But this is the sum and substance of Senator Clinton’s populist pandering.
Her conduct reminds me of the story of a wolf that found great difficulty in stalking sheep guarded by a shepherd and his dogs. But one day the wolf found the skin of a sheep that had been flayed and thrown aside. Putting it on over its own pelt the wolf strolled down among the sheep. A Lamb began to follow the Wolf in the Sheep's clothing. Leading the Lamb apart from the flock, he soon made a meal of her, and for some time thereafter succeeded in deceiving additional sheep, and enjoying hearty meals.
The moral of this story: appearances are deceiving. And so is the economic and social fantasy Hillary is promoting under the guise of fairness.

Now, I imagine I will receive numerous flames from readers. I however would like to defend myself first. I am not prejudice nor chauvanistic. I am however Realistic in my thought process. I know that many believe that our country has progressed farther in racial or sexual tolerance than it actually has, it unfortunately has not.

Now for a side note. The Clinton's and The Bush's run in the same circles. There is not much difference. They both have a number of the same allies both far and wide. It will be a blessing to see both go.

Hillary is the most polarizing of all the candidates, a real love/hate relationship with the public. I ponder what electoral votes she can pick up that Gore/Kerry could not. Obama is so new he probably will not be tied to Washington ineptness, but seriously does anyone not believe this is going to be a Clinton/?????ticket? The ticket I see is Clinton/Wesley Clark, this would give her a strong appearance for the Midwestern vote that she will be prepared in her Commander in Chief duties. She has been very astute in following the Bush doctrine of appeasing the moderates knowing the far left will vote for her regardless of her stands that conflict with the base. This strategy has destoyed the GOP as the 2006 elections showed; but it got Bush elected in 2004. The far right did not show up to support a party that has left its roots in 2006, but Hillary won't have that problem. She might speak like a moderate when necessary, but she would never govern like one. The Dems will have a strong turnout regardless of their current bitterness of Hillary's smart face of being hawkish, which most can recognize as just a show to appear strong on defense. If the Dems believe they can win without appearing strong on defense, one only look at 2004. They lost an election not by being swift-boated, but by refusing to take a strong postion on the war. America will not accept a flip-flopper in defense of this country. They would rather have someone who they are unsure of than someone who is unsure of himself (John F. Kerry). I am excited to see how this election turns out, I do not believe the Dems understand how much of the country despises liberalism. I do not believe the GOP understands how exiled conservatives feel. If ever a time for a third party candidate, now is the time. If Giuliani wasn't tied to the GOP, he would be perfect. He is the South Park Republican (fiscally conservative and socially liberal) that could dominate. If dems truly believe this is going to be a cake-walk, ask this question."Why has this country only voted over 50.5% Democrat once in a presidential election since 1964? My prediction- Giuliani vs Clinton. Rudy kicks her butt electorally. At no time do I feel the running mate will be as important as this one. Voters have seen the influence of Cheney and may not be able to remember the past non-influence of VP's. Obama/Clark/Dodd all would be recieved well by the public I believe. The GOP has a much tougher time, I do not think any of the top tier will take a VP role, maybe Romney, but no way for McCain, Rudy, or Thompson. 4. FDR-like and LBJ-like when it comes to expanding government programs into as many areas of private life as can be attempted.
5. Bushian in the need to dig up dirt and paint opponents untruthfully as well as have a thug brigade to quash demonstrators at rallies.
Yes, that really looks like a winning combination for a leader- if you loved GWB, the biggest spender & impeder of personal liberty since Clinton.

This is great! Hillary and Obama are both weak candidates. Once again the democratic party is working actively to lose the election they have already won. Hillary was not a stellar candidate for senator, and it was sheer force her will that made the trek successful. Obama is so NEW to politics, and so potentially open to fatal woundings from pundits that his chance against a well organized adversary (Perot could beat this guy) is less than acceptable. Historically the republicans are poised again- with Fred Thompson- to whip-stick the donkey back into a cage. Fred Thompson offers a REAL option to the American people- He's not an elitist, his political antics are reserved and his speech and demeanor are causing big stirs in the democratic headquarters. He's not a free mason, or a member of skull and bones- What he represents is all that he is: An honest and excellent communicator that has a modest streak comparable to Ronald Reagan, and a level of wit the startles his would-be critics. I am reading from the socialist worker online; In 1992, one of the most important issues in Bill Cinton's campaign was health care reform. when he took office, 37 million americans were without health insurance. Early in his first term, polls showed seven out of 10 americans supporting a system that would guarantee health care for every person. But the Clinton administration frittered away this support. It's task force for writing reform legislation-chaired by Hillary Rodman Clinton-compromised again and again under pressure from the health care bosses. The resulting proposal was such a mess that republicans were able to turn public support against it and it died before it ever came up for a vote. By the time the Clinton's left office, 3 million more americans had no health insurance. I guess we will re-visit 1992 when and if Hillary is elected president, we will probably see the same results.

Some posts have been aimed at republicans (and taxes) and wrongly pointed them out as the party for the rich. You do NOT need a six figure salary to figure out that cutting taxes raises revenue. John F Kennedy was the first to PROVE it. Under GW Bush all taxes were reduced. The rich received the largest, because (gasp!*) they pay the most (90% of!), and now the poor pay ZERO, in case you need clarification. Our family is middle class, we have four children and Bush's tax cuts have added nearly (literally) $15,000 a year to our income. These attacks are unfair, and untrue. I find it absurd and more than a little sad that the party accusing republicans of a 'culture of fear' over terrorism have been using the 'culture of fear' to maintain their core constituency (pitting poor against rich) from their party's conception. It is this gimmick that has detracted attention from the gay marriage, sex on demand, let's kill babies mentality. Although I must say this- I agree that the childish fantasy of life without responsibility sounds attractive. It's just that some us feel a need to be productive. And honest. I would love it if some of the dems would join me.

Yeah, I remember the Clinton years, the wife and I barely made $60K/year combined and saw 25% - 30% of our income disappear in taxes (this includes filing itemized 1040's because we owned a house-it also includes getting very little of a tax return even though both of us were claiming '0' deductions).
The economic boom of the 1990's? Yeah, until the dot.com fallout the last year he was in office, then it is discovered that all these big companies were 'cooking the books' during that time too.
I remember the Clinton years of the 1990's where U.S. embassies were bombed around the world, the first WTC attack, the attack of the USS Cole, and Clin-toon just 'humming' right along in the Oval Office. So what do ya think, are the terrorists going to be more concerned about the U.S.'s resolve against islamo-fascism with Hillary as POTUS? NOT!
