Anyone notice how irritated and uncomfortable Bush always appears during question and answer sessions with members of the WH press corps? His body language and facial expressions say it all. He loves to pontifcate and give his tried and true little speeches about being in charge but it's so obvious that he can hardly tolerate anyone questioning his poor judgement, his dissembling, his contradictions, his flip-flopping, and his support for liars and convicted felons in his administration. He loves to remind one and all that he's the decider, the commander-in-chief, but he looks like wants no part of the responsibility of that comes with being President. He wants out of press briefings in the worst way. Though he prattles on and on about democracy, he thinks it's for others, never feeling comfortable with it's necessary give and take. He's a pretender to the throne, but there's nothing behind the facade - and he can't stand trying to explain what is unexplainable.

I think the only reason we are still in Iraq is to protect the big oil contracts agreed to by the current puppet government of Iraq. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments Branden, but I believe you left out a couple of zeros. By the most conservative estimates of those that really care and keep track as best as possible, over 100,000 human beings have perished as a result of this godless misadventure.

The "end times" that I will relish the most are those of McCain. He is still stubbornly hanging on and Iraq and immigration should be bury him pretty soon. He's just about at the end of the line on support and money.

Bin Laden wanted Saudi Arabia and couldn't have it, He then wanted Afghanistan and we made sure he couldn't have that either. He wants Iraq and has committed almost all available Al-Qu'ida forces and resources towards that goal, making it impossible, at least so far,to re-establish Taliban/al-Qu'ida rule.

Were Iraq to fall to an al-Qu'ida friendly regime the industrial base which mass produced a devil's laundry list of Chemical and Biological weapons for Saddam would rapidly be back online, Saddam's engineers had plans to mass produce Mustard gas using expendable Crucibles within two weeks of end of sanctions, and his sons had planned to provide technicians ,scientists, and technical support to Syrian based Jihadis so those resources would be available to al-Qu'ida just as they would have been had we not short stopped Ansar al-Islam.
Zarqawi himself had concentrated on Cynanide based gases and large blocks of pure cynanide have been captured in raids on al-Qu'ida safehouses.
Cynanide gas , like Chlorine gas , was seldom useful in open combat but perfect for killing the inhabitants of buildings or travelers on trains and planes. Its binary in that the pellets must be immersed in acid to release the gas, and very compact and easily hidden.
At least one cynanide plot was uncovered in Rome early on. The news reports were misleading since they seemed to think the terrorists planned to poison a water supply, Using existing plumbing to distribute poison gas is much more likely, just cut off the water and introduce the gas using a portable pump.

Iraqi Intelligence was experimenting with both Mustard gas and plant based knock out sprays up until the 48 hour ultimatum, something seldom mentioned though it appears in the ISG report.

Saddam knew Chemical weapons were largely ineffective against a modern army with protective gear, but perfect for mass casualty Terrorist attacks, al-Qu'ida knows this as well.

Insurgent/Terrorists in Fallujah had produced small quanties of both Mustard gas and Sarin but without access to the tens of thousands of Russian chemical shells confiscated by our forces the gases were more dangerous to them than they would have been to our troops.

Palestinian terrorist groups have claimed to have access to the same materials believed to have been transfered just before the Invasion, but without equipments and technicians these precursors and seed stocks are all but useless to them, and in fact much more dangerous to them than to Israel at this time.
We've seen just how easy it was for Hezbollah to hide tens of thousands of missiles and rockets, whatever else they have hidden from view is not something we can be sure of at this stage.

As long as the WMD controversy is a useful propaganda tool whatever CBW they have managed to scrape up will not be used, once it no longer is an political issue we can figure on them deploying whatever they do have when it's most convenient for them to do so.

When repetitive actions are totally consistent it leaves little doubt as to the motivation and intent behind them and to reason differently would just be to deceive one’s self. The Bush administration has been so completely consistent in everything that there is no doubt that they are aggressively pursuing a private agenda for the benefit of a select few while offering the average American only subterfuge and the substantial costs. It is apparent in everything and can be seen by all who will objectively look. The gross dishonesty to justify, rationalize and excuse, to manipulate, intimidate and coerce, to disguise, cover and misguide is always there along with the benefit for those few who then support and return benefit to the Bush administration. The bold, in-your-face arrogance is also there along with the rationalizing and/or ignoring of the costs. Look at any sequence of events and the consistency is apparent.

Currently there is substantial debate and considerable emotion expressed from all corners about what to do in the Iraq War, with the Bush administration once again demanding patience and continued acceptance for their ways. The Bush position ignores all of the people, studies and information that contradict them and that indicate continuing as they are will only result in continued failure. The administration attempts to urge emotional support for their position by identifying the effort as required in the fight against terrorism and against al Qaeda when it is documented that the major conflict in Iraq is really sectarian and criminal in nature, with Iraqis fighting Iraqis and with segments of their government posturing against each other while neglecting their responsibilities. Recently there was even an instance of Iraqi police, who seem to be heavily infiltrated by sectarian militias, attacking American forces. There is and has not been any benefit for America in this conflict but, once again, there has been and is continuing to be significant benefits for a select few.

Politicians, partly because of considerable political self-concern, are at odds over how to deal with this political dilemma and are basically allowing it to continue; I suspect waiting for someone else to have the blame. One course of action that is very logical and that would allow progress is to impeach the president (and vice-president) so that a new course could be initiated (on so many other issues too). It isn’t like there isn’t any justification, in fact, it seems well justified and called for. With Iraq, as with so much else, the American people, the legislature and the world have all been lied to: the justification for attacking was false (and resulted in partial abandonment of the real fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan), the reporting throughout has been creative, the supposed coalition, represented by the inequitable costs in lives and dollars, isn’t real and the abundant subterfuge arrogantly presented to rationalize failures and to distract from the substantial benefit for the select few is always there. And, as always, there is that in-your-face arrogance as if it is their right. The consistency that tells the intent and motivation is totally there and it completely justifies and literally demands impeachment!

Lol, I just remembered a Dubya blunder from his first weeks in office back in 2001. Granted, reporters were gunning for him, trying to expose his lack of, well, anything. Someone asked him what the U.S. would do if the Chinese attack Taiwan. Of course he gave the stupid cowboy answer about how we'd use the full weight of the military to defend our ally. This of course caused a sleepless night in three capitals, as people scrambed to figure out if U.S. policy had really changed. The White House of course put out a statement the next day explaining what the president meant, lol.

I would suggest that we have more than Bush problems. I think Congress is a pretty big problem, too. I will support the Commnander and Chief because he is the elected leader of our country. Congress is a body of elected officials that have forgotten why they were elected (over and over and over again). I would like to see a push to change out 50% of our Congress in the next 2 election cycles. Then maybe they will go and do what we send them there to do.
