BROWNBACK: His "Pro-Life, Whole-Life" tour in Iowa wrapped up over the weekend with events all over the state -- some of which Brownback attended in person; for others, he sent staff.

Its a terrible story for a campaign to announce its blown all its money with little to show for it.

Oh-eight (R): Tons of McCain coverage

go home john and rest.

Oh-eight (R): Tons of McCain coverage

All snarky comments aside, I think what has really happened to McCain is that the public sees that he really doesn't want to be president anymore. He is tired. I think he really relishes the notion of being a wise old man, who councils with "I told you sos" Being president, at least the way he sees it, would require huge focus and energy, which he no longer has. He is looking for a graceful way to exit the arena.

The campaign shake-up is another story. I think his advisors sent him on the flawed strategy that to win the republican base he needed to prostrate himself before Bush and his policies. Now he is stuck with two untenible positions, backing the war and the immigration plan. The former looked good when the war was getting near total republican approval and the latter looked good when the super rich were in control of their party's rank and file. But, McC's own bill muted the super wealthy's ability to dominate the money side, thus weakening their ability to promulgate their argument that "What's good for the super rich is good for America".

Look where almost all of the campaign money is coming from--the middle class. And look where most of the money is going to--the democrats. The only money coming from the upper classes is the six million from Romney to Romney. And, it will take all of his 250+ million dollars net worth to win him the nomination.

Oh-eight (R): Tons of McCain coverage

I had to go back and look up this comment, but Bill Clinton wasn't exactly for the middle class either. In 1992, he told the middle class, there would be a middle class tax cut. It was on all the news. Rush Limbaugh was telling everyone not to trust him. On January 19 1992, he stated "I want to make it very clear that this middle class tax cut, in my view, is central to any attempt we're going to make to have a short term economic strategy". In a press conference on January 14, 1993 he said "From New Hampshire forward, for reasons that absolutely mystified me, the press thought the most important issue in the race was the middle class cut. I never did meet any voter who thought that". Any middle class voter who send money to Hillary Clinton will never be able to justify their reasoning's after the last Clinton ran.
