Previously I ignored politics but have been inspried by the Obama campaign. Not just the Senator himself who seems the most intelligent, authentic, charismatic statesman to ever run for the presidency. But even his campaign staff, David Axelrod and David Plouffe, seem like honest, high integrity men. This is refreshing and inspiring reading from Plouffe today:

mary, many people feel proud of their country again and it's possibilities with obama. There is just something about him and the campaign that is so different.
The media spins for Hillary and ignores the problems with her from her lack of substance to her borrowing Bill's resume as her own to tout supposed experience.
This fundraising shows that the people are not buying the spin. They want something different and better.

This presidential contest will be decided at the democratic convention. Those GOP stiffs are all running for footnote. On the democratic side I hope Obama makes a good showing. I think we could have a barn burner of a convention. Al Gore could get drafted at the convention and win it. I'm lukewarm on Hillary, like many democrats. Her using Bill as a future ambassador is a great idea, but truthfully any candidate that wins the election can have Bubba do some much needed diplomatic work.

The dollar figure is impressive, but I'm still floored by the number of contributors - read it was actually 258,000. Coincidentally at a wedding reception yesterday, I met a lifelong independent and his wife, who told me they had sent a check to Obama. It was their first political contribution ever. They said they were tired of the divisiveness and saw in Obama someone who shared their desire to rise above that for a while.

Great News !! I read the Obama has outraised Hillary
10 million for the Primary's ! This is incredible. This is a movement , I hope that the media will pay attention and just on Hillary pandering at the last debate. This is remarkable for Barack to have raised this much money against the powerful and connected Clinton's !! I think America is tried of the past and want new leadership. I agree with Mr. Dodd's article last month, that 2004 was Hillary's year. We would have not had the supreme court we have now. She would have been a stronger candidate against Bush. She should have run then, 2008 is a CHANGE election. I really think Gore will endorse Obama before Iowa and slowly Hillary will fade.

"The love of money is the root of all evil." No wonder our elections are always a choice between the lesser of two evils. No wonder Washington, DC is a cesspool of corruption. When the media stops being so focused on how much money candidates raise just because most of that money raised will be going to the media for advertising and thus increasing their stock, then we might get back to so sanity in this country.

Who cares how much money anyone raised? I repeat, what have Obama or Clinton said of any substance this quarter? How many plans has Clinton released, or is her campaign strategy going to just remain "vote for me, I'm a Clinton with ovaries"? Obama released a his health care plan and said something about veterans. Out of three months, what else did he do besides raise money?

The process sucks. The media is ruining politics. Candidates have to sell their soul to lobbyists in order to raise money, and Clinton and Obama don't mind.

ST, we're just starting the third quarter. Are you really expecting these campaigns to have presented fleshed out positions yet? Even if they had those press releases already drafted, they wouldn't be hitting the send button just yet. Actually I'm surprised the campaigns have been as substantive as they are, from both parties - a result of this hyper-early start I guess.
